Bird Island | Seychelles - a privately owned, remote, coral sand cay island situated in the Indian Ocean just south of the equator, some 1200km off the East African coast - the northernmost island of the Seychelles archipelago.
Greater Crested Tern (Thalasseus bergii)
A large tern with a yellow bill, angular head and short black shaggy crest. There are six recognized races of this bird worldwide - the Thalassinus race breeds in Tanzania, Chagos (south of the Maldives), Rodrigues (outer island of Mauritius) and some of the Seychelles outer islands. There are usually a dozen or so of them on Bird Island when we visit in October, generally preferring the remote north point beach area.

A few years back, I attended a camera club meeting about street photography. One of the attendees asked about the privacy of those that you photograph, and the speaker responded “as long as they are in public, there should be no expectation of privacy.” A drone blurs this line even further; while a photo taken 300 feet away will to show fantastic resolution, you can easily see my neighbors back yards in this photo.
The late afternoon sun caught my eye on the city council building highlinghting the 7 flashes of yellow features.
This is SOOC and just a lift on the midtones for the shadows on the RHS.
