The Alter Lily is very thinly scattered throughout the country, but it is most common in the Southwest and the far Southeast.
It is from the family Araceae
Although seen in gardens it is classed as a seasonal wildflower growing from May to September and this one was on some wasteland.
My Thanks to all who visit and comment it is appreciated

A view of valley in the distance from a mountain ridge that is near Utah Lake. I hiked from where I had parked the truck/ALU-CAB camper to get to this spot before sundown. To my surprise, I discovered a large alter made of flat rocks. Who knows how long it has been there... perhaps from the time of Noah? Adam and Eve? Because I was hiking alone, I was intent on making it back to my overland truck before sundown to avoid possible issues with wild animals (mountain lions, bears)... but I wish I had stayed longer.

The light streaming throught the white and yellow stained glass acted as a "spotlight" to hightlight the Monastery's Alter. This is a combination of two photos. One for the Stained Glass and the other for the rest of the Alter area. I hand blended these two photos together using Photoshop.
Waymouth Street in the Adelaide City. This is a reflection of the Australian Taxation Office from another building. Some may say its a true reflection of our tax system too.
Breathing in the dark, lying on its side
The ruins of the day painted with a scar
And the more I straighten out, the less it wants to try
The feelings start to rot, one wink at a time
Oh-oh, forgiving who you are, for what you stand to gain
Just know that if you hide, it doesn't go away
When you get out of bed, don't end up stranded
Horrified with each stone on the stage, my little dark age
Picking through the cards, knowing what's nearby
The carvings on the face say they find it hard
I know that if you hide, it doesn't go away
If you get out of bed and find me standing all alone
Open-eyed, burn the page, my little dark age
Giddy with delight, seeing what's to come
The image of the dead, dead ends in my mind
You know that if it hides, it doesn't go away
If I get out of bed, you'll see me standing all alone
Horrified on the stage, my little dark age

A macro view of a lens-distorted light switch and decorative plate.
Strobist info:
The switch and plate were illuminated by a single Nikon SB900 speedlight positioned at 5-o'clock and slightly above and behind the camera. It was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄64 power through a 24" x 24" Neewer soft box.
The SB900 was triggered by two PockerWizard Plus X flash triggers.
Lens: Helios 44M-4 f2/58mm with a 20mm extension tube attached.
A few days ago, the above art work appeared overnight on an outside wall of Reading Prison which has stood empty since it closed at the end of 2013. There was immediate speculation it was the work of the street artist Banksy whose identity has never been confirmed despite the fact his numerous works have appeared at various locations over a long period of years.
The paintings often form a social message and can be controversial. Reading Prison is very much a controversial place – it is owned by the Ministry of Justice who have been trying to dispose of it for the last 7 years. For them one of the problems is the property is designated a grade II listed building which means it cannot be demolished or substantially altered without prior consent from the Local Authority – Reading Borough Council. There have been calls for it to be used as a public amenity such as a theatre or arts facility and a deal to redevelop it has fallen through so in effect there has been little or no progress for 7 years.
Yesterday Banksy confirmed it was his art work although he did not shed any light on who the figure was supposed to be. Much of the local view is that it is a representation of Oscar Wilde, the Victorian actor, writer and poet who was incarcerated there from 1895 to 1897 – probably the prisons main claim to fame.
It is questionable as to whether the painting helps or hinders the current deadlock although it has provided some amusement for local residents in what is otherwise a depressing time!
