Quercus alba, or white oak, is a large, long-lived tree native to eastern and central North America. It can grow over 100 feet tall and 38–50 inches in diameter, with a wide, irregular crown and horizontal branches. Completed in 1917, the Queens Blvd viaduct runs for an eighth of a mile along the center of Queens Boulevard between 32nd Pl. and 47th Street. Its most defining feature is the hundreds of arches with a mysterious resonance that changes from the center of each arch to their edges; at points the echoes overlap, propelling the resonance back and forth between each arch — something that can only be experienced to believe. This Resonant Space is a NYC treasure.

I never understood this pricey restaurant situated in the middle of Central Park, NYC. Here people sip expensive cocktails along the water's edge or dine on the finest cuisine; host elaborate Page Six worthy weddings with resplendent receptions or attend art exhibits, all the while, steps away, in the adjacent woodland known as The Rambles, men are having anonymous sex with each other. It's all so bizarre and awesome.

Notice the light on the front of the fountain. That's a reflection from the myriad of nearby glass towers. No longer are they constructing new buildings of brick. Only steel and glass. If you venture into Manhattan on a sunny day, you'll notice squares of reflected light projected all over the place. Only us photographers would take notice of such a thing

History of the site:

After 40 years in business the Neptune Diner located in Astoria, Queens, NYC served its last meal on Sunday, July 29. 2024. The owners claimed they were not given a chance to renew their lease, because the property will soon be turned into a residential building.

Since 1983, The Katsihtis brothers have owned the building on Astoria Boulevard but not the land, which was sold in 2018 for over $10 million.

The brothers also had a 35-year lease which expired in 2019. But since then, they were not able to come to a long-term agreement with the landlord.

But that's what Long Island City/Astoria needs is another apartment building. It's already so overbuilt, it's ridiculous. Yet they keep tearing them down and building new ones, many of which are luxury rentals. The neighborhood is losing its character to steel and glass.

Today was my first time tasting bubble tea (Passion fruit and green tea) and those tapioca pearls on the bottom of the glass reminded me of the frogs eggs from The Mandalorian, which the Baby Yoda couldn't get enough of. That was such a great episode
