The building of Akershus Castle and Fortress was commenced in 1299 under king Håkon V. The medieval castle, which was completed in the 1300s, had a strategical location at the very end of the headland, and withstood a number of sieges throughout the ages. King Christian IV (1588-1648) had the castle modernised and converted into a Renaisssance castle and royal residence.

The buildings in the fortress are a wonderful collection of styles.

Medieval Akershus Castle in Oslo, Norway

Shot in September 14.

Found this during a minor clean-up of images.

I have not been in this game so long, but I still feel I have a lot of images stored, (about 10 K). So cleaning up from time to time is desperately needed.

My work-flow during processing, is such that in total I estimate having shot around 20 - 25 K images since I started being more serious about this.

Roughly 1 in 20 have been posted.

What is your Number ??

As we walked towards the church a choir started singing the Hallelujah Chorus' from Handel's Messiah. We didn't enter, just listened a bit and then left.

This part of the fortress I had never been to before.

50 mm was too tight so I had to take 4 shots and compbine them in Lightroom CC
