Ce mausolée a été construit par le maître Alim Nesefi (Alim Nassafi, Alim Nasafi, Ali from Nasaf) en 1385
La décoration utilise des majoliques peintes et ciselées qui ont remplacé la terre cuite.

Shah-i-Zinda est la nécropole du "Roi vivant", en raison de l'existence d'une légende liée à la mort de Qassim-ibn-Abbas, protecteur de Samarcande et Saint islamique.
Shah-i-Zinda est accessible par un escalier datant du XVIIIème siècle qui a remplacé un chemin, l'ensemble est composé de mosquées et de mausolées construits sur la colline d'Afrosyab (le lieu de l'antique Samarcande).
Le mausolée du cousin du Prophête : Qassim-ibn-Abbas, a été construit le premier à cet endroit au XIème siècle, puis réaménagé au XIVème siècle, car c'était devenu le principal lieu saint de la ville. Ce missionnaire musulman était arrivé en Sogdiane en 676 au moment de la conquête arabe.
De nombreuses tombes ont été construites à proximité de celle du Saint dans les siècles qui ont suivi, donnant naissance à cet ensemble majeur du patrimoine islamique de Samarcande.

1. my name is ishika alim what used to be ishika binte alim previously. 'Binte' part got somehow missing when my uncle renewed my passport (may b this is what happens when ppl dont do their work by themselves:)...'chowa'' happened to be the name i was called by my near and dear ones but that too got lost somehow.
2. ishika means sacred pen or painting brush or the eye of an elephant. may b my parents named me ishika because of the eye thingy.(i have really big eyes)
3. i was born accidentally when i was only seven months. maybe that's why my maturity still haven't developed to the desired level.:P
4. i am studying architecture in BRAC university. its fun..:) (painful at the same time)
5. i love jumping and i talk a loooott:)
6. i like sitting on tree brunches and singing at the top of my voice ( to normal people what is actually shouting)
7. i used to take singing classes when i was a kid. but then i quit thinking that its time to do some social service :P

Ang Álim ang isa sa dalawang epikong-bayan ng mga Ifugaw. Isa itong epikong panrelihiyon na inaawit kapag may namatay o kapag mayroong may sakit sa pamilya. Inaawit din ang Alim kapag inilalagay ang hagabi o ang bul-ul sa tahanan ng mga Ifugaw. Kasabay ng pag-awit ng Alim ay ang pagdaraos ng kanyaw.
Nagsisimula ang epikong-bayan sa panahong masagana ang pamumuhay ng mga tao. Nakakukuha ng pagkain ang mga tao kailanman nilá ito naisin at naibibigay ng kalikásan ang kanilang nais. Ngunit dahil sa pagmamalabis ng tao, nagalit ang mga diyos. Nagkaroon ng malaking bahâ at namatay ang lahat ng tao, maliban kay Bugan na umakyat sa Bundok Kalawitan. Nang humupa ang bahâ, inakala ni Bugan na siyá na lámang ang natirang tao. Sa kaniyang paghahanap ng makakain, kaniyang natagpuan na buháy rin ang kaniyang kapatid na si Wigan. Magkasáma siláng naghanap ng makakain. Tumira silá sa tabi ng ilog upang mas madalî siláng makakuha ng pagkain. Ilang araw ang lumipas, nalaman ni Wigan na nagdadalangtao siyá. Nagpunta si Bugan sa tabing-ilog upang magpakamatay dahil sa kahihiyan na nabuntis niyá ang kapatid. Ngunit, nagpakita ang diyos na si Makanungan upang pigilin siyá. Ikinasal ni Makanungan ang dalawa at nagkaroon ng siyam na anak. Nagkaroon ng taggutom sa kanilang lugar. Nag-alay ang mag-asawa ng dagâ upang matigil ang kahirapan ngunit hindi pa rin nawala ang taggutom. Ipinasiya ng mag-asawa na ialay ang kanilang bunsong anak na si Igon. Hindi natuwa si Makanungan sa ginawa ng mag-asawa. Bilang parusa, kaniyang ipinaghiwalay ang mga tao sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng kalupaan at isinumpang mag-aaway silá sa tuwing magkakatagpo. CN: [Malay and regional vernacular names - Gaharu, Karas, Depu, Depu kapas, Kelembak, Halim, Alim, Kareh, Kekaras, Kepang, Mengkaras, Tabak, Tangkaras, Tengkaras, Tuikaras, Sigsigi, Calambac, Ching karas, Galoop, Laroo], Agarwood, Aloeswood, Eaglewood, Indian aloewood, Lign-aloes, Malayan eaglewoodtree, Agallochum, Agalocha, Oudh, Agila wood. Distribution - Indian Subcontinent (Bhutan, India - Assam, West Bengal), Indo-China (Myanmar, Thailand), Malesia (Indonesia - Kalimantan, Sumatra; Malaysia; Philippines; Singapore, Brunei); elsewhere cultivated. Tree up to ca 36 m tall. Leaf simple, alternate; inflorescence terminal, 5-petaled flower; fruit capsule splitting into two parts. Habitat - lowland and hill forest up to ca 750 m. A. malaccensis is the major source of agarwood, a resinous heartwood, used for perfume and incense. The resin is produced by the tree in response to infection by a parasitic ascomycetous mould, Phaeoacremonium parasitica, a dematiaceous (dark-walled) fungus. Cultivated trees are deliberately injured and inoculated with the fungal inoculum to induce the formation of resin to isolate the invading pathogen. Traditionally used by Malays for preparation post-natal tonic, resin extract for treating swellings and tumor. Plant classified vulnerable and regulated by CITES due to the depletion of wild trees from indiscriminate cutting for agarwood. Its distribution pattern is likely to have reduced significantly.
