Moody clouds around on this cool summer evening in Arches. Stitched together here four captures taken hand held showing all the hikers enjoying this location as well. They give a great sense of scale to the scene.
I seem to have a love / hate relationship with Sandsend. Whenever I'm there I seem to miss the best light and that was certainly the case for this shot. On top of that everyone seems to having building work done so finding a composition without scafolding in in it was tricky. With nothing in the way of sidelight and no colour in the sky I opted for this classic shot looking through the arch, up Sandsend Beck towards the cottages. I was hoping some cootage lights would come on the make for a more enticing blue hour shot, but it didnt happen. Work in progress so I will revisit...
One of the most popular areas of Toronto are City Hall and the adjoining, Nathan Philips Square: Both vying for the attention of tourists.
Some people like the City Hall, while others provide arch support ;)
You can view Delicate Arch from upper viewing point, which is about a half mile hike up a hill. Well worth the climb, especially if you're unable to make it up to Delicate Arch itself. The arch is one of the main and most popular of the attractions at this park. The rangers allow you to walk onto the slickrock as long as you do not walk on non-rock surfaces. Sun down time, ended onto a plateau where the arch appeared almost like a vision on top of the cliffs, the deep cliffs under my foot…
I posted a photo yesterday, this one is in a bit different view, you can see the tiny Delicate Arch far away in the meddle of the photo… Most people ended up at viewpoint, could not see this view, it took a bit effort to climb to this location, few people did it, you can see three people sitting and waiting for the sunset on the edge of cliffs... Not long after taking this photo, it started raining, no real sunset...
This image is from the Princeton University campus in Princeton, New Jersey. The architects certainly went arch-happy in their construction! There must literally be dozens of arches on that campus, incorporated into a wide variety of structures.

For my morning constitutional, I headed down to the river to take pictures of the railroad bridge, my solitude broken only by a lone kayaker and a bunch of kids who, based on their woohoos, had reached one of the milestones of their river pilgrimage.
