The Gooderham Building, also known as the Flatiron Building, is an historic office building at 49 Wellington Street East in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located on the eastern edge of the city's Financial District (east of Yonge Street) in the St. Lawrence neighbourhood, wedged between Front Street and Wellington Street in Downtown Toronto, where they join up to form a triangular intersection. Completed in 1892, the red-brick edifice was an early example of a prominent flatiron building.
The Gooderham Building is the focal point of one of Toronto's most iconic vistas: looking west down Front Street towards the building's prominent rounded corner, framed on the sides by the heritage commercial blocks along Front Street, and with the skyscrapers of the Financial District towering in the background. The CN Tower is also visible from certain angles behind Brookfield Place. This vista frequently appears in imagery of the city.
Malus sylvestris, the European crab apple, also known as the European wild apple or simply the crab apple, is a species of the genus Malus, native to Europe and western Asia. Its scientific name means "forest apple"
The wild apple is a deciduous small to medium-sized tree, but can also grow into a multi-stemmed bush. It can live 80–100 years and grow up to 14 metres (46 feet) tall with trunk diameters of usually 23–45 centimetres (9–17+1⁄2 inches), although diameters exceeding 90 centimetres (35 in) have been recorded. The leaves are roundish-oval and sometimes hairy on the underside. The hermaphrodite flowers appear in May, slightly preceding hawthorn, have white or pinkish petals and are insect-pollinated. The small pome-fruits are around 3 centimetres (1.2 in) in diameter, ripen in autumn and fall to the ground. The bark is light brown and breaks up in flakes. The branches are thorny, especially in response to pruning or browsing.
In the past M. sylvestris was thought to be the most important ancestor of the cultivated apple (M. domestica), which has since been shown to have been primarily derived from the central Asian species M. sieversii. However, DNA analyses confirm that M. sylvestris has contributed significantly to the genome. They found that secondary introgression from other species of the genus Malus has greatly shaped the genome of M. domestica, with M. sylvestris being the largest secondary contributor. They also found that current populations of M. domestica are more closely related to M. sylvestris than to M. sieversii. However, in more pure strains of M. domestica, the M. sieversii ancestry still predominates.

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia. It lies 335 km (208 mi) south west of the nearest large town, Alice Springs.
Uluru is sacred to the Pitjantjatjara, the Aboriginal people of the area, known as Anangu. The area around the formation is home to an abundance of springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. Uluru is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Uluru and Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas, are the two major features of the Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park.
Uluru is one of Australia's most recognisable natural landmarks. The sandstone formation stands 348 m (1,142 ft) high, rising 863 m (2,831 ft) above sea level with most of its bulk lying underground, and has a total perimeter of 9.4 km (5.8 mi).Both Uluru and the nearby Kata Tjuta formation have great cultural significance for the Aṉangu people, the traditional inhabitants of the area, who lead walking tours to inform visitors about the local flora and fauna, bush food and the Aboriginal dreamtime stories of the area.
Uluru is notable for appearing to change colour at different times of the day and year, most notably when it glows red at dawn and sunset.
Kata Tjuta, also called Mount Olga or the Olgas, lies 25 km (16 mi) west of Uluru. Special viewing areas with road access and parking have been constructed to give tourists the best views of both sites at dawn and dusk.

Also known as Zoro. I was walking Jasper the other day when I saw a flash of red fly by. Too small to be a cardinal or tanager. I'm a bird geek so I got all excited because I thought it was probably a male vermilion flycatcher. Bingo! Its quite common in the southern part of Arizona, but I'd never seen one in the Phoenix area. Then I saw him again last night so I ran and got my camera with bird lens. I just love the Zoro mask on this guy. Apparently the vermilion flycatchers are romantics too. When courting a female, the male will often bring gifts of butterflies or other delectable insects

St. Joseph's, Devine Street, Columbia, SC
Most of the shots I posted this weekend looked skyward, or at least featured the sky. It's been so beautiful with fluffy clouds and October blue. But I also shot a few toward the ground. These tiny tiny things were scattered among black-eyed susans and echinacea that skirted St. Joseph's on Devine Street.
One of my favourite shots of this past fall migration, and also I'm surprised that I glossed over this image! I managed to snap this Black Throated Green Warbler enjoying some bugs while bouncing branch to branch one Saturday morning. One of the best Warbler shooting days I've had yet!
If you look really closely at the back feathers you can actually spot some "green" between the grey.

One of my attempts at the "Smile on Saturday" theme "La vie en rose".
Also a little testshot for the Macro Mondays theme "My Closest" where the goal is to get as close as possible... This isn't that of course (the little pearl has a length of around 10 mm, so this is probably a 3.5:1 magnification) but way over the limit for this lens. It might not look very impressive, but I find it quite remarkable what it is able to do because I'd consider this way out of its optimum range. I have to admit I don‘t know these things too well… so if I‘m wrong on that, please correct me!

El Gölü also known as Shah Gölü is the name of a large historic park containing an artificial lake in south east of Tabriz, Iran. Shah Gulu's artificial lake is a rectangular lake surrounded by four side walks and a stripe of flowers in its four sides. In the middle of lake a building representing the traditional architecture of Tabriz is located. The building in the center of the lake is connected to the northern side walk of the lake. In South of the lake there is a hill covered by trees.
Little Moreton Hall, also known as Old Moreton Hall, is a moated half-timbered manor house 4.5 miles (7.2 km) southwest of Congleton in Cheshire, England. The earliest parts of the house were built for the prosperous Cheshire landowner William Moreton in about 1504–08, and the remainder was constructed in stages by successive generations of the family until about 1610. The building is highly irregular, with three asymmetrical ranges forming a small, rectangular cobbled courtyard. A National Trust guidebook describes Little Moreton Hall as being "lifted straight from a fairy story, a gingerbread house". The house's top-heavy appearance, "like a stranded Noah's Ark", is due to the Long Gallery that runs the length of the south range's upper floor.
