www.laperleduverdon.fr Ce merveilleux lac d'Esparron d'aspect si sauvage et naturel est une retenue artificielle qui a vu le jour en 1967 à la suite de la construction du barrage de Gréoux sur le cours du Verdon, faisant ainsi monter le niveau de la rivière jusqu'à 15 kms en amont du lac jusqu'à Quinson.

Son eau participe à l'alimentation du Canal de Provence.

Il fait partie du Parc Naturel régional du Verdon.

Il bénéficie du label de qualité environnemental Natura 2000, réseau de sites naturels remarquables pour la protection des espèces.

Il est régie et réglementé par la loi Montagne qui le protège de toute construction sur ses rives.

Sur les traces du passé du lac se dévoilent à vos yeux des trésors ensevelis: Le Bord du Verdon initial, Le Moulin du sanglier, Le Pont coupé.

This is the view from near Courmayeur of the Mont Blanc Massif in all its glory. I've had to trim it down a bit as it was to long! But you can still nearly see all the way from the Swiss side to the French side. This is made up of about 8 stiched wide angle shots, before I shrunk it the file was weighing in at about 30 megs of jpeg from my old trusty 400d! I find the grassy slope on the left a bit distracting but I wanted to show the bottom of the valley at the right of the shot to bring in the scale.

It's definately best viewed large.
