New Rendering Revealed For 29-15 40th Road in Long Island City, Queens

newyorkyimby.com/2024/04/new-rendering-revealed-for-29-15...

A new rendering has been revealed for 29-15 40th Road, an upcoming 12-story residential building in Long Island City, Queens. Few details have been made public about the project, which is being designed by Fogarty Finger Architects and developed by SB Development, which also acquired the adjacent lot at 29-13 40th Road for $8.7 million last fall.

A few days ago Honor launched its Holly smartphone and, while the hardware itself seemed fairly unremarkable, the promotion accompanying it turned a few heads.

Ahead of its on-sale date, the mid-range Android phone was initially priced at £109.99. But Honor pledged that this sum would plummet ...

I see this quite often along my walks to/from my office, though mostly with cinched filled baggies. The fine for public urination must be more than littering, though with the baggies and this bottle, it should be a double penalty

--

In New York City, public urination is a civil offense, not a criminal offense, and is covered by Section 16-118 of the Administrative Code. First-time offenders can receive a fine of up to $75, with subsequent offenses within 12 months resulting in fines of $250–$350 for a second offense and $350–$450 for a third offense. Offenders will receive a civil ticket instead of a criminal summons and will not have a criminal record if found guilty. Administrative courts may also require offenders to perform community service.

My neighborhood desperately needs additional supermarkets and for the past several years now there's been a huge influx of Asian citizens moving into the area. Whoever's responsible for constructing this Asian-centric supermarket is going to make a fortune

Aviation High School, officially named Aviation Career & Technical Education High School, is a public high school owned and operated by the New York City Department of Education. Formerly known as the Manhattan School of Aviation Trades (SAT), Aviation High School has operated since 1936.

It is in the Long Island City neighborhood of the New York City borough of Queens. The school accepts students from all five boroughs according to the NYC screened school process. The main focus of the school is to train licensed Federal Aviation Administration airframe and powerplant technicians.

An airframe license certifies mechanics to work on the aircraft body while a powerplant license certifies them to work on the engine.

School motto:

"Where Dreams Take Flight!"

That additional street sign, Jodie Lane, is in memory of that young woman who lived in this area and had been out walking her dogs one January day back in 2004, when she stepped on an electrified ConEd box, right there on the street, and was instantly electrocuted. Miss Lane had been a Columbia University grad student.

When it comes to photography, many times I can be unconventional, in that why must one point a camera down at something, or level with a subject. Why even look through the viewfinder at all? Why not just take a photo from the ground up, literally, or from within the branches of a flowering shrub or tree for that matter.

Everything

~ by Srikanth Reddy

She was watching the solar eclipse

through a piece of broken bottle

when he left home.

He found a blue kite in the forest

on the day she lay down

with a sailor. When his name changed,

she stitched a cloud to a quilt

made of rags. They did not meet,

so they never could be parted.

So she finished her prayer,

& he folded his map of the sea.

History of New York City's Poetry in Motion (excerpt)

Inspired by a similar program in London, Poetry in Motion was launched by MTA New York City Transit in 1992. From the beginning, works for series were selected by representatives from the MTA and the Poetry Society of America. The first four poems to appear were "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry" by Walt Whitman, "Hope is the Thing with Feathers" by Emily Dickinson, "When You Are Old" by William Butler Yeats, and "Let There Be New Flowering" by Lucille Clifton.
