Photographed from ground level, this image shows the exterior of the Museum of the Future, one of Dubai's most distinctive contemporary landmarks.
The building opened in 2022 and stands 77 metres high, a number chosen to reflect the year the United Arab Emirates was founded (1971).
The torus-shaped structure is clad in 1,024 stainless steel panels, each individually fabricated using robotic production techniques. The Arabic calligraphy cut into the façade consists of quotes by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. It functions both as a visual statement and as a window, bringing natural light into the interior exhibition spaces.
Located along Sheikh Zayed Road, the museum sits at the heart of Dubai's business district, surrounded by high-rise towers and major transport infrastructure.
The Hagia Sophia, whose name means “holy wisdom,” is a domed monument originally built as a cathedral in Constantinople (now Istanbul, Turkey) in the sixth century A.D. In its 1,400 year life-span it has served as a cathedral, mosque, a museum and now again a mosque.
"Built in 537 as the patriarchal cathedral of the imperial capital of Constantinople, it was the largest Christian church of the eastern Roman Empire (the Byzantine Empire) and the Eastern Orthodox Church, except during the Latin Empire from 1204 to 1261, when it became the city's Latin Catholic cathedral. In 1453, after the Fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Empire, it was converted into a mosque. In 1935, under the direction of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the secular Republic of Turkey established it as a museum. In 2020 it re-opened as a mosque."
While some of the Christian images have been removed since the building has been reinstituted as a mosque, others have not. Christian churches commonly include human images from bible occurrences but mosques do not, instead using geometric and other patterns and Arabic calligraphy.

I took this shot inside one of the many mausoleums at Shah-i-Zinda, the "Street of the Living King." I think it might be the Tuman Aqa Mausoleum (built for one of Timur's wives)… but to be honest, there were so many stunning spots along the way and I got a bit sloppy with my notes. What I do remember clearly is stepping in, looking up, and just being blown away. That golden ceiling, with its detailed patterns and Arabic script all around… it felt like standing inside a piece of jewelry. One of those moments where you have to stop, stare, and say "wow."

This Arabic calligraphy of sorat Alfateha was done by Calligrapher Ayman Hassan living in Kuwait, and here the Ostath Dawoud Baktash (one of the best calligraphers in the world now) is fixing and teaching Ayman how to draw or write the letters the right way using red ink.. it was a very important lesson for me as well.
