**Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 74000663, date listed 6/7/1974
Wright Sq.
Savannah, GA (Chatham County)
The Federal Building and United States Courthouse in Savannah, Georgia, is a U-shaped marble building which fronts Wright Square on the east.
When completed in 1899, the Post Office had thirty-two rooms occupied by various federal agencies. It was heated by steam and open fireplaces with gas logs. Due to extensive renovations, few evidences of the early appearance of the interior are visible, although some of the original oak paneling and mantels remain intact. The courtroom has been altered considerably.
The Federal Building and United States Courthouse in Savannah is prominently located on Wright Square in the downtown section. Although "historic" Savannah is identified generally with an earlier period, the Federal Building makes an important visual contribution to the city architecturally. A notable representation of its period and built in the Second Renaissance Revival style, it is one of the more distinguished and imposing structures of the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries in Savannah,
The site of the Federal Building is historically important, James Edward Oglethorpe, the founder of Georgia, erected a courthouse on the site, where, among other events, John Wesley preached during 1736 and 1737. (1)

I'm sharing here on Flickr a (long) series of photos, taken in early August this year, during a short vacation in Calabria, at a holiday village located near a beach I've been frequenting with my family for several years now, during our short summer vacations. The setting, however, is very different from the beaches I normally frequent near my home in Taormina, with very crowded beaches and a sea that is also very popular with yachtsmen of all kinds. In this part of Calabria, the beaches are rarely crowded (except on weekends, but not too much). In short, it's a sort of almost tropical paradise, with very little yachting. Adjacent to the holiday village is a kitesurfing club, very popular with enthusiasts of this wonderful sport, which thrives on the sea and the wind. I photographed an 84-year-old kitesurfer, whose mettle is steely, still giving athletes much younger than him a run for their money. A friendly and sweet horsewoman from the nearby stables arrived unexpectedly in the beach village, accompanied by her father, both astride two magnificent colts. This created a moment of joy and curiosity for both the parents and their little ones, who were likely seeing these magnificent and docile animals up close and personal for the first time. Unexpectedly, a very special party broke out on the beach. Seeing it made me feel like I was no longer in Calabria, but rather transported to the other side of the globe, to the Hindu festival called Holi, with its throwing of colored powders (in India, this festival marks the end of winter and the arrival of spring, as well as symbolizing the victory of good over evil). I know it thanks to the evocative photographs often published on various photography websites.
I'll end by briefly mentioning the photographic technique I've often used in my photographs. I've created "blur" photographs—blurry, slightly blurry, and unfocused—at the time of shooting, simply by lengthening the exposure time and then also using some panning. Finally, I'd like to thank the sweet and beautiful models who posed for me, allowing me to further enhance this (long-winded) photographic story.
………………………………………………………………………..

So this week the girls were assigned a throwback challenge, where we complete one of the iconic themes from BNDM's past. Maci & I chose Hippiez. We had to draw inspiration from the groovy Earthy style of the late 60's-early 70's and create a Woodstock-worthy summer hippie look! I've included several hippie trends, like the floppy sunhat, the big, round, colorful glasses, Earth tones of course, chunky boots, and as many fringed pieces as possible! Tie-dye is probably one of the most recognizable staples of the era, so she's posing in front of a tie-dye background! I also added the "1960's" Time Machine filter that my editor has :)

Roughly bounded by Bluff, Eighth, Lake, and First Streets
Lake City, CO (Hinsdale County)
Established in 1875 as a way station on the Saguache-San Juan Toll Road, Lake City, Colorado, is an important historic mining town nestled in the foothills of the San Juan Mountains. There are almost no modern intrusions within the town and, as a result, the ambiance, created by the log cabins, frame houses, and the historic stone commercial structures, remains intact.

