De roodrugparkiet komt uit Australië

In de Londense dierentuin werd de roodrugparkiet rond 1850 voor het eerst met succes in avicultuur gekweekt. De eerste kweekresultaten in Nederland dateren van 1865.

Maken leuke geluidjes, een mooi en zacht melodieus gezang.

Opvallend is dat ze vaak pas op het laatste moment wegvliegen als ze benaderd worden.

Zijn vaak in de nabijheid van water te vinden.
