In New York City, public urination is a civil offense, not a criminal offense, and is covered by Section 16-118 of the Administrative Code. First-time offenders can receive a fine of up to $75, with subsequent offenses within 12 months resulting in fines of $250–$350 for a second offense and $350–$450 for a third offense. Offenders will receive a civil ticket instead of a criminal summons and will not have a criminal record if found guilty. Administrative courts may also require offenders to perform community service.
The Thornless Honeylocust, scientifically known as Gleditsia triacanthos var. inermis, is a large deciduous tree that grows 30 to 40 feet tall and is known for its lack of thorns, making it suitable for urban landscapes and children's gardens. It is drought-tolerant, casts light shade, and produces small, yellow leaves in the fall.

In the mid-1980's I had attended photography school in this red bricked corner mansion, which stands at 94th Street and Fifth Avenue, directly across from Central Park in New York City. Isn't that wild. From the early 1970's thru until the late 1990's, The International Center of Photography (ICP) had its founding location, museum and school situated in the Willard D. Straight house, a mansion built along NYC's famed museum mile

This is the second time I've ordered Noren (curtains) from this company, Sand Snow, based in Lithuania. The quality for the price is incredible. I am very specific with certain things in my life, and this is a winner.
The yellow Noren I purchased is called "Chartreuse Yellow," which I found interesting — as that's similar to the name of a famous French liqueur, Yellow Chartreuse, named by the monks of the Chartreuse monastery in the mountains of southeast France, who began producing it in the 17th century. I'm sure there's some historical reason they used that specific name for the yellow. It all fascinates me. History.

INSPIRATION
The siren was created by Terry Heckler, a corporate artist and creative partner of Starbucks founder Gordon Bowker. Heckler was inspired by a 16th century Norse woodcut of a two-tailed siren. The siren's hair is similar to ocean waves, a reference to Seattle's (in the U.S. State of Washington) proximity to the sea.
MEANING
The siren is a metaphor for the siren song of coffee, luring people to the brand. The siren's mythical and mysterious appeal is intended to convey the idea that Starbucks seduces coffee lovers. From European myths and alchemy, her two tails represent dualities, such as earth and water, or body and soul
DESIGN
The siren has been updated over the years, but the siren remains at its core. The latest design includes asymmetry, such as a dipped nose on the right side of the siren's face. This was done to avoid making the siren look too perfect.

A new rendering has been revealed for 29-15 40th Road, an upcoming 12-story residential building in Long Island City, Queens. Few details have been made public about the project, which is being designed by Fogarty Finger Architects and developed by SB Development, which also acquired the adjacent lot at 29-13 40th Road for $8.7 million last fall.
Permits have been filed for an eight-story mixed-use building at 37-22 30th Street in Astoria, Queens. Located between 37th and 38th Avenues, the lot is between the 36th and 39th Avenue subway stations, served by the N and W trains. Arthur Klansky of Ashlar Mechanical Corp. is listed as the owner behind the applications.
The proposed 70-foot-tall development will yield 20,642 square feet, with 17,640 square feet designated for residential space and 3,002 square feet for manufacturing space. The building will have 14 residences, most likely condos based on the average unit scope of 1,260 square feet. The concrete-based structure will also have a cellar and seven enclosed parking spaces.
