A wonderful April weekend to everyone. . .

More freezing sleet turning to ice turning to snow. . .and no school! But Arctic temperatures in the Ozarks. . . time for a cup of hot tea and a good book.

....as you usher in the season that awakens my soul,

your awesome beauty compels my spirit

to soar like an leaf caught in an autumn breeze

and my heart to sing like a heavenly choir.

Ah Sunflower, weary of time,

Who countest the steps of the sun;

Seeking after that sweet golden clime

Where the traveller's journey is done.

April 2016

This image was from my trip to LA back in April 2016. I'm still going through my images from my recent trip to the US and the UK. I will post these once I can find time to select my images and properly process them!

Will be catching up with everyone soon enough.

Separated by railings a fair distance away from these storage towers, I spotted them whilst delivering logs to a new customer. Plan to revisit during office hours and see if i can cajole them to let me in — doubt it, but worth a try ;-)

btw, those are just a whisper of clouds, top right...

We woke up this morning to an (almost) ice free lake (a wee bit is left blown into the shore by the steady high winds that have been blowing for the last 24 hours). I'm posting a Spring photo to celebrate - it will be all gone by the end of the day. :)

Usually I prefer leaves against a dark background, or against a blue sky. I'm not sure if this works, with all the riot of colour.

It is our complete self, not just one or other aspect of ourselves, he claimed. The imagination is not an aesthetic faculty. It is not a single or special faculty. It is all the resources of man, all his faculties, his whole history, his whole life, and his whole heritage brought to bear upon the concrete world inside and outside of himself, to form images of the world, and thus to find it, cope with it, shape it, even make it. The task of the imagination is to imagine the real … The religious imagination … tries literally to imagine things with God … The imagination is really the only way we have of handling the world...

... Imagination, if it is in prison and has tried every exit, does not panic or move into apathy but sits down to try to envision another way out. It is always slow to admit that all the facts are in, that all the doors have been tried, and that it is defeated. It is not so much that it has vision as that it is able to wait, to wait for a moment of vision which is not yet there, for a door that is not yet locked. It is not overcome by the absoluteness of the present moment.

Yay fog! Means the summer is coming to an end and the autumn is soon upon us.

Åh church amongst the trees and fog this morning.

Sooner or later springtime arrives in the upper peninsula, most years its just later than about anywhere else in the USA except maybe Alaska:). 2555. 716 and 721 get down to business lifting 5200 tons out of Trout Lake on a warm May 11, 1984. I was pretty disappointed that for some reason the MIC at Soo yard didn't bother turning one of the GP30's and putting it in the lead on this day.
