This image was cropped from the original. I loved the smiley face on the top of one of them. I took this photo, in Battle Creek at the Air Show.
Thanks for views, comments and favs :)
Red-tailed hawk landing on branch. First day out with new Canon EOS R5 and 800mm lens. I found this cooperative model shooting touch and goes. Was quite a sight! Seen near Florence, AZ this afternoon.
The Luchtsingel ("air canal") elevated walkway was constructed to revitalise a rundown part of central Rotterdam, and connect together several areas of the city. It brings a welcome splash of colour to an otherwise grey part of the city and is much-beloved of Instagrammers, for obvious reasons.
A blog of my visit to Rotterdam:
"I would like to be the air that inhabits you for a moment only.
I would like to be that unnoticed and that necessary."
M.Atwood.
It's scenes like this where you wish you had your very best camera for a long exposure. Never mind, your best camera is the one you have at the time to catch the moment. I couldn't help thinking that the little boat out there gave this seascape the appearance of a Salvador Dali painting.
INVITACIÓN AL AIRE
Te invito, sombra, al aire.
Sombra de veinte siglos,
a la verdad del aire,
del aire, aire, aire.
Sombra que nunca sales
de tu cueva, y al mundo
no devolviste el silbo
que al nacer te dio el aire,
del aire, aire, aire.
Sombra sin luz, minera
por las profundidades
de veinte tumbas, veinte
siglos huecos sin aire,
del aire, aire, aire.
¡Sombra, a los picos, sombra,
de la verdad del aire,
del aire, aire, aire!
Rafael Alberti
These two eagles took to the air to continue their ground fight over the fish, a Ling Cod. Eventually the other eagle stole the fish in mid-air.
When the air space isn't used by rockets it is often taken over by planes and drones, but when the sun goes down it is really easy to spot the owners of the air.
Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care ...
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be ...

The atmosphere of Earth, commonly known as air, is the layer of gases retained by Earth's gravity that surrounds the planet and forms its planetary atmosphere. The atmosphere of Earth protects life on Earth by creating pressure allowing for liquid water to exist on the Earth's surface, absorbing ultraviolet solar radiation, warming the surface through heat retention, and reducing temperature extremes between day and night.
By mole fraction, dry air contains 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.04% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapour, on average around 1% at sea level, and 0.4% over the entire atmosphere.
Earth's early atmosphere consisted of gases in the solar nebula, primarily hydrogen. The atmosphere changed significantly over time, affected by many factors such as volcanism, life, and weathering. Recently, human activity has also contributed to atmospheric changes, such as global warming, ozone depletion and acid deposition.

My grandfather, Col. Reginald F.C. Vance, with the airplane he had at his disposal while serving as the military air attache to Siam and Burma from 1946 to 1949. I hope to get a better copy of this with a higher resolution. This will have to do for now.
Unfortunately not pin sharp but I like the position of the Razorbill (Alca torda) presenting its whole body to act as an air brake and back flapping like mad so it did not crash into the cliff.
Taken at Bempton cliffs.
A Chevrolet Belair at the 2025 Cruise Martinborough event. An interesting colour for this car, I thought.
