...are alike. Well, maybe they are but you often have different densities and clear areas that allow or disallow you to take a 'different' shot. If it weren't for the variables, we might not come back to a composition.

Thanks for having a look!

Great Egret and chick.

Male and female Carolina Wrens look alike; both are reddish-brown above and warm buffy-orange below, with a long, slightly downcurved bill, a bold white eyebrow stripe, a rusty cheek, white throat, and a relatively long tail.

Carolina Wrens are common in Houston and the eastern part of Texas. They can be found in dense forest undergrowth, especially in shrubby tangles and thickets. They usually forage in pairs, creeping around vegetated areas and scooting up and down tree trunks in search of insects, spiders, and fruit. They will visit bird feeders for seed, peanuts, and suet. Even rusted and left to rot, these old cars had a presence, unlike so many vehicles today. For the most part today's vehicles look a lot alike. Seen in Dugald, Manitoba in March.

RECIPE FOR MAKING THE COLOUR BLUE

If you wish to make the colour blue

take a piece of sky and put it in a pot

large enough to place on the flame of the horizon.

Stir into the blue a pinch of early morning red

until it dissolves. Pour everything

into a brass bowl that has been well washed

to eliminate all of the afternoon’s impurities.

Finally, sift in a few smidgens of gold from the sand

of midday until the colour adheres to the bottom of the bowl.

To prevent the colours from separating with time,

drop a charred peach pit into the liquid.

It will disintegrate, leaving no telltale

sign, not even – from the black ash – an ochre trace

on the golden surface. You may then raise the colour

to eye level and compare it with genuine blue.

The two colours will look so alike

that you cannot distinguish one from the other.

This was how I did it – I, Abraham ben Judah Ibn Haim,

illuminator from the town of Loulé. And I left the recipe

for whoever, one day, would imitate the sky.

‘Fundacion Antonia Guerrero' (Antonia Guerrero Foundation) is by Joaquín Fabian Aguilera Diaz and was inaugurated in October 2013. It is a tribute to Antonia Guerrero and in recognition of her work to improve the education of women in Estepona. It is created in paint and relief and it depicts a girl going up the stairs of Los Remedios church. The doves which can be seen at the topic the mural represent the liberation and freedom for women.

"La Ruta de Murales Artísticos de Estepona" (Estepona’s Route of Artistic Murals) is an incentive implemented by the local council and the mayor, Jose Maria Garcia Urbano that was started in September 2012. The route is just one part of a local rejuvenation project.

The objective was to improve and enliven some of Estepona’s forgotten or neglected neighbourhoods and it was hoped that the series of murals that are spread across the town would put Estepona on the tourist map and make it a cultural destination. It was clearly a successful initiative and looking at the wide variety of murals it is clear to see why tourists and residents alike are eager to follow the route and view each of the murals (information by Marianne Hill).

From the vantage of Chicken Point looking south, the non-motorized Little Horse Trail wends its way through the Coconino National Forest along the edge of the Munds Mountain Wilderness, seen here. Although the red rock is spectacular, and the blue green of the pinion pines and junipers contrasts nicely, I felt that the textures of the forest, geology and the heavy clouds made a more compelling image.

“If he slept, he dreamt of the woman with the icy white irises. She exploded planes, swallowed oceans and crumpled skies

in her palm in his dreams. Sometimes she and the green-eyed girl were one. At other times, the green-eyed girl was alone, a gaping hole where her heart should have been. At all times he could hear the woman’s cold, low laughter. It swept across his consciousness like a hailstorm.

When he woke up, he thought he was going mad.”

Green Cucumber Spider and Green Abdomen-marked Spider look so much alike that you can't tell which is which without dissection. For that you have to kill them, of course. Folklore has it that such will bring on bad luck and rain as well. But that wasn't my reason for desisting. I just don't see the point of killing a spider or insect - or for that matter anything - only in order to discover its precise name...

Rivers, streams, flowers and trees enjoy “The Joys of Rain”. Life is enhanced and the earth’s needs are quenched by the sound of a good soaking rain. Plants and animals alike delight in the satisfaction of a decent downpour for obvious reasons . Thanks for viewing and for your comments. Gratitude and Kindness, like the rain, have surrounded the roses.

Towering above the desert in the middle of New Zealand's north island, breathtaking Mount Ruapehu is an active volcano and highest peak with unimpeded, awe inspiring views reaching all the way to the coast. The remarkable alpine terrain is capped off by its own crater lake, warmed by volcanic activity, steaming at the summit. Mount Ruapehu is enjoyed year round by hikers, skiers, snowboarders, botanists, geologists and nature lovers alike.

As a live volcano, there will always be some risk of both eruptions and lahar flow on Mount Ruapehu. To mitigate that risk for outdoor enthusiasts, precautionary measures including sophisticated early warning systems are in place. The last major eruption was in 1996 and the last lahar was in March 2007.

As I was rummaging through the giftshop in the nearby visitor centre, I happened to open a book with B&W

apocalyptic picture of this hotel with a giant eruption cloud right behind it! How is this place still standing and smiling as it never happened? A little moment that made me realise how resilient the New Zealanders must be!