**Arlington Ridge Park** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 09000688, date listed 9/4/2009
NW corner of N. Meade St. and Marshall Dr.
Arlington, VA (Arlington County)
"In honor and in memory of the men of the United States Marine Corps who have given their lives to their country since November 10, 1775."
On the morning of February 19, 1945, the 4th and 5th Marine Divisions invaded Iwo Jima after an ineffective 72-hour bombardment. The 28th Regiment of the 5th Division, was ordered to capture Mount Suribachi. They reached the base of the mountain on the afternoon of February 21 and, by nightfall the next day, had almost completely surrounded it. On the morning of February 23, Marines of Company E, 2nd Battalion, started the tortuous climb up the rough terrain to the top. At about 10:30 am men all over the island were thrilled by the sight of a small American flag flying from atop Mount Suribachi. That afternoon, when the slopes were clear of enemy resistance, a second, larger flag was raised in the same location.
Joe Rosenthal of the Associated Press caught the afternoon flag-raising in an iconic photograph that eventually won a Pulitzer Prize. Sculptor Felix W. de Weldon, then on duty with the US Navy, was so moved by the image that he constructed first a scale model and then a life-size model of it.
Thirty-two foot high figures are shown raising a 60-foot bronze flagpole. The flag flies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by presidential proclamation.
The entire cost of the statue ($850,000) was donated by US Marines, friends of the Marine Corps, and members of the Naval Service. No public funds were used for this memorial. (1)

**Gettysburg National Military Park** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 66000642, date listed 19661015
Gettysburg National Military Park
Gettysburg, PA (Adams County)
Gettysburg National Military Park and the Soldiers' National Cemetery are located in the environs of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Gettysburg battlefield covered an area of about 22 square miles; the national military park comprises 9 square miles of that total area. The Park is composed of two major battlefield areas located to the north and south of the town of Gettysburg, surrounding, but not including the town itself East Cavalry Field is located 3 miles east of Gettysburg.
In Gettysburg on July 1-3, 1863, the armies of the Confederacy and the Union clashed in a battle that was the bloodiest in the history of the continent and was considered one of the tuming points ofthe American Civil War. Neither General George G. Meade, commanding a force of 97,000 men in the Union Army of the Potomac, nor General Robert E. Lee, commanding the 75,000 men in the Confederate Army of Northem Virginia had planned to fight at Gettysburg. More than 51,000 combined casualties (killed, mortally wounded, wounded, and captured or missing) had been inflicted along the streets and on the farmed fields of the community. (excerpts from pg 27-34) (1)
The Edward McPherson Farm, which lies west of town, was the scene of heavy fighting on the first day of battle, July 1, 1863. While Confederate General Henry Heth’s Division advanced towards Gettysburg against defending Union cavalry commanded by General John Buford, Union reinforcements from General John Reynolds’ First Corps arrived. The fields swarmed with soldiers of opposing forces and the McPherson barn (1811-1820) (3 - Civil War Wiki) quickly became a sanctuary for the wounded. When fighting ceased, the barn and home continued as a hospital, leaving the property uninhabitable for months. (2)

Continuing my Titanfall 2 builds, I can present to you the ridiculously hard-hitting Titan Legion.
Legion is the first Titan I build, which is based on the heavy Ogre chassis from the first game. This allowed me to use some sturdier joints and hinges, which comes in handy to hold the big gatling gun.
I also did some minor changes to Ion, updated his pictures and added one of his back.
Since this is my last build for this year, I just want to use this opportunity to say: THANK YOU! :)
2016 marks my first really active year on flickr and I was absolutely blown away by the amazing feedback!
I want to thank all the people who visited my Photostream, who commented, who added my pictures to their favourites and especially my followers and the people who take their time to read all of the nonsense I write :D
I truly appreciate being part of such a great and active community!
I wish you all happy holidays and a wonderful start into the new year!
UPDATE: I added pictures of him without the baseplate.

