EXPLORE. September 13, 2008
I know that most of the Southern United States is reeling from the aftermath of two recent very powerful and devastating hurricanes - Hurricane Gustav which unrelentingly pounded us here in Baton Rouge and the rest of our beloved Louisiana, and Hurricane Ike which caused enormous destruction with its winds and flooding last night and today, in South Texas, and again, here in South Louisiana.
Today I wanted to post something to cheer us up. I remembered, thought about this shot I took a couple months back. I realized, it would be perfect.
Here is Timon (in the foreground, belting it out on a high note! Well, seemingly!) and Pumbaa (in the background, arms raised to the heavens) ranting and raving and singing their hearts out to "Hakuna Matata!"
:)
Hakuna matata is a Swahili phrase that is frequently translated as "no worries".
(*In 1994 the American animated movie The Lion King brought the phrase international recognition, featuring it prominently in the plot and devoting a catchy song to it. A meerkat and a warthog, named Timon and Pumbaa respectively, teach the main character, a lion cub named Simba, that he should forget his troubled past and concentrate only on the present. ~ Source: Wikipedia )

Night and day
might come go
and the surreal overcome reality
but I am here.
I will be here.
For I have withstood
the tests of time
with you by my side.
And weathered
change
and jubilated
in triumph.
And you were there
right by me.
Now, allow me.
To stand by you.
Right here.
Right now.
Again I take a break, from my long-exposures this time, to present my tribute to Virginia.... imago2007 for Imago(ism) Thursday. [See, V, I took this shot in May... And I see this creation of yours.... Yes, great minds think alike, indeed! :) ]
(Behind the scene: The ethereal blue is the concrete top of my front courtyard brick fence, where, my copper gas lamp is set at. To the right is this lamp, below are my azalea bush (can't see it here). I simply toned down the brightness on this creation... The dark shades came up and the "sun" was narrowed - the "sun" was actually the afternoon sky. Used my Nikkor 105mm lens. I love this lens! )
About a month ago, my wife and I were on our mini-honeymoon to Las Vegas. All the hotels have such extravagant interiors decked out with all kinds of textures. I was going texture/abstract shutter happy while there.
This image is from a wall in a restaurant we ate at the first night. Something just struck me about it and I had to take some shots of it. Turned out pretty decent don't you think?
I think I'm going to start doing the whole watermark thing on my images so I'm testing it on this one. What do you guys think of the watermark and how it looks?

My alter (blog) ego, The Lawtographer.
a tiny spot in the night sky, sightseeing in your own city, a train holding a painted guy, me choosing my footwear, me waiting for a bus or a call, smoking a cigarette...
the tiny spot turned out to be a UFO.
tiny spot in the universe...
Son... Father (An An abstract)
And in my days of somber and dark
will you accompany me?
You don't have to hold my hand
just stand beside me
and then you'll let me know
that all is well.
And if the shadows
overcome my light
torch them out
with the wisdom
of the great lights
you always saved
for me.
I may not be
able to.
You may not either.
Come to meet face to face
hold and touch
you
in deference...
in reverence.
Not anymore just now.
Just now.
But I still leave this empty space
right here
beside me
only for you
as I walk to where
someday we both
on the level
can meet again.
A "revisit" of my "Father and Son" photo.
I saw and shot this from a rusted barn roof off Tucker Road. South Louisiana.
On the outside terrace of Barista Coffee on the Mall road in Mussoorie.
I forget what was written on the wall behind...its actually a path going up to a hotel...maybe it was Silver-something and the I was missing!
I loved all the lines, shadows and angles here.
The waiters thought I was mad for taking photos like this :-)
