Dangerous coastlines.
Lighthouses are already mentioned in ancient times. At that time burning fires were used on heights and cliffs by the sea or possibly, at the harbor of some great sea city, open fires on the roof of a flat tower.

Closed, iced
Never feel safe
I'm tongue , tied
Never let out my rage
Try to breaking this cage
But where would I go?
I'm stuck , living a life of bad luck giving me nothing
Doors shut, alone in my head
I'm out of control
Am I losing my sanity?
I'm over my head
I'm in a dark dream
I'm a prisoner
Here there never let me leave
Losing grip of me already
I'm over the edge
I yell and i scream
I'm a prisoner
Here come get me , set me free
Hurt me , do what you want
I'm thirsty , feeding me bones
Hunger is all that I know
I'm starving for air
** Thank you so much to **

" It's hard letting go,
I'm finally at peace, but it feels wrong,
Slow I'm getting up,
My hands and feet are weaker than before.
And you are folded on the bed
Where I rest my head,
There's nothing I can see,
Darkness becomes me.
But I'm already there,
I'm already there,
Wherever there is you,
I will be there too
There's nothing that I'd take back,
But it's hard to say there's nothing I regret.
Cause when I sing, you shout,
I breathe out loud,
You bleed, we crawl like animals,
But when it's over, I'm still awake
A thousand silhouettes dancing on my chest,
No matter where I sleep, you are haunting me
But I'm already there,
I'm already there.... "

The Aulne monastery (Abbaye d'Aulne) was once a Benedictine and then a Cistercian monastery - and now it is mostly in ruins. It was founded already in 637 and came under Cistercian rule in 1147. The monastery had many ups and downs, with its last golden era in the 18th century. But the monastery was sacked by French revolutionaries in 1794 and turned to ruins.

Like so much of the flora this year, the hot dry weather has advanced nature. Roses, like this one already fading.

Late in the game again with a photo that is a pure act of desperation. Really. I didn't want to skip "High Key", because it is pretty much out of my comfort zone so I wanted to meet this challenge. But I wasn't sure what to photograph. At the end (which means today) a tiny, shiny miniature crown that once graced a pencil bought at the museum shop of the Deutsches Historisches Museum (I've already used this crown in another photo which you can find in the first comment) and another watch (a Casio which you might have already guessed) came to the rescue. But does this image make any sense? I don't think so. Except maybe for the fact that a tiny crown is reflected in the glass of a digital watch that doesn't have a crown, only pushers. Oh dear ;)
OK, so let's skip my unsuccessful attempt at trying to make sense of an image that doesn't make any sense and get to the technicalities: The glass of this watch is double-coated (on the outside and on the inside). Seen at the right angle (light from above aka sunshine works best) it lets the dial shimmer in lovely pastel rainbow colours. But the glass also works as a mirror. So I simply placed the crown in front of it, illuminated the glass with a single LED light so the rainbow colour coating would work its irresistible iridescent magic on the crown's reflection, and took a single handheld shot. Which had to do, because I was running out of time. The bokeh in the lower right corner is the golden crown itself. Processed in DXO PL6, Color Efex, and Viveza.
HMM, Everyone, and have a nice week ahead!

The day I fancied pulling in this ancient monument it was totally clouded over and a car and a minibus or campervan were already parked in the small layby. It was so dull that we drove a little further and turned back the way we came. Both vehicles were just pulling out so we parked up and nipped over the style for a quick look but the lighting was as flat as a pancake and we went back to the car. When crossing a style I have a tendency to descend backwards so saw this partial rainbow and in those few moments the clouds had bunched up and there was a bit of blue ( just enough to make a sailor a collar ) as my mother used to say :)
I couldn't believe it honestly and don't think I ever moved faster pulling a camera from its hiding place I practically flew back over that style. Now if you knew me at all you would know that is NOT how I usually move lol..
Hand held and I suppose not particularly special but that rainbow only came out for me at this particular time I'm sure.. Later the same day I got more rainbows and also soaked to the skin but I was as excited as a child with this very short lived partial rainbow in this special place.....
You can see the structure from the road if you stand on the roof of your car and peer over the hedgerows, but it’s well worth the two-minute walk to experience it firsthand. In the field, a large flat stone, or quoit weighing around 12 tons, rest on top of three upright stones. The dolmen was constructed around 2500 BC as part of a barrow, or chambered tomb, the remains of which are barely visible in the surrounding landscape today. Lanyon means “cold pool” in the native Cornish language. The site is also known as “The Giant’s Table,” for obvious reasons, and has been mentioned in Arthurian legends.
Originally, the dolmen was much higher, perhaps tall enough to accommodate a horse and rider beneath it. However, after a storm in 1815, the ancient structure collapsed. In the course of the 1824 reconstruction by locals, one of the supports broke. With only three uprights remaining, the quoit was lowered about five feet and rotated ninety degrees from its original orientation. Today it’s barely five feet from ground to ceiling.
The surrounding moors are windy and beautiful in themselves, and the spot is perfect for a respite on the drive from St Ives to Penzance.