Ladies and Gentleman meet Rachel Barker
(more on Rachel later)
"The butterfly effect is a metaphor for sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory." - wikipedia.com
The Flickr Effect - Well, we made that up. It sounds cool and it's open-ended enough to be whatever we want it to be really. Currently, we want it to be a showcase/warehouse of some of the cooler sites on the web where images are commonly shared and shared again. So, it's kind of like the Butterfly Effect. And, that's close enough for us.
I've been posting images to Flickr for four years or so. I originally posted 3 images on a whim ( this one, this one and this one) and when I came back a few months later I was a little surprised to see that they were getting some attention. Since then I have found that Flickr is the center of the digital photography universe and what starts at Flickr can end up just about anywhere in the world. Which is cool!
Of the many many many many places our images end-up Tumblr seems to be a pretty popular one. As I roamed around and checked it out I kind of go into it. Like I did with Flickr 4+ years ago. Pretty soon I was using Tumblr's super easy back-end as a portal for my web clients so that they can update their own sites by updating a blog. (computers scare them) One geek-out turns into another geek-out and pretty soon I am neck-deep into Tumblr. I am making blogs for everyting and using URLS I had not touched in gads.
The cool thing about tumblr blogs is you can let other people post. So I am not responsible for all the cooliness that goes on a site... everyone else can chip in pretty soon it's an ocean of coolness.
So this Butterfly Effect thing is as vague as it is profound. I mean really everything is organized chaos and one thing always leads to another. All of those random things I just told you are little twists and turns that brought me to Rachel Barker.
Yep, what started 3 years ago with 3 pictures on flickr and involves me buying URL after URL for site I would eventually get too..... and posting 900+ pictures on Flickr all comes back to This guy who left me my first comment and got me all inspired to post more and comment on other peoples work.. and then try to find ways to mash it all together into other site that had blogged and rebloged the hell out of my images.. and then one weekend I create 3 sites that all use Tumblr.. and then I find this super cool Tumblr Mosaic site.. that randomly picks a cool image from a cool geeky smart, cute girl ....
pause for a breath....
and on her tumblr blog I read about Conan Obrien randomly following some girl (butterfly effect possibly?) and decided that I want to follow the girl that reblogged the post Conan randomly following some girl.... and That... is how I came to know Rachel Barker. A 25 year old undergraduate student majoring in Philosophy... possibly going to law school (little scary) Who likes reading, music, writing, gadgets, technology, Philosophy, movies, internets and cheese.
and now I offer to you: Rachel Barker, Flickr Effect, Tumblr Mosaic, www.daftphoto.com, This guy and lousy as it is brilliant
Ramble complete. Be sure to stop by Rachels places and say hi. She is actually a pretty amazing woman.

