To see these in stereo, use the cross-eyed technique.

The highly inclined sedimentary rock units are part of the Twist Gulch Formation of Middle Jurassic age. They consist of fairly friable siltstones and fine grained sandstones. Laying unconformably on top of the Twist Gulch Formation are the lighter horizontal beds of the Mid-Paleocene Flagstaff Formation. These light colored beds are primarily sandstones.

Above the Flagstaff formation lie the Colton Formation, and the Green River Formation (upper Paleocene to Eocene).

Reflection in windows at entrance to Derwent House

This guy was snoring away across from me. I don't know how he could sleep at that precarious angle. But I do know, from the expressions of those around me, that fellow riders were not really amused.

A rare Italian armet, circa 1490-1500. With hemispherical skull rising to an angular low comb slotted for fitting a crest and the rear of the skull extending to form a characteristic narrow tail, fitted with large deep reinforce over the brow, the forward edge with outwardly flanged inward turn, the inner edge cut to form accentuated cusps and fitted with external pivoted hinges for the visor, with internally hinged large cheek-pieces closed by a stud at the chin and almost meeting at the rear, the sides drawn in along the jaw, swept outwards at the base and flared towards the rear, the right-hand cheek-piece replaced, the faceopening finished with an outward turn, studded with lining rivets around the base of the neck and with a later fluted disc-guard and moulded peg fitted over the rear closure, "sparrows' beak" visor formed without breathes and with the arms fitting over the pivot hinges, and complete with a detachable low wrapper formed with two articulated lames. H: 29 cm - L: 32 cm - W.: 19.5 - Wt.: 3110 g. Wrapper Wt.: 450 g. The form of close helmet referred to as an armet is characterised within the 15th century by the unique construction of the sides which are hinged at a point above the ear and closed at the front beneath the lower edge of the visor. The armet is the direct evolution of the earlier bascinet and its sculptural qualities have given it an iconic place in the development of Italian Gothic armour. The Italian armet in its fully developed form is chronicled by Paolo Uccello in his series of paintings of the Route of San Romano painted between 1454 and 1457, and also in a tapestry "The Gathering of the Knights" from the famous suite of ten woven in Bruxelles circa 1500-1515 and depicting the life of David and Bethsabรฉe (Musรฉe de la Renaissance franรงaise, ร‰couen, ECL 1613-1622). Centres of production in Flanders, England, Germany, and Spain copied the Italian armet. The group of armours forming the celebrated find in the church of Santa Maria della Grazie in Mantova includes a broad corpus of designs charting the range of the development of the Italian armet from circa 1440 to 1510. An example closely paralleled with the present armet is preserved in the Casa della Contandinanza, Udine. See, BOCCIA, Lionello G., Le armature di S. Maria delle Grazie di Curtatone di Mantova e l'armatura Lombardia del ?400, 1982, fig. 164. For a comprehensive discussion of the development of the Italian armet, see BLAIR, Claude, European Armour, 1958, pp. 86-91.

It's another one of those classy American motors, with a stylish design but angular design, but made up for with raw amounts of US gas guzzling, fume spewing power.

The Chevy Caprice has become an icon of the American motor market, being made famous by way of becoming New York yellow taxi cabs and police cars. But even in the world of family cars the Caprice was a truly magnificent motor in the early 1990's, with plenty of space in the back for the school run or the shopping trip.

This particular Caprice is of the 3rd generation, built between 1977 and 1990, and is also one of the final variants built in the last four years as a Brougham 4-door saloon.

Brougham models included seating with armrests in the front, an updated pillow design complimented with velour fabric, a woodgrain dashboard, dome map light, front-door courtesy lights and 20oz carpeting. Power window controls for all models moved from the door panel to the armrest for improved ergonomics.

It was therefore a very good car in my mind, but much like American cars, very heavy on the fuel costs.

Kuro's best spin of the day. The lighting here sure does get tricky, especially with partly cloudy days and shifting clouds. Exciting stuff.
