The Vanil Noir erects from the earth like a petrified wave of an ancient time. The cross at the very top (2'389 meters) is aimed at protecting humans that endeavour in such a steep wilderness. From this point of view we are looking at the south east face. The north west face is even steeper.
The end of the foreground ridge is the "Tour de Doréna", and the peak in the background is the "Dent des Bimis".
Looking carefully we can see the alpine trail starting at the left bottom side of the image and then following the ridge. The last hundred meters before arriving at the cross almost makes you dizzy but the view from there is awe inspiring. Form the summit the trail continues to the north but it is not visible in the image.

Trees grow slowly at an altitude of about 5000 ft. This one was quite older than me (maybe one year or another! 😁).
Bye the way: The waterfalls in the middle of the photo are quite special - they are fountains!

Looking down on the Alpine Loop Trail by the Savage River in Denali National Park. The big thing looming in the clouds, center image, is Denali.
On this Alpine trail, the waterfall plunges with great force of nature. though out the hike the waterfall takes different shapes and forms.
Got on the trail early enough to catch the sun coming up over the mountains. The wild flowers were just blooming because of a late spring.

These vibrant purple Penstemon flowers were photographed along a rocky trail just outside Lake City, Colorado. Likely a variety of Rocky Mountain beardtongue (Penstemon strictus), these native blooms are a common sight in the high-altitude terrain of the San Juans. Captured with the Nikon D3400, the image highlights their resilient beauty growing amid dry soil and stone.
Evening in the Italian Alps, where the last sunlight touches the snowy peaks above Cervinia. The trail winds down through quiet mountain villages, each one nestled among green slopes and flowering meadows. With every step, fatigue grows—but so does the beauty. A peaceful end to a long and rewarding day.
One of the untamed waterfalls spotted on the scenic trail leading to the glacier lake below the iconic Matterhorn.

A summer hike across the alpine meadows, heading toward the snow-covered peaks. A moment of solitude and power. Step by step toward the mountains — a route I created with the help of ChatGPT. I share the full planning process on my Instagram profile: instagram.com/michael__journey__

A quiet moment in the high mountains — where a thin stream of meltwater trickles down a dark rock face, shimmering in the sunlight. A hidden micro-waterfall, born from snow under a summer sun.
