Antennae all about. Probably has high speed internet, eh? Satellite dish. Not quite sure about indoor plumbing but if there's wifi, who cares?

seen on Denman Street this weekend. The sign for the new Shoreline development is advertising the repurposing of the former Landmark Hotel. We always use their parking lot when we come to Denman Street. From the website it sounds like it going to be pretty swish but I notice there are no prices quoted for these apartments. I remember my first bachelor apartment in the Westend was $211 a month. It was on the seventh floor and had a view of English Bay, and also came with cockroaches, free of charge :) but that was way back in the golden year of 1978 ...

Here's another image from Stockton, Ca. While not as old as the main sign, I really like the RCA sign that you would see on so many motels back in the good old days. I also recall how many started adding "HBO free in your room" type signs when that came out. I think by then, the "Color TV" ones were becoming obsolete.
Anyway, thanks for having a look and considering signs and what they mean. What do they mean?

It may be an ironic statement pertaining to the lack of amenities along this stretch of the river, or it may be an example of rugged self reliance. Or neither of these.
Near a point where it is unclear to me whether this is Eastcourt Marshes or Shornemead Marshes, but a place where anglers may sit and ponder what they may ponder while awaiting fish, or drinkers may drink, or the weary tarry as they rest their bones, or pyromaniacs set fires..
Across the river, international capital is at work: a ship, Sertao, under 'arrest' due to unpaid bills and moored off Tilbury as it was cheaper than leaving it up north: the slow demolition of Tilbury B power station to make room for the expansion of Tilbury Docks, whose major shareholder, I read, is the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) of Canada.

My day starts with friends in our neighborhood Olympic pool. There are rumors that the board plans to fill 2/3 of it in. The priority always seems to be the golf courses and the rest of the amenities are sacrificed. I would be very blue if that happened. ODC: one color
