Androids act as a team but think differently. Is that so-called team work?

Android 1.6 has preliminary functionality for storing credentials in a secure safe/keychain. This is equivalent to Firefox's master password or OS X's keychain.

Unfortunately the classes that provide this API are "hidden," meaning they're subject to change in future versions of Android. See my blog post for a little more information.

This is the home screen I am using now on my iPhone 4.

I use GridLock to place the icons in their respective places.

No Page Dots and RemoveDock are used and they do exactly what they say they do.

AndroidLoader holds all the apps in one easy to access place.

SBSettings shows the RAM usage and the date in the status bar.

PerPageHTML with the HTC Weather Animated addon displays the clock. I used iFile to go in and set my hometown, fahrenheit temperatures, and to get rid of the 7-day forecast that displays under it.

Wallpaper is from the Pimp My Screen app.

Going to prototype with it on a chronic disease project.

Not thoroughly impressed, but they shipped and it works! That's impressive.

The buttons are out of control and it doesn't have a good hand-feel, but still nifty.

Now onto doing something with it... that's meaningful.

The HOT Team is doing some experimentation with Android phones for collecting data for OpenStreetMap. We met up with a local software developer, and this is his gaming rig. He's into Call of Duty.

In his day job he's gone from normal software development into producing mobile apps for documenting the tens of thousands of homeless Haitians.

I'm in Haiti volunteering with the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team, training locals how to create maps with OpenStreetMap. If you aren't familiar with it, it's a wikipedia-style map of the world where anyone can edit it. It was heavily used immediately after the earthquake as a way to adapt the map to changing conditions, and is being used by several groups during the reconstruction.
