William Tarr’s 1974 weathering Cor-Ten steel black sculpture stands atop the plaza of Martin Luther King Jr. High School down the street from Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side at 66th and Amsterdam. All four sides of this cube include important dates in the life of the civil rights leader as well as famous quotes.

The cube is also covered with lots of cryptic initials. BTWHS/MC/CTS/BU is a list of his schools: Booker T. Washington High School, Morehouse College, Crozer Theological School and Boston University. SCLC/MIA are the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Montgomery Improvement Association. On another side are the initials of his family: CSK is Coretta Scott King, and and a block with his four children: Yolanda King, Martin Luther King III, Dexter King and Bernice King. ‘RDA stands for the Rev. Ralph D. Abernathy; ‘JJ for the Rev. Jesse Jackson and ‘BR for Bayard Rustin. Among the dates in his life are 12/10/64, for his acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize and 4/4/68 for the date of his assassination.

About the Artist:

William (Bill) Tarr (1925 – 2006) was a sculptor, painter, photographer, magician, bestselling author, husband, father, and dedicated artist for over 50 years. His monumental public works have been seen by millions from all over the world, and his 30 x 30 x 30 ft. welded steel memorial to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King is perhaps New York City’s most renowned public work. Yet, Bill remains relatively unknown.

In music, syncopation is a variety of rhythms played together to make a piece of music, making part or all of a tune or piece of music off-beat. More simply, syncopation is "a disturbance or interruption of the regular flow of rhythm"

The individual windows and door of this building remind me of The Syncopated Clock song and visual from the CBS TV show titled "The Late Show", which my parents frequently watched when I was a child. And I think about that whenever I walk past this building, which is typically twice per weekday on way to and from my office.

"The Syncopated Clock" is a piece of light music by American composer Leroy Anderson, which has become a feature of the pops orchestra repertoire.

Absolutely not. I am going to own it my way

This morning it had been so beautiful outside. Cold and windy, though bright sun and blue skies. A treat for us New Yorkers, as we've had overcast days and rain for much of the past week.

Edwardian architecture usually refers to a Neo-Baroque architectural style that was popular for public buildings in the British Empire during the Edwardian era. Architecture up to 1914 is commonly included in this style. It can also be used to mean various styles in middle-class housing, including relaxed versions of Arts and Crafts architecture.

Operation Pets Alive (operationpetsalive.org) had a booth at the "International Winter on the Waterway" (iWoW) event, held, November 17, 2012. We had a booth filled with hand-made pet-related crafts (including wonderful handsewn aprons in many patterns), along with a "Polar Express" theme, complete with a perfectly-attired "Mrs. Claus". The booth was a huge success.

These large doves were lit as part of the kick-off of the holiday season in The Woodlands, Texas.

I wanted to show off my new Android phone, so here it is. Did I mention it's the coolest phone ever, well ya I know all about the iphone too, but who cares when you have an android. First few days can be very addictive, been busy downloading all the apps, and especially the ones I would use frequently like google reader and ofcourse flickr. And flickr has a cool android app, very good also uses some old algorithm where you can view updates on pics you commented.

P.S - It's quite chilly in Bangalore, so much for a tropical climate. The weather display is also an App :) I love my new phone.
