This is a magical nursery which has had many owners over the many years I have been going there. The new team is outstanding and they really know their plants. I have recently bought a gorgeous Japanese maple (or two) from this nursery and today a cymbidian orchid.

An abandoned house along Annangrove Road, Annangrove, in north-western Sydney. It has been like this for decades. Amazingly the red geraniums that someone planted, may be 100 years ago, or earlier, are still flowering. I have often passed by this house over many years.
In the late 1990s I took my son to swimming school out at Riverstone, and we had to travel there and back to our home at Round Corner (Dural). So we travelled along Annangrove Road - and we always saw this house. No one has ever lived there in recent times.
Today, Saturday 3rd October, 2020, I decided to stop and take a photograph of it in the very late afternoon, at about 5.30pm.
I am not sure when it was built - but I might guess the 1800s.

The complex also had a hillclimb, a motocross track, a little used speedway track and an oiled dirt short circuit track. The circuit closed forever in August 1998.

Pests under a Microscope - Maggot
A coloured scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of the head of a maggot or the larva of a bluebottle fly (Protophormia sp.) with tiny teeth-like fangs extending from its mouth. The maggots of this fly are used medicinally to clean wounds. The maggots are sterilised and placed in the wound, where they feed on dead tissue and leave healthy tissue untouched. Their saliva contains anti- bacterial chemicals which maintain sterility in the area. I have to admit that once it came down to it I had no idea what to post. I was going to do a self portrait but found that I need to practice them a tad more:-D. So I decided that I would start with this shot, it will one day be our home and I suppose the construction process could be considered to be a rather large part of who I am right now, (and for most of 2008). No garden or flowers or spectacular views, yet, but rather exciting.

Coloured scanning electron micrograph of a daddy-long-legs spider (Pholcus phalangioides). Its eight eyes (yellow) are seen at centre. This spider preys on other spiders, injecting them with venom from its fangs (bottom centre). Although native to the tropics it is now a common site in houses worldwide. The daddy-long-legs spider is so called because its legs are around 5 to 6 times the length of its body.