**Henderson Hall** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 78001666, date listed 10/2/1978
College Hill
Canton, MO (Lewis County)
Henderson Hall, Culver-Stockton College, Canton, Missouri, faces east from its location on a bluff about one mile from the Mississippi River. Of modified T-shape plan, it is a two-story, red brick structure with full basement. Styled in the Neoclassical manner, the building is dominated by a colossal, tetrastyle Ionic portico and crowned by a dome.
Henderson Hall was built in 1903 to replace the earliest college building, "Old Main," which had burned on March 23rd of the same year. The earlier building, which is pictured in a photograph dating ca. 1888, was an imposing structure designed in the Classical Revival tradition. A three-story, brick structure, it was accented with a colossal, hexastyle portico in the Corinthian order and a central dome.
Although Henderson Hall is by no means an imitation of the first, it is evident that it was designed with the earlier building well in mind. It presents a similarly imposing facade, with a tetrastyle Ionic portico and a central dome. Whereas the earlier building was constructed in the Classical Revival style still popular in Missouri in the 1850's, Henderson Hall well illustrates the Neo-Classical Revival which was current at the beginning of the twentieth century. Viriditas offers a contemplative environment where visitors can experience the sacred through silence, solitude, stillness and spiritual community.
maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Alba%20Mountains/238/22/24...
And this was one of the other three main goals of the trip and certainly the most obscure and least accessible requiring a drive down a sketchy dirt road and then a one way hike down the RofW in brutal 90+ degree heat and humidity. But, when I learned about the only rail tunnel in the state of Oklahoma I knew I needed to see it someday!
This is the Jenson tunnel on Kansas City Southern's modern day Fort Smith branch. The 1180 ft bore was drilled through Backbone Mountain in 1885-86 by the Frisco controlled Fort Smith & Southern Railway back when this was still part of the Choctaw Nation in Indian Territory. The route through the tunnel was once exceptionally busy and has a truly fascinating history. To learn more I highly recommend this pdf: s3.amazonaws.com/dayoneweb/364/1810.pdf Today KCS uses it primarily to serve the OK Foods elevator and a few smaller customers as well as conduct a but of interchange with the Arkansa and Missouri and Fort Smith Railroad shortlines.
KCS began operating over this line on trackage rights after their own Fort Smith branch from Spiro was abandoned following flood damage in 1943. Frisco successor Burlington Northern severed this line which was known as the Arthur Subdivision in 1983 but continued to travel through this tunnel for another year or so down to Poteau and Wister. Once they abandoned the segment from those two points the BN no longer traveled south of Fort Smith and to protect their access KCS leased the line in 1985 then purchased it outright in 1989. Meanwhile in 1986 the balance of the old SLSF Central Division north of Fort Smith was sold to the new Arkansas and Missouri Railroad which runs it to this day.
KCS' 28 mile long branch has many superlative photo ops, but this was tops on my list. Here is the M-F local freight known as the Fort Smith Dodger (train RHV106 03) on the return trip south (railroad west) to the mainline in Poteau and their starting point at Heavener Yard. Leading the in Southern Belle paint are KCS 2976 (GP40-3 rebuild originally blt. Feb. 1981 new for the railroad as GP40-2 796) and 2808 (GP40-3 rebuild originally blt. May 1966 as straight GP40 WP 3503).

An early shot of the Beatles at the Cavern Club in Liverpool; February, 1961. Pete Best was still their drummer at the time.
I suspect that Pete's mom took the photo, as a) she owned the Cavern Club, and b) he really stands out in the shot, despite being in the back. Just a suspicion....

**Cripple Creek Historic District** - National Register of Historic Places Ref # 66000939, date listed 10/15/1966
Rt. 67
Cripple Creek, CO (Teller County)
A National Historic Landmark (www.nps.gov/subjects/nationalhistoriclandmarks/list-of-nh...).
The Cripple Creek-Victor mining district was founded late in comparison to other Colorado mining towns. Though gold had been found as early as 1874, it was not until Bob Womack's discovery in Poverty Gulch, after 15 years of unsuccessful prospecting, that the area became interesting to other prospectors. The city of Cripple Creek was officially incorporated in 1892. For sometime after the town sprang up, progress was slow as there was not a great influx of miners into the district. In 1891 the population was less than 500, in 1892 about 2,500, but between that time and 1900 the population had grown to more than 25,000 in Cripple Creek and in excess of 55,000 in the district.
The first town was constructed primarily of wood. In 1896 a fire started in a local dance hall. This fire leveled 15 acres of the town. Only four days later the town was completely razed by another fire. The subsequent town was then constructed of brick and a number of these structures remain today. Though few of these structures are outstanding in themselves, they are indicative of the historic fabric of the town. (1)
The Old Homestead (1896) is located on Meyers Avenue which was the center of an extensive "red light" district. A two-story brick building with flat top roof and painted white, the Old Homestead is now operated as a museum. (1)

