Pretty daisy at the water tower with dash of filter for a different look. Quite like the outcome of this one.

You know that box that you keep trying to put me in? Go ahead and ask me: How many fucks do you give? The answer is simple: None. I have none to give. I am me. I am strong. I am my own woman. And I'm gonna fucking rock it.

This elephant at the Rochester Seneca Park Zoo made it a point to come over and look at me when I walked by to take her photo.

Meh, yet another Great Egret, Ardea alba, in flight against an overcast sky, no better than several I have already posted. However, it’s very encouraging as a proof of concept, because I got it with my brand new Fujifilm X-T5 on my first outing.

Manual exposure; one frame from a 7fps burst; following the subject at 300mm; continuous back button autofocus set for bird tracking; saved as RAW and HEIF on UHS-II cards; uploaded to the Cloud with my old SD card adapter, processed from HEIF in Photos on iPad; cropped from 40MP to 3, for a 6000mm full-frame equivalent reach.

Several questions remain to be answered, haven’t got a slick workflow. Had to sit on a park bench for a while and search the manual on my phone to figure out how to invoke burst mode. 😜

HOODED MERGANSER (Lophodytes cucullatus)

Hooded Mergansers are the second smallest species of merganser, with only the Smew of Europe and Asia being smaller.

The Hooded Merganser is a sea duck, being able to dive for fish and staying underwater for some time and using its sawbill to catch and grip the fish.

Hooded Mergansers are short-distance migrants, wintering in the United States wherever temperatures allow for ice-free conditions on ponds, lakes and rivers.

Not having visited the CN Champaign Sub in some time, I was beginning to wonder if IC SD70s were still a "thing" on A408s between Kirk Yard in Gary, IN and Centralia, IL. The answer runs south through Humbolt, IL behind IC #1024 and 1027, albeit a little later in the day than I'm used to seeing. Whereas A408s have typically departed Champaign well before sunrise, this one is obviously many hours behind that schedule, much to my benefit.

CN's heritage plan rolls on.

please no graphics in your comments. if it's from a group i've posted in choose the little one - comment with only graphics will be deleted. thanks

The reason for our recent trip to Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee…the Western Cottonmouth. Reelfoot is pretty famous in our part of the world for three main reasons: Amazing fishing (winter and spring only…it sucks in August), and the largest concentration of Bald eagles and cottonmouths in the Eastern USA.

I have been wanting to go back to Reelfoot to photograph the cottonmouths for many years now. This week my brother Gus and I made the 9-hour roundtrip drive and were blessed with two separate encounters. In this shot, we fired up the trolling motor and cruised alongside this beautiful adult viper.

Fun Facts: Grand Teton National Park was created on February 29, 1929 and greatly expanded in 1950 due to the efforts of John D. Rockefeller, who purchased vast tracts of land and then donated over 30,000 acres to the U.S. Government.

In a burst of sunlight that lasted less than a minute, G539, BL33 and G520 lead 7901V out of Irymple at 1705 on Tuesday the 29th of August 2023. Barely 20 seconds before this train came into view, the sun came out and less than 10 seconds after the locos passed me, the sun disappeared behind the clouds, never to be seen again on this day. Of note, this train ran at a larger than normal length of around 1500m.

I have been thinking about my brother so much lately. We lost him a year and a half ago to an accidental overdose He went to bed and never woke up. My poor dad found him, but it was already too late. He was only 24 and a wonderful person. This song just fits how much I feel. I miss him so much!

Thank you in advance for all your faves and comments. I might answer several WEEKS/MONTHS later. And I might post several photos in the meantime.

Given the age of some of these old towns, and particularly Gayndah, I was hoping somewhere I would come across one of the various forms of these somewhere. This was of a type I hadn't seen before. Apparently still works and in use, the shop would have been some form of Emporium selling a range of clothes and household goods in its day. Now it is simply a Charity Shop.

I took this a few days ago when we got up ridiculously early to witness the dawn chorus under the guide of a real expert.

This man was able to pick out individual birds from a cacophony at 5am, whilst telling us about them, and answering our naive questions. He could even tell which were birds mimicking different birds.

At least that's what we assume. To be honest, he could have been telling us anything at 5am - I was just nodding with what I hope was an interested expression, daydreaming of duvets, pots of coffee and the cooked breakfast we were promised.

this is as clear as i could get it xD this is for everyone on answers ♥ ♥ ♥

i went off my facebook friends list so i forgot denne & tabitha but i added you on the computer... sorry xD
