This juvenile White-tailed Deer was about to stomp its foot as an alert signal, after it spotted me taking pictures of it. Surprisingly, this deer was more concerned about my presence than its mother, which was feeding contentedly nearby. Photo was taken in Kanata, Ontario in 2015.

This Great blue heron was 'fishing' close to the bank of Galloway Creek where it becomes Lake Springfield in the Nature Center. It didn't seem to mind the big lens on the trail ~25 yards/meters away. Sometimes breakfast is more important than the poparazzi.
Bounce flash used here to add in some light but keeping it from being too harsh. Also does not disturb those at rest ;)

A female grizzly in tall sedge grass with pricked ears, smelling the air, alert to the signs of a male bear in the area that could be a danger to her cub, Chilko Lake, BC. It would be inadvisable to approach too closely to a bear displaying this posture (best larger).
It's interesting to watch a cat's whiskers, they are quite expressive and sometimes even seem to have a life of their own. :)
A nervous grizzly cub on high alert clings to its mother's back in a sedge grass meadow, Khutzeymateen estuary, BC. The cub has learned from its mother that male grizzly bears are dangerous (they can kill unrelated cubs) and when the pair are feeding in the open they always are alert for the presence of danger from males in the vicinity.
