The Truth Is Out There, But if we believe, then we need to BE that belief.
Hello everybody, I am gradually finding my way back into my creative life and posting on Flickr, but first of all I wanted to say a big thank you to all those who left well-wishes and faves on Castiel’s Angel Messenger Service where he kindly let you know I was taking a break to get well. See Link here for Angel Messenger Service..

Castiel looked after me very well, with stern advice, I have to say. But this is what Angels do. They are uncompromising with their love.
Inspiration and healing can come from many sources, and when I was feeling better my partner and I started to rewatch the X-Files Series from the start. After what has been some time, to see this again I was reminded just how brilliant it was and so inspiring.
I remember watching it all in real-time the first time round, the agonies and surprises; the long waits between seasons.
For some of us creativity and a passion for what we believe in is what gives us life, and Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, the main characters in the show, reminded me of that quality and it resonated deeply with me this time as I watched it, as I found that when I was unwell and not able to write and take photographs it was tantamount to torture, as I had to let my brain calm down from all the migraines, my brain was literally inflamed, but I desperately wanted to get back to my work!
Time away from Flickr has also been an inward-looking exercise however, as when I looked further afield all I could see was a world trying to destroy itself, but we are not all meant to be on the world stage conducting events, even if we think we can do it better! No, we are where we are meant to be, but that does not mean that we cannot contribute to making this world a better place in smaller ways.
Like ripples in a pond, our joy and love for what we do creatively can reach out to other people, encouraging pursuits that can give us a focus and meaning to our lives.
Since the beginning of the year I have been very focused on completing a lot of work, but for some reason I just had to do it, as a lot of it forms works that make up a series, and the power of those is in the fact that it just keeps building as it is added to. Some of this work delves into some darker territory that I needed to work through, but there are other series of works where the pieces are beautiful and joyful. All this work will have new pages on the website to showcase it on, and I am looking forward to adding the work to these pages.
From now on I will be posting up work both on my website and most likely repeated on Flickr, as this is where in all honesty I seem to receive the most ‘traffic’, however I still cling to the belief that my website provides an important resource in that it not only shows my work in a way that I wish it to be experienced as a designed piece, [and the closest I can get to the printed copies I create], but also the fact that the website provides a calm space, an online gallery where the spirit can be refreshed or rest.
I am also hoping to revive the Blog space that I run out of my website where I am hoping to talk more about my inspirations and the reference I use from my extensive book collection, which will also be shared on Flickr, which I am hoping will provoke some memories and discussion!
The following posts here on Flickr begin the introductions to some of the new pages on the website, and I hope you enjoy them both on there and on Flickr. Loading them all up completely is going to take time, as it takes about an hour to load up one piece of work on my website, and we all know how long it can take on Flickr! And to give you an idea, I roughly totalled it all up the other day, and there are about 190 works that I have written since January that will be posted up…eventually..!
There are also works in my files I haven’t finished yet! [Yes I know Castiel, all in good time.]
Life is so precious, and the simple act of being able to put pen to paper and write the crazy stuff that I do, inspired by the images I take and the experiences I have, was brought home to me very vividly indeed when I was at last able to work again. Nothing should ever be taken for granted and our creative passions should always be nurtured, and with God’s grace, shared.
So here we go, and I hope you enjoy the body of work that is to come. I am making my way back carefully, so I think I am going to sort of start from here and chat when [hopefully!!] you lovely people leave comments & faves. Be gentle with me! Thank you my dear friends and followers for all your support and generosity that you have gifted me with from when I joined Flickr. It was something that I never expected, and it remains a continual source of joy for me to know you all.
Shelley.

UPDATE 20th June, 2025.
Oh my. I have been humbled in the last 24 hours. Thank you to all of you who have welcomed me back on Flickr so warmly, and for viewing, faving and commenting on my humble offerings on here. I got quite emotional over that I have to say. When even the act of thinking hurt my brain causing not a little despair, it is so delightful to just be able to chat to you all again and share our images and wild imaginings. Thank you for being here for me.

Updated my workspace to include some additional storage and a stand for the MacBook Pro. The laptop screen is a lot more usable after raising it and I use the dual monitors a lot more now. I also swapped the iPhone 3G for a new iPhone 3GS and installed a 500GB drive into the MacBook Pro.
Do you hear me,
I’m talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky, oh my, baby I’m trying
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I feel your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard
I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Ooohh, ooooh, oooh, oooh,
Oooh ooh ooh ooh
They don’t know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I’ll wait for you I promise you, I will
I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
Lucky we’re in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday
And so I’m sailing through the sea
To an island where we’ll meet
You’ll hear the music fill the air
I’ll put a flower in your hair
Though the breezes through trees
Move so pretty you’re all I see
As the world keeps spinning round
You hold me right here right now
I’m lucky I’m in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I’m lucky we’re in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday
Ooohh, ooooh, oooh, oooh,
Oooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooooh, ooooh, oooh, oooh,
Oooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.

Showcase but again, they all work together every time so that the experience is more than versatile.
I took some photos for work the other day at North High School. The school became the largest in the state to begin a 1:1 laptop program for all students, as each was provided with a new Apple Macbook computer. While attending parent-teacher conferences, students and their parents also went through a training program on using and caring for their new laptops. It was impressive to see families spend two hours or more to learn about their new computer and how it ties into the educational changes taking place at the school. Students and their parents went to different stations to cover different topics, and this photo is of a student setting up her new email account. When the lights were dimmed for a power point presentation, everyone was simply lit by the screens of their laptops.

I can already hear a lot of parents singing "It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year." Or at least getting tuned up to sign it. I know my parents did when I was a kid.
I remember the days when school supplies consisted of notebooks, three ring binders (I remember when Trapper Keepers were cool), the Internet was just coming out, there was no such thing as tablets and we actually had to write stuff down on paper using pens and pencils.
Nowadays, everything has been pretty much been taken over by computers and tablets. Textbooks are now available for immediate download for a cheaper price, notes can be taken on a word processor (I still use notebooks for math classes) and some classes are now held online anywhere in the world. I do a lot of school work and classes at the coffee shop (where this photo is taken).
How time have changed.
So, here are my school supplies. I will admit: my backpack does feel lighter without five 100 pound textbooks in my bag.

I practically spend all day on technology. If its not editing photos (like I'm doing in this photo), it's getting a hold of people through email, Facebook, etc. Or I might be out shooting.
Regardless, technology has either made the world a better or worst place to live (depending on your opinion). I just like it because I can work outside of home for a few hours (especially if I have a long bus ride somewhere).

Memories from my last week's stay on Earth.
The man who lived in books
Turned another page
And stepped into the fading evening light.
He thought of all the words that had brought him to this place,
As the parchment wind blew in his face.
The man who lived in films
Turned the houselights up
And wandered from the darkness into light.
He thought of all the images he'd borrowed from the screen,
As the nitrate trail showed all that he had seen.
The man who lived in songs
Sang a haunting tune
And turned his face towards the dawn
He thought of all the rhymes that hadn't changed a thing
As he realised there were no notes left to sing...

Here's a shot I took with my iPhone. I needed to send off an email while waiting for the bus and, well, a flowered shrub made for a perfect table.
Starting from top left. Jump drives, pocket knife, chap stick, hand sanitizer, contact re-wetting drops, digital pocket camera, notebook, portable jump drive, journal, door keys. iPod Touch, eyeglass case, ray ban wayfarers, MacBook Pro. JCrew Messenger bag (waterproof).

Rare moment! I needed a headshot for an upcoming website launch (eek!) so I stepped in front of the camera for myself and attempted to master a self portrait.
