why? this a very common bird. Leave them alone.

Long-tailed Tit, RSPB Loch Leven.

Male Snow Bunting.

The Snow Bunting is a tough survivor that breeds on frozen tundra in sub-zero temperatures. It's also the most northerly recorded passerine in the world.

Snow Buntings have feathering on their ankles, an adaptation providing added warmth on the high Arctic tundra of North America, Europe, and Russia.

This one is part of a small migrant flock on the North Norfolk coast. Only a handful breed in the UK (in the Cairngorns) but as many as 15,000 spend the winter here - almost exclusively on the coast.

Hawk is probably thinking, hey, get this anklet off me!

If you Favourite...Please comment.

If you FAV, loads of my pics without comment, you WILL be blocked!

Sorry, but I do not post pics to add to your collection!

Please Read This Before Commenting:

While I do appreciate most of the comments that I receive on my photostream… I must admit that I’m really starting to get tired of all those “Awesome Photo”, “Fantastic Work”, or “Really Great” comments that some people make! And while I do add my photos into various different groups (my theory is, the more eyeballs that see my photos, the better)… I do wish that people would also include a few personal words when they paste their group invite into my comment box!

I’m getting the feeling that most of the people who do this don’t even bother to look at my photographs (much less read the descriptions)… and that they’re only commenting on my photos so that I will comment on theirs in return!? I’ve noticed that the people who regularly leave these banal comments on my stream always get hundreds of comments on their own photos… which obviously makes them feel good… and probably makes them think that they are great photographers!?

Well… I have decided that I will not tolerate this practice anymore… from now on I will be deleting any comments that are less than three words long… and I will also be deleting any group invites that do not also include a personal comment! If you really want to tell me that you like one of my photographs… then please take the time to tell me why you like it! But what is muuuch more valuable to me… is if you tell me why you don’t like something I’ve posted! Even if it is only your personal opinion… and not a technical error… I still want to hear about it… please???

So… to get the ball rolling… I’ll tell you what I personally like and don’t like about this image;

I like the quality of the light on the rocks… and the way that the streaky clouds seems to mimic the jagged foreground. I don’t like the fact that there is no clear subject here… and that my eyes are wandering all over the image without finding anything to settle on.

Okay… now let’s see what you can come up with…

Ibn Tulun also added his own innovations: according to architectural historians, this is the first structure to use pointed arches, two hundred years before the European Gothic arch.

The mosque occupies 2.5ha, large enough for the entire Al-Fustat community to gather there to pray on Fridays.

The geometric simplicity of the mosque is best appreciated from the top of the minaret, which also has magnificent views of the Citadel.

Glossy Ibis - In The Wild - Winter '20-'21

Green Cay Wetlands - Jan. 19th, 2021

South Florida - Palm Beach County, FL

*[left-double-click for a closer-look - feather iridescence!]

*[catch them just right and their feathers are Gloriously Glossy!]

Their plumage appears dark, almost blackish, at a distance or in

poor light. At close range, much of the body is maroon, with the wing coverts showing metallic green, bronze, and violet tones. Glossy Ibises frequent almost any wetland environment with shallow water or exposed mud and also readily feeds in farm fields or open areas where soils are moist. - Sheen is amazing! Fun to observe.

This ostrich chick was photographed in the wild in the Kgalagadi.

I twisted this trying to ollie over a the flat of a driveway. Buggered up the landing and rolled my ankle, when I got home Brian took this big of my big ass ankle. Shortly after this was taken I found out I couldn't actually walk... It wasn't that bad really but doesn't my spartan leg hair look weird thanks to the flash?

Captured as we drove by this shopping centre in Mumbai.

Hope you have been enjoying the first day of the new year.

From my recent travel archives

Boulder Beach along the eastern side of the Park Loop Road. Park rangers won't acknowledge this beach. While I don't have the exact directions, I believe you go past the Gorham Mtn parking lot and the very next parking area is where you park. Go across the road and there is a path down to the beach. Go at low tide and be very careful getting around. The beach is an "ankle buster".

Weather conditions were not good on this day with a light rain falling. Combined with the mist coming from the ocean waves it was nearly impossible to keep my lens clean even with trying to use an umbrella. I took numerous shots but this one was the cleanest. I hope I managed to adequately remove the water spots off the image. Need to get back here. I think this was my favorite location in the park.

Thanks for viewing my photos. Comments are always welcome.
