New Hythe railway station is on the Medway Valley Line in Kent, England, serving the village of New Hythe. It is 38 miles 3 chains (61.2 km) down the line from London Charing Cross via Strood and is situated between Snodland and Aylesford. The station and all trains that serve the station are operated by Southeastern.

 

The APTIS-equipped ticket office, in a 1930s building on the northbound platform, closed in September 1989 and subsequently became derelict. In 2007, a PERTIS (Permit to Travel) ticket machine was installed at the entrance to the northbound platform.

The Stanford clock tower movement looks to be a Seth Thomas No. 16 "Angelus" (see page 35 here) from about 1901. Hover over the photo for some geek notes about how it works :P

Yazd is of foremost importance as a centre of Persian architecture.

 

To deal with the extremely hot summers, many old buildings in Yazd have magnificent windcatchers, and large underground areas.

A windcatcher (Persian: بادگیر‎ bâdgir: bâd "wind" + gir "catcher", Arabic: ملقف ‎malqaf [1][2]) is a traditional Persian architectural element to create natural ventilation in buildings.[3] Windcatchers come in various designs: uni-directional, bi-directional, and multi-directional. Windcatchers remain present in many countries and can be found in traditional Persian-influenced architecture throughout the Middle East, including in the small Arab states of the Persian Gulf (mostly Bahrain and Dubai[4]), Pakistan and Afghanistan.[5]

 

Régie autonome des transports parisiens (RATP): the electric bus number 7358 (Alstom Aptis, license plate GA-807-AR) working a service in the city line 56.

 

It is part of the 7358-7407 series. Although RATP was initially expected to purchase up to 260 electric buses of the Aptis model, in 2021 Alstom decided not to continue production of the only bus it manufactured, due to its commercial failure. For this reason, the series has only the 50 buses from the first firm order.

Cet Aptis, un des 1iers de série livré par Alstom, effectue des essais sur le parcours de la nouvelle ligne H du réseau strasbourgeois, entre la Gare Centrale et le Parlement Européen, où est vu cet exemplaire effectuant son demi-tour.

La mise en service est prévue le 24 février.

Cet Aptis est vu ici sur la ligne H entre le Parlement Européen et la Gare Centrale, ici Place de Bordeaux.

Ligne T1 du réseau TLP Mobilités en provenance de Ibos Méridien et à destination de Tarbes Hôpital aux allées Leclerc.

 

Ligne exploitée par Keolis Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées.

Het staat er zelfs op: véhicule. Het eerste en voorlopig ook laatste busproduct van Alstom, de elektrische Aptis. Geen verkoopknaller, de productie wordt na de bouw van enkele tientallen exemplaren (waaronder 50 voor de RATP) eind dit jaar alweer gestaakt. Parijs, Place de la République.

Rotterdam Zuidplein 17-04-2018. Now this is definitely an oddball. It's th Alston Aptis, a French electric bus being tested this month in several cities in the Netherlands. The bus has two steerable axles (which can be seen clearly on most of the photos) and with the wheels at the corners it has no noticable overhang.

Swindon Railway Station, Swindon, Wiltshire.

 

It is an important junction, where the former Great Western Railway line to Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa, the Great Western Main Line to Bristol Temple Meads and the South Wales Main Line route to Bristol Parkway and South Wales diverge. The station is managed by Great Western Railway (GWR), who operate all trains serving it. It is approximately 220 yards (200 m) from the central bus station and the town centre. It is served by GWR services from London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads, Cardiff Central, Cheltenham Spa via Gloucester, Swansea and the rest of South Wales. There is also an early morning service to Southampton which originates at Gloucester reversing at Swindon.

 

With the railway passing through the town in early 1841, the Goddard Arms public house in Old Swindon was used as a railway booking office in lieu of a station. Tickets purchased included the fare for a horse-drawn carriage to the line at the bottom of the hill.

 

Swindon railway station opened in 1842 with construction of the Great Western Railway's engineering works continuing. Until 1895, every train stopped here for at least 10 minutes to change locomotives. Swindon station hosted the first recorded railway refreshment rooms, divided according to class. Swindonians, for a time, were eminently proud that even the current King and Queen of the time had partaken of refreshments there. The station in 1842 was built of three storeys, with the refreshment rooms on the ground floor, the upper floors comprising the station hotel and lounge. Until 1961, when Swindon Town station closed, the station was known as Swindon Junction.

 

The building was demolished in 1972, with today's modern station and office block erected on the site. The Travel Centre (i.e. booking office) at Swindon was APTIS-equipped by the end of October 1986, making it one of the very first stations with the ticketing system which was eventually found across the UK at all staffed British Rail stations by the end of the 1980s.

Looking west from the north aisle lady chapel once used for private worship by the Chudleigh lords of the manor in the 16c / 17c . There are rare painted scenes on the 15c screen dado & entrance door facing the altar instead of the congregation . They were painted in the 16c and include Annunciation & Visitation www.flickr.com/gp/52219527@N00/e4at4H23Pr scenes together with portraits of the old prophets (or members of the Chudleigh family ?)