Not the best picture of this hard working great spotted woodpecker / Buntspecht (Dendrocopos major, Syn.: Picoides major)
but I'm happy with it as it is a rarely seen visitor in our garden - Frankfurt-Nordend
After a pretty exhausting day in the South of Iceland with visits to Seljallandsfoss, Skógafoss and Solheimajökull, we actually wanted to stretch our feet and enjoy the evening in our camper van at the campsite in Vík. On our way, however, we passed the parking lot that is the starting point for the hike to the famous plane wreck at Solheimasandur. Knowing we still had approximately 45 minutes to hike, we looked at the clock and realized we might make it in time for sunset, so we gave it a try.
We grabbed our heavy camera bags and began a hike through seeming nothingness, only passing a small plant here and there growing amidst the black gravel. Some people were already returning to the parking lot and we we through: How can you leave just before sunset? Anyway, we were glad because this meant fewer people will walk into our composition or climb on the plane, which some of the remaining tourists actually did when we finally arrived.
To our surprise, there were very few people left and we still had a couple of minutes left to find some compositions before the sun set. Due to the lack of clouds in the sky, it was clear that the most promising opportunity to improve the image would be a sunstar, so I tried several positionings with this one being my favourite. Even more exhausted, we then walked all the way back and were very happy when we finally arrived at the campsite in Vik pretty late, which was also the reason why we didn’t make it for sunrise at Reynisfjara the next day, but I guess you can’t have it all. Hope you like it! :)
Great to see this youngster at my local gravel pit. I hope it makes it to join the post-breeding Lapwing that have already arrived.

Autumn Mists - Times Of Uncertainty by Daniel Arrhakis (2021)
With the music : Wordclock - It May Come by Cryo Chamber
__________________________________________________
Meanwhile in Asghardia at the top of a staircase in a richly ornamented stonework a figure with a long embroidered mantle looked at the landscape with autumnal tones that vanished through a dispersed fog.
His thoughts roamed the horizon through the mists of uncertainty that surround his beloved Kingdom Of Krudhyn.
Old rumors and old superstitions increased in a thick cloak of uncertainty and conspiracies among the Old Orders, there had always been rivalries but never as much as now.
The choice of the Guardian Master Of The Black Order for Cardinal of the Kingdom was not a consensual decision within Aghort, the general council of the orders, but the influence that the Cardinal exercised as the former Khanton (*) of the kingdom had weight with King Ehomyhr, although defended the independence of the state in relation to those of the old orders.
It was this recent condescension that intrigued her even more - Her husband had always defended the separation of powers! -She thought aloud while watching the autumn tones that painted the landscape around the Old Winter Palace.
Not far away, on a parapet with a privileged view, there was a curious black crow that seemed to observe all the movements that the Queen Elyandhyn made.
She had already seen him, but pretended that she hadn't noticed, since she was a child, she had no sympathy for those animals with piercing eyes and black feathers with metallic blue reflections. But what was strange is that lately it was not the first time that she had seen crows in the old palace although they were rare - I have new secret admirers, she thought as she smiled.
(*) Khanton is the equivalent of King's Counselor in other monarchies.

I was surprised to see this common starling at Lake Meyer Park today. I can usually count the number of times I see a starling in the park on one hand during any given year. Although many people consider the common/European starling a nuisance, and I guess they can be in certain settings, I think they are a beautiful bird. This colorful starling is close to being in full breeding plumage already.

Yellow Admiral (Vanessa itea)
This one let me take a numbers of shots last Sunday but then decided enough was enough, the wings came up briefly and it was off.
A small group of us, led by Andy Cook, valiantly set off on the hike to Red Rock Falls. And then the rain began. And then got harder. And then the hail fell. Taking cover under a sparse tree I was soon find out that my new Shimoda backpack was up to the task. I couldn’t get to the rain cover without exposing the contents to drenching rain. Didn’t need to. Everything on the inside was dry. Had we not already made it relatively close to the falls I confirmed with Andy later that we would have turned back. But fortunately, on we went. It continued to rain, and hail a bit, but slacked off to a tolerable degree. Climbing around the rocks near the head of the falls wasn’t dangerous per se but to this sea level guy, still a bit nerve racking. But the views!!!! My microfiber cloth was already drenched and I didn’t know if the images would be ruined by rain drops on the lens, but everything turned out fine. This is my favorite image of the trip, enhanced greatly by the experience of getting it. It’s an HDR composite of 36 imaged taken from the top to the bottom of the falls in segments and then put together in Lightroom. (Thank you Adobe) (Sony a1, 16-35mm lens at 16mm, f/16, ISO 125 (which I’m sure I thought was on 100 at the time) and shutter speeds from 1/320 second to 1/5 of a second.)
The weather was just wonderful for Christmas Day here in the Driftless region, and I should have worn ice skates when I went ice fishing on the Mississippi River today. Normally there would be several inches of snow sitting on the ice already by Christmas, but I'm not complaining. The upper Mississippi River is a fantastic fish factory and I had a fabulous day of fishing for largemouth bass, bluegills, yellow perch and black crappies. This gorgeous black crappie went right back to join all of its live companions under the ice.
Well, I knew the aliens had arrived, but I didn’t realize they were crossing already. In fact, a little gray alien in a yellow rain slicker is at this crossing twice a day, morning and evening. He has a sign to stop traffic from getting into the landing site. The sign says “watch out for metal that you haven’t even discovered yet falling from the sky.“ under that it says, “Violators will be experimented on!”
Surprisingly, no one has gone beyond this point.
You can occasionally see little gray aliens climbing all over their flying saucer and speaking gibberish to each other. To think people believe they could conquer us. We could just get together a group of people with size 12 and larger shoes to step on them if they cause any trouble.
