Here is an alternate build I made in a competition with eight builders from InnovaLUG, using only pieces from the set called Lloyd's Mech. Read more about the competition and vote for the best alt build on the InnovaLUG website! Thanks for viewing!

The SDR officials claim that the purpose of the newly installed Nachtigalls is strictly for improving the communications network. Some experts however, point out the possibility that these orbital devices might actually be disguised spaceborne nuclear launchers.

Missed Ma.Ktober by a few months. Started to build back then - but no time to finish until lately. The Nachtigall is an alternate build based on the 10266 Apollo 11 Lunar Lander set. A lot of parts were left unused due to their size (plates mostly).

For various reasons, it's taken me something like a month and a half to get this guy finished and photoed... it's been a busy month, I guess? Not sure if he was worth the wait, but I was determined to build a Medix MCS before I sort the tribes parts out into my general collection (and The Boy steals as many as he can get his hands on!).

Stats? Let's call the things on the forearms electroshock paddles (2Rh), the "tail" a reserve fuel tank (G), and that manful chest armor has to be protective (B). Sound good?

So after / during the EyePOD assembly, Chris (xtopher), Henry (Anitmatter) and Katie (and Rob, not pictured) built some jumbo EyePOD guys...

I built two more...

Any guess on who built what?

2019 was a hugely eventful year for me, which in turn led to fewer builds than usual. I finished around 28, though some of my favorites have yet to be posted (hopefully will get to that before too long).

Highlights include:

- Continuing to expand Brickbuilt's selection of tutorials and build logs.

- Participating in Space Jam, and my youngest brother still enjoys playing with my SP II starfighter for that, so I guess it was a success!

- Building several Elves themed models which was a fun twist on my usual castle themed projects.

- Completing another architecture model for Marchitecture. Predjama Castle is my most complex model to date, and I'm very proud of it.

- Hosting the Summer Joust for the 4th consecutive year. And boy did you all put on a show for us!

- Making some long range contributions to the Eurobricks Potion Shoppe Display at Brickworld.

- Hanging out with InnovaLUG throughout the year, and participating in both our Space Spheres and Alternate Build projects.

- Contributing to eight or so issues of Brick Fanatics Magazine.

- Working with John on another large collaborative: Sabishi Monastery.

- And in general getting to know more people in the community, and continually being amazed by the creativity you all show!

You've likely already noticed that we haven't been posting as much on Brickbuilt lately. 2020 will be a year of big change for me as I'm moving, so that will likely continue to be the case, especially in the first half of the year. Still we will be making new tutorials and build logs, if not as frequently.

Thanks for your continued support, and here's to another exciting year!

Welcome the Skærbæk Pen Pals to the stage:

A rag-tag group of mechs that came together after an alt-build draft challenge at the annual Skærbæk Fanweekend two days ago. Granted I didn't build a single one of these but it was humbling seeing these come together. I had tasked 12 amazingly talented builders to randomly team up in pairs of two to then build a mech that had to include one of the recent LEGO gel pens.

It was a fun and pun-intensive evening as people created the "Pen-etrator" or the "Pen-occhio", and hey, even Marin came back to the game as he and Michael created the "Mecha-Cyclo-Pega-Centaur". Fun!

Hope you like these and the slightly different post today.

We used 60th Anniversary sets and the aforementioned pens for our alt-build-challenge.

Mech Monday is an ongoing project started by Marin and I with the aim to build and post 52 mechs each in 2019 – one every Monday.

Come join the fun by posting a mech, robot or drone on a Monday. Any Monday. Find everyone's builds so far in the Mech Monday flickr group.

If you want a challenge or need inspiration, next week we're doing “Maktober.”

With the rest of my LEGO collection in storage in regions unknown I’ve been crafting alt builds from @LEGO #hiddenside set #70429 El Fuego’s Stunt Plane. This little zoomy flyer is my favorite one so far.

I'd actually half wanted to build this cart back the first time I saw it, but I certainly couldn't pass up such a good opportunity as having to do an alternative build with the 10267 Gingerbread House presented of doing it! The parts were definitely on my side, and although getting the car to stick together wasn't easy, the random candy and baking colors were just about perfect. Ok, so I didn't have enough of the dark magenta as the original, but to be perfectly honest I like my version better anyways, hahaha. And all that white of Sugar Rush castle was not easy to photograph, by the way!

Check out the whole post and the others' alt builds on the the Innovalug website, and be sure to vote for your favorite! C&C welcome as always as well!

Once again a group of InnovaLUG members have teamed up to show the potential even a single set offers for original creations.

This time they're working off of set #10267 Gingerbread House.

So visit InnovaLUG to see what sort of models they chose to create from this tasty set, and cast your vote as to which alt-build is best!

I've also created instructions for this if you are interested in building a version of your own. They are at github.com/Xtopher98/LegoRosharMap

After last year's impromptu kitbash, this year we decided to step it up with Benny's Spaceship! Spaceship! Spaceship! Late Friday we built well into Saturday morning....

NeonBricks donated an AMAZING trophy made out of ALL classic space bricks, with a black classic space fig.

The chosen theme was "Benny's Race Ship" ....

Nick won, but guess which one was his.,,,

Hey all,

From Innovalug we took on the Lloyds Mech(70676) set, and made an alternate build from it. I decided to go for a futuristic swamp boat and a crocodile.

To see the build from the other guys, and read a bit about the background of howmy build came together, Check out the article on the Innovalug site and don't forget to vote!

I hope you enjoy!

Staying true to the spirit of the Lego Movie, this is a battle-ready alt build/remix of the 70804 Ice Cream Machine.

The greebling on the back is probably the weakest part of the build--I was running out of pieces. You can see that there are some seriously illegal building techniques used in the hips.

