A sculpture created out of non-perishable canned and boxed foods is on display at NASAβs Kennedy Space Center in Florida as part of the 2019 Feds Feeds Families campaign. Kennedy employees had the opportunity to work in teams to construct sculptures reflecting this yearβs theme β The Moon Lights the Way β to pay tribute to the 50th anniversary of the first Apollo Moon landing. As part of the theme, the can sculptures highlighted the accomplishments of the Apollo Program while incorporating aspects of NASAβs aim to return to the Moon and beyond to Mars. On Aug. 2, 2019, all sculptures will be deconstructed and boxed for donation. Photo credit: NASA/Kim Shiflett

π Moon Mania at #Waubonsee was a π blast! Thank you to all who ventured out to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the π Apollo 11 #MoonLanding with us. #Apollo50th
My 3D Anaglyph version of the superb 3d.si.edu/armstrong #Apollo11 #Apollo50th (until @smithsonian add this option ) ;p
But, I still need to see if it can fly. I have to balance CG and CP, weight the rocket, determine the motors it can fly on and what parachute size is needed for recovery. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wWggSyMlXbE

In a race towards the Apollo 11 50th anniversary, things don't always go as planned. This cool 1/150th scale DIY Saturn V exceeds expectation going up. Flying on an Aerotech E30-4 to over 500 feet. But a scorched chute on the way down totals the rocket. The stand-by Estes 1/100th scale delivers. Flying on an Aerotech F44-4 to over 400 feet and three giant parachutes open successfully. Shotokutech completes the two missions from the June Rocketry update. What to do next?