The Garden sits nestled in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon overlooking the city and providing a tranquil, urban oasis for locals and travelers alike. Designed in 1963, it encompasses 12 acres with eight separate garden styles, and includes an authentic Japanese Tea House, meandering streams, intimate walkways, and a spectacular view of Mt. Hood. This is a place to discard worldly thoughts and concerns and see oneself as a small but integral part of the universe.

Born out of a hope that the experience of peace can contribute to a long lasting peace. Born out of a belief in the power of cultural exchange. Born out of a belief in the excellence of craft, evidence in the Garden itself and the activities that come from it. Born out of a realization that all of these things are made more real and possible if we honor our connection to nature.

I was going to try bubbles today but it's not that cold enough out to produce frost on the inside of the bubble. So I saw snowflakes on the wood holding the tarp covering our firewood down and decided to grab a shot with my iPhone and the macro filter.

Lancaster Priory's historic clock has marked time for locals and visitors alike since 1886. The tower, built in 1759, is one of the finest church towers in the country. On the hill above the city of Lancaster, the tower is an iconic sight visible for miles around.

Lancaster Priory, formally the Priory Church of St Mary, is the Church of England parish church of the city of Lancaster. A Roman fort existed on the site from the 1st century, and some form of church may possibly have been established around the year 200. It is believed that a monastery had been established here prior to the Norman conquest of England.

Scorpion Fly(Panorpa communis) - Anubis alike head fly Обикновена муха-скорпионница

The osprey looks like a smaller version of the eagle. The bottoms of the feet are covered with spiked scales, which help the bird to grip and hold slippery fish.

The tail is white with alternating bands of white and dark brown. The head is white except for a brown stripe from the eye to the back of the head. Females are slightly larger than males and have darker streaking and a ring of brown spots around the neck. Osprey can be distinguished in flight by the characteristic downward bend or crook in their long narrow wings.

Ospreys are quite common in many parts of Florida – 1,500 to 2,000 pairs were thought to nest in the state in 1983, but their numbers have not been well documented in recent years. When you see an osprey in Florida it may be either a nesting year-around resident, or a bird migrating through the state from northern breeding sites.

Ospreys are usually found near water, primarily large lakes, slow-moving rivers, and coastal areas where trees or man-made structures provide perches or nesting sites. Ospreys feed mainly in mid-morning and late afternoon, hunting either from high perches or by soaring high above the water. When they spot a fish they hover briefly or dive straight into the water - head down, legs, toes and talons extended on either side of the head. During the dive they sometimes completely disappear under the water. Ospreys usually hold fish with both feet. If you watch closely, when they take off after a dive with a fish in their talons, you will often see them move their feet around and change their grip on the fish. They move the fish so that its head is pointing forwards, which reduces the drag.

In south Florida ospreys begin nesting in late November; further north, on Sanibel Island, they start nesting in January, and pairs in north Florida are nesting by late February. The large bulky nest consists of a huge pile of interwoven pile of sticks, lined with soft material such as moss or grass. The nest looks like a bald eagle nest but is smaller.

Osprey usually nest in the tops of tall trees, but in Florida Bay and the offshore islands nests are in low mangroves or even on the ground. Osprey often nest on radio towers, light towers at ball fields and man-made nest platforms. As the number of suitable tall nest trees dwindles, these birds regularly nest on utility poles and many Florida electrical companies have programs to accommodate ospreys.

I found this one along the shore of Kissimmee River in Polk County, Florida.

Rainbow Lorikeet

Scientific Name: Trichoglossus haematodus

Description: The Rainbow Lorikeet is unmistakable with its bright red beak and colourful plumage. Both sexes look alike, with a blue (mauve) head and belly, green wings, tail and back, and an orange/yellow breast. They are often seen in loud and fast-moving flocks, or in communal roosts at dusk.

Similar species: Rainbow Lorikeets are such colourful parrots that it is hard to mistake them for other species. The related Scaly-breasted Lorikeet is similar in size and shape, but can be distinguished by its all-green head and body.

Distribution: The Rainbow Lorikeet occurs in coastal regions across northern and eastern Australia, with a local population in Perth (Western Australia), initiated from aviary releases.

Habitat: The Rainbow Lorikeet is found in a wide range of treed habitats including rainforest and woodlands, as well as in well-treed urban areas.

Seasonal movements: Largely sedentary with some nomadic movements in response to seasonal flowering or fruiting of plants.

Feeding: The Rainbow Lorikeet mostly forages on the flowers of shrubs or trees to harvest nectar and pollen, but also eats fruits (go ape over mangoes), seeds and some insects.

Breeding: The eggs of the Rainbow Lorikeet are laid on chewed, decayed wood, usually in a hollow limb of a eucalypt tree. Both sexes prepare the nest cavity and feed the young, but only the female incubates the eggs.

Minimum Size: 28cm

Maximum Size: 32cm

Average size: 30cm

Average weight: 133g

Breeding season: June to January

Clutch Size: 2

Incubation: 23 days

Nestling Period: 45 days
