"You take delight not in a city's seven or seventy wonders, but in the answer it gives to a question of yours."

Český ráj National Park, Czech Republic. Shot "in answer" to an image shot by Ming Thein, and then paid homage to by Gerner Christensen. I felt it might be difficult to tred the same path and somehow find an equal image...fortunately Mother Nature provided the inspiration...

Looking a little worse for wear, with many a scratch and blemish on the brass.
Objective from an old Prior microscope. I also took a shot of the lens as a possible Macro Monday (in photostream), but decided on this one instead (mostly because it is 42!).

If you lost the fight between wrong and right
You can call on love to guide you!!

Love will answer!!
Right key is always the answer. How often we find it? How often we have the courage to use it?
NYC 22
"Was it worth it?"
Just another question to ponder while walking six block is soaking wet corduroys, grinning like a fool.
"Yes," is the answer.
Do you know what "hikifakcava" means? That's a Lebanese way to tell someone, Hi, how are you?
This one simple sentence (or shall I say a mutant-word), consisting of 3 different words, in 3 different languages - Hi (English), kifak (how are you/Arabic), ca va (French), fully expresses the lingvo-cultural diversity in Lebanon.
This tiny land is a mix of all confessions, cultural and ethnic groups otherwise scattered throughout the Middle East. Christian Maronite, Greek Orthodox, Melkite and Protestants, Muslim Sunnis, Alawites, Ismailis, progressive Muslims and Druze. Add to this work immigrants from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and all over Africa.
When you ask a simple question to a random passer by, he first answers you in Arabic (they say I look like a local), and when you say your Arabic is very limited, they ask "Engish? French?". And when they know I'm Armenian, they'll always find a word or two in my native language to say :)
Sometimes, though, these utterly nice, hospitable, kind people make wars. And they kill each other because of religion, ethnicity, and anything else they can think of. The last civil war in Lebanon lasted from 1975 to 1990, and took lives of around 250,000 people. All Lebanese.
Now, to the positive side.
They call Beirut "The Paris of Middle East". It's been continuously inhabited for more than 5000 years now. It still bears traces of French colonization, not only in language, but also in architecture. Beirut is unlike any other Middle Eastern capital in being very liberal and culturally progressive. More than anything, Beirut is about arts, expressing one's ideas through street paintings, graffiti and music. We came across these stairs on a random street, while having a walk. We then spotted few more, with different patterns and colors.
Before we traveled to Beirut from Amman, a colleague told me, "Everyone loves Amman until they visit Beirut". And "You'll either hate it, or love it forever".
I love Beirut.
Thanks for your visit and have a great day!

Michael Patten was a professor of ancient civilizations at Gotham University, specializing in lost civilization and the theories behind their disappearances. His lectures and theories caught the attention of the Riddler, leading to him consulting Patten for riddles for his crimes. Due to the fact that the Riddler is, well, the Riddler, Patten agreed, and aided Nygma in creating riddles for crimes. However, Nygma purposefully rigged the riddles so that the clues would lead back to Patten. Arrested and disgraced, Patten began to seek out vengeance. When he was released from Black Gate, he became the Answer, calling himself, “the answer to Gotham’s seedy underground.” Patten’s violent take on justice put him at odds with Batman, leading Patten to add Batman to the problem he seeks to answer. In his mind, Batman’s approach to justice is a problem, and only he can answer it

Lost my hard drive while I was uploading these photos on the 9th, with years of photos on it... until my husband found the program from Wondershare "recoverit". Highly recommended. If you ever lose a drive, use this before you do anything else. As far as I can see ALL photos where recovered! He bought the full version, in my opinion, well worth it!

She answers to Charlotte, Charchar, Charchar Binks, Binks, Charlie, Charliegirl, but NOT Cutiepatootie! She vehemently denies being a cutiepatootie! She will tell you she is NOT that, and she will state “I am Charlotte…….(pause) and I am beautiful!”. No self esteem problem here, for sure! Her personality is one of confidence, with a touch of spitfire. She is clever and sometimes sassy, and a sweet bundle of love, along with that. I am her go to….she screams with joy when she sees me arrive and she cries big ol’ tears when it is time for me to head home, breaking me heart every time. She loves animals ( especially my cats and her 6 month old adopted puppy) and making art with Oma ( or Omie, depending on who I am that day! She eats darn near anything especially tomatoes and fruits and veggies and fish tacos…and if she spots dessert, she will announce that she does not like her chicken, just her broccoli to see if she can con you into still having that dessert! She is caring and the first one to get her “prayer hands “ in place to say grace before the family has meals and reminds them about saying Grace. Occasionally she will even make an attempt, by saying “Thank you for this food, Amen. Now we can eat!” I love her to the moon and back, and more. Oh! And she LOVES books and being read to! Finally, I think I have an up and coming Reader. My other grands will read but only Lileigh is getting into it more as she is now 13…ack! Time flies…
The only fight should be the fight of faith. Full force of enduring to the end of life.
