They're not gonna let you pass easily. On the way up. You'll notice a statue of the Windcallers. If you touch it you get sent right back to the entrance. You have to defeat all 3 Windcallers to dispel the statue. Once complete make your way up to fight Akravator. He likes to make himself invincible to move to the other side of the map. And fly off screen.