APR 2005 From the Aeon of Regional Conflicts and World Wars,
to the Epoch of Clashing Civilizations & Global Uniculturalism.
[-] Notes from bilwander's suspended Facebook, now >here [-]
In the times of Globalization & the "progressive" illusion of Multicultural "Coexistence" ( i.e. devastative global uniculturalism ), Clashing Civilizations, Proxy Wars, Blind Terrorism, Uncontrolled Breeding and Consumerism, are ending this World, while ... Comics of ... Iconomics make the most epic failure ever of Democracy in the, so to say, developed societies.
Virtual Economies (thus Iconomies) generating elitist wealth out of deregulated money supply, leveraged credit expansion, permanently rolling-over and exponentially rising debt , impossible to be paid-off in any visible future, along with unsustainable consumption and "growth", and, in the end, extreme global socio-economic, geopolitical, environmental and even health crises.
Crises of Massive Poverty, Misery and Migration, on a planet already crowded, littered, polluted and exploited to its limits; a planet where the wealthy suffer from diseases of affluence & longevity, and contaminated food, while the poor die early from malnutrition and lack of basic hygiene and medical care.
World Population and Inequality (Wealth Distribution Gap) grow faster than the Gross World Product (GWP) while Natural Resources are Draining Out, and Long-term Structural Unemployment & Poverty will deterministically continue to rise for at least this whole century as far as Governments and Peoples continue to ignore and defy the most crucial macroeconomic parameter (i.e. World Demographic Trend) and the factors (Population Size & Quality) that define the Welfare Equation. In simple words : :
The More People On Earth The Much Worse Their Life Gets
The Mother of All Evil and Misery
In The Epoch of the Infinite Evolution of Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics and Eugenics, the forecasts for World Poverty are gravely pessimistic as far as the vast majority of people continue to over-exercise Outdated Reproductive Rights, without basic knowledge, responsibility and resources, or, even worse, with criminal and/or genetically detrimental records, factually instigating and perpetrating the most massive, continuous and silent Genocidal Crime of human history alongside an Overpopulation of self-condemned people ...
A more than obvious global crime, yet ignored and absent from any agenda, a taboo not even to be quoted within a defiant World Society and an idle Academic Community; the Mother of All Evil and Misery, a ticking time-bomb of total destruction whereas populist regimes and the hypocrisy of political correctness dominate and govern the populace ...
Family Planning, Genetic Engineering and, nowadays, Sexual Transgenderism (and eventually Androidification ) though yet far from consisting mainstream social procedures, and even with law deficits, are increasingly practiced altering already the traditional patterns of human reproduction and social institutions, thus defining the rise of a new epoch within the Anthropocene.
Qualitatively Controlled Human Reproduction by individual choice, assisted by Sperm & Ova Banks via Modified DNA and combination of superior genetic "materials" along with Artificial Intelligence, will eventually lead to intellectual and physical abilities, unprecedentedly superior to those of Homo Sapiens and its contemporary Universalis, so defining the species of the Androidified Human; a Homo Superius of “his/her/its” kind; the product of the Contemporary Dark Ages where Obsolete Reproductive Rights encroach and override Basic Human Rights, transforming the decadent democracies into de facto regimes of Extreme Populism, Anarchy, Illegalism, Oligarchy & Tyranny ....
In the future, most likely, even fewer countries and smaller populations than today will be able to obtain & maintain high standards of living, provided that they manage to sustain robust, technologically advanced and fiscally+monetarily disciplined economies, secured energy self-sufficiency/accessibility, demographic sustainability along with social security and geopolitical stability with effective control & regulation of the migration influx and its intensifying impact and destabilizing potential on the function of the, so to say, 'developed' economies and societies, and presuming that a global catastrophe like a nuclear war or a galactic "accident" would not eventually occur on planet Earth ....

It's the People, stupid ! (15 APR 2016)
As usual, Soros just speaks out about preserving the Bubble of World Economy for as long as possible...
Who does actually care or can make a difference about next generations, peoples, people, proxy wars, clashing civilizations, migrants or refugees ? ... simply no one
The Bubble, like any bubble, has an undated, but deterministically approaching Burst Out Day .... and the World is already bankrupt in effect and long before the evolving Economic Meltdown, just because of its unregulated and unsustainable population size .....
It's the (Too Many & Stupid) People, Stupid !
