Indeed it is a Tiger Moth doing a flying display especially for the eleven of us on a photo workshop at Old Warden Airfield home of the Shuttleworth Collection . We had a grandstand view to get our shots of the Tiger Moth doing it's thing - in fact we were a good few metres into the airfield on the air-side side of the fence !! I had a good few keeper shots but there were at least as many if not more deletes - the art of panning still eludes me !!

The aircraft was originally T6818 in RAF service and was built by Morris Motors at Cowley, Oxford in 1944. Little is known of its wartime service but after the war it was registered as G-ANKT.

It was acquired by the Collection in 1966 and was rebuilt by two former engineering apprentices at Old Warden, using many components from two other Tiger Moths.

It has been completely overhauled and re-covered and is finished in the colours of the Royal Air Force Central Flying School Aerobatic Team, showing K2585.

I have received my negative scanner and set about the process of scanning 35mm negatives with gusto. I am still at the point of sussing out different software and methods of achieving the best result. Some of my negatives are in a bit of a state sadly, others are not so bad.

This image was one I had totally forgotten I had. In 1997, whilst working in a care home for the intellectually disabled, I took one of the residents to an airshow at White Waltham, near Maidenhead. He was even more fascinated by aeroplanes than I was, so he had a great day. Armed with my 35mm compact camera and precious little idea about photography, I took a few photos over the course of the day.

This one shows a Sopwith triplane, a couple of SE5As and a further plane behind that I cannot recall. I've always loved the early biplanes, which obviously prompted a bit of extra effort taking this image as there are no people in the way and it is from relatively close up.

As I learn more I will either rescan or clean this up and replace it, but here it is for the time being.

These looked like those shots when someone does water hair flip, or when in -30ish you throw boiling water in a curve to make a snow rainbow!
