One of my trip’s highlights was today.
The daughter of my cousin (who bakes professionally to order) organised a multi birthday celebration primarily for her daughters but including members of the extended family. I was invited and she baked 5 different cakes. All five recipients of her largesse were born in June.
When she visited London a while back, I mentioned that one of my faved cakes is not even known in the U.K. I am referring to “Flodni” a very Hungarian speciality. The filling is a layered combination of plum jam, walnut, poppy seed and apple. As illustrated, she baked me one. It was yummy and I even brought some home for tomorrow.