Stratospheric assault fighter. #altbuild of the Sabre and Turbine Drone kits.

Following our alt build of set 70676 Lloyd’s Titan Mech, we decided to run it back, this time using set 10267 Gingerbread House. Typically, I like to create a finished product that can be viewed from all angles, but I learned to slightly deviate from that mindset this time round. With 1,477 parts at my disposal, I had a harder time thinking of how to maximize the available pieces. I started messing around with the reddish-brown, forming a nice studs down wooden chair. From there, I took advantage of the white plates and tiles to build a desk, and then constructed a wall section of masonry bricks for a more complete scene. The set contains small amounts of many different colors, which made for a colorful collection of books. The result is a cozy interior scene, my first creation at this larger scale. I’m most pleased with the desk drawers, the chair, and the camera.

This is my new alt build for the LEGO 10312 Jazz Club. I call it "Music Shop" although there is also a motorcycle workshop and a much larger psychotherapy practice to find in the building. But imo the music shop dominates the facade 😉

As usual you find the instructions and further pictures at my rebrickable page reb.li/m/170217 and the linked bricksafe gallery.

I hope you like it :)

My attempt to rebuild something with the Creator 3-in-1 shark set, quite a challenging set to work with in my opinion, both the parts and the colours are not that easy to work with... My favourite part would definitely be the turtle shell, and given that both the submarine and the shell are built with leftover, I was quite happy with them too. Hope you guys enjoy my first MOC of the year! 😛

My builds for the InnovaLUG alt-build challenge, using the Gingerbread House set. I had a hard time deciding what to build for this challenge - I first tried a fantasy tower/gateway, but quickly realized I wouldn't have the parts to complete the scene I had in mind. After that I started table-scrapping, and realized the set has a lot of parts that work well for a variety of furniture designs. Then it was just a matter of building a setting for the furniture I came up with - which proved to be more difficult than I first thought it would be. I'm still fairly happy with the end result though, and it was definitely a fun challenge.

Slight variation of my previous alt build of set 70000.

For InnovaLUG’s most recent project, a bunch of us did alternate builds of set 70676 Lloyd’s Titan Mech. This was my second alternate build, having done one with 70808 Super Cycle Chase previously. The abundance of the Nexo Knights shield pieces grabbed my eye immediately, and after some experimenting, I settled on using them as teeth. The rest of the model evolved into a beast that was inspired by Chinese lion costumes used in Lion dances during Chinese festivals. The most difficult part was creating a substantial body and legs, as I had already consumed many pieces for the head. Even though Lloyd’s Titan Mech appears to have many white and olive-green pieces, there isn’t too much when you break it down. Regardless, I’m satisfied with what I ended up with.

I absolutely love the microscale X-Wing Fighter set 30051, so I thought I'd attempt to honour it in Nnovvember 2011 with an alt build in a Vic Viper configuration. Quite a tough little exercise...

Staying true to the spirit of the Lego Movie, this is a battle-ready alt build/remix of the 70804 Ice Cream Machine. It uses almost all of the pieces from the original set (including the parts used to make the included micro manager).

I think it's a lot more deadly than the airplane alt build they show in the movie!

The pilot is actually the girl who is being chased by the micro manager. The crew of the Ice Cream Truck brought the Micro Manager down, but didn't survive the crash. The girl being chased built the mech out of parts from both and is extracting her vengeance!

Alt build from two of Rod's little walkers.

Entry for FBTB.net Gunship Alternate Build Contest. Alternate model built only with parts from 75042 Droid Gunship.

The ZAPPP was designed by legendary galactic outlaw Zippity Aviary, while drinking with several Elite Clones from the 41st Legion. They wanted something that was steady and sturdy enough for a single pilot to handle while managing multiple weapon systems... As soon as Doc Zee heard this he knew he was the right man for the job. Using salvaged parts and some common leftovers from the hundreds of HMP Droid Gunships the clones had destroyed H was able to design a rugged Platform Perfect for Punishment. He knew the Republic wouldn't want one of his designs so he let the clones claim it as their own, and for propaganda the powers that be played along, but the unit's name was no coincidence. ZAPPP!! gunships soon proved their worth. Kashyyyk Clones liked the look down shoot down nose turret slaved to their view with twin heavy blaster cannons almost as much as they loved the rapid fire laser canons which, in typical Zee Ay fashion, were colocated with the primary power generation units that powered the oversized repulsorlift drives and twin engines. Of course it wouldn't be an Aviary classic without twin proton torpedo launchers and even a pair of Heavy Anti-Vehicle Missles from the Droid Gunships themselves, which it turned out were especially effective against Tank Droids, but even more fun to launch into massed battle droids.

Zippity had no doubt he had the right stuff, but the Clones didn't realize just what they were getting in for. Although it wasn't quite an aircraft, and was a bit much for a speeder, the ZAPPP turned out to be the perfect mix of the two, hovering high enough to remain safe from droid potshots, but low enough to use natural cover, while unleashing devastating barrages of fire against the clanker hoards. Commander Gree himself stated on more than one occasion that the ZAPPP was the crucial element in bringing a mission to a successful conclusion. He tried to rename it after several exotic species, but none of the names would stick, much to his chagrin. Zippity's electric smile was never brighter than when he heard another silly name Gree tried sticking on his pet project!

----------

Built in a long morning after pulling apart 75042 for the concert and building the side wing/engine bits first, then using the remaining parts to do the fuselage and cockpit... 2 elements are used to lock the ball joint in the up position, while a stand was made out of much of the leftover technic elements to help stabilize it in certain positions.

As the title would suggest, an alternative model to the Fire Engine of 60002.
