TF-LLL dates back to 2000 when delivered to Iberia named "Honduras " & has been with many carriers, including Icelandair as TF-IST , Titan & swanky La Compagnie as F-HTAG.

A Japan Airlines airplane toy model for today's Crazy Tuesday theme: "Planes, trains and automobiles". I love the colors of this little airplane model: red, white and blue.

Except for the tires, this model is not made of plastic but of metal.

Final call for Amapola from Carrickfinn.

Gear down for the last time at Dublin, Amapola Flyg Fokker 50 completes its final flight from Carrickfinn, 25th Feb 2022, happy memories that this Swedish airline brought to Ireland using their Fokker 50 fleet on the Dublin-Donegal route between 2021 & 2022.

On the 26th July 2021, Amapola relaunched the Dublin to Donegal ( Carrickfinn ) route which had ceased on the 12th June with the collapse of Stobart Air.

Operating twice daily flights between Donegal @ 0820 & 1640 returning from Dublin @ 1510 & 1820 hrs on weekdays with a reduced weekend service. Carrickfinn Airport has been voted the nicest airport approach for the last 4 years, right on the edge of the north west Ireland.

Plenty of thrust as a Thai Airbus A380 is towed over from remote parking to the main terminal at Frankfurt Airport, Germany.

Thai boasted a fleet of 6 Airbus A380, the online reviews of their first class "Royal First " are legendary, but alas are now stuff of legend as the entire fleet of them was withdrawn with the covid pandemic & unlikely to return.

Window seat please.

The 733 at PAL has since been retired.

The never ending sad news of another airline going bust.

Much described as "going quietly ", Jota Aviation of Biggin Hill, London, England ceased business over the Easter 2022 bank holiday weekend.

Best known for their fleet of BAe 146/ Avro's in both the charter & cargo market, with customers such as BA Cityflyer & Cityjet, problems were signalled in 2021 with Brexit/ EU regulations & the Covid pandemic wiping out charter flights.

BAe146-200 (registration G-SMLA) seen above at Dublin in October 2015, was retired in November 2021.

At the close of business, Jota had 4 x BAe 146's in both passenger & freight configuration along with 1 x RJ85 in passenger layout.

Goodbye Jota & the last commercial operator of the Avro RJ/ BAe 146 in Europe.

Literally!

This was a hard theme for me. As some of you know I am very passionate about toys. It was very hard to figure out what to shoot for this week challenge and narrow down my choices. I end up doing the 2 things I like: a. Shooting woody and trying an unique approach! Did I succeed? You’ll be the judge.

First of all, I DID NOT build this model. I only took the photos.

This highly detailed model is the product of a very skilled craftsman who had been building mostly sailing ship models for over 30 years. These photos are of the model as it is about 85% completed and represent about 2 years of off and on work.

This model is based on a Model Airways 1:16 scale kit. Being the perfectionist that he is, Larry..(the actual builder) rebuilt a large number of the parts of this aircraft, including the rudder, elevator and other control surfaces, the instrument panel and much more. About the only parts from the original kit are the wooden wings and fuselage members. ALL of the control surfaces actually move with action of the control stick or foot controls. The detail of the tiny parts, such as the turnbuckles is amazing.

Using the "Enlarge" option will allow better views of the quality work and fine detail of this historical plane.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 8:50AM, made it out driving by ~9:15 and went out until 2:27PM for a total of 5.25 hours. Spent $60.55 plus ~$10.66 gas for 40.0 miles of driving (14 mpg @ $3.73/G), for a total cost of $71.21. We drove to 24 yard sales, stopping at 15 (62%) of them. We made 44 purchases (69 items) for a total estimated value of $814.81, leading to a profit/savings of $743.60. So in essence, we multiplied our $71.21 investment by 11.44X. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn ~$900 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $789 in cash that we saved. How long does $900 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 5.25 hrs we spent here?) Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $124.26/hr as a couple or $62.13/hr per person.

PAL collection. The only missing aircraft is the Vickers Viscount 700 from herpa's advent calendar. I hope to purchase that soon.

Both the herpa 744 and A343 are from the inflight set. The herpa 733 and the starjets 744 were from model stores in Hong Kong. The two big bird classic 747-200s are special. I ordered them from a model store in the US (quite pricey compared to the other models), and I got them specifically for a diorama of the old Manila International Airport - the one that used to stand at the present-day Centennial.

I downloaded a photo overview of that terminal some years ago, but my computer crashed shortly thereafter. Worse, the site where I got it transferred servers and photos got deleted. :( I was only a toddler when they transferred to NAIA 1, so I have no pics of my own.

So to anyone out there who may have taken pics of the old MIA terminal, would you be so kind as to share it/ them with me? I promise not to publish them or use them for anything other than making my diorama. Please.

Thanks!
