A long exposure, landscape image of rocks on the shores of Cullen Bay in Morayshire, Scotland, basking in the afternoon sun.
This dark red day lily has a name, but I don't know it. It was harvested from a day lily farm by the widow of the man who cultivated them. But it's beautiful, dark petals and deep golden center pops. It is a "spider lily" variety, known for their long narrow petals.

"Alpenglow (from German: Alpenglühen, lit. 'Alps glow', Italian: enrosadira) is an optical phenomenon that appears as a horizontal reddish glow near the horizon opposite to the Sun when the solar disk is just below the horizon. This effect is easily visible when mountains are illuminated, but can also be seen when clouds are lit through backscatter." Wikipedia

The monastery complex of Meteora, Greece, sits thousands of feet above the ground, making it one of the most remote places to live and worship in the world.
While 30 monasteries were built over the centuries, today only six remain active.
Please press "L" and zoom to appreciate the immensity.

Another perspective … as the Notre Dame lit up with the last rays of the sun after a tumultuous downpour, and many puddles!
I just want to say a huge sorry for not having been on Flickr much lately. Work has been taking far too many hours in the week, and the little time I've had has been spent walking or photographing to clear my head!
Next week brings some time off and I am so looking forward to some catching up.
The first tulip of the Spring to bloom in my garden, lit up with the late afternoon sun. Its brilliance stood out among the white and pale yellow daffodils surrounding it.

For my 100 Flowers - 2020 Project
This Rose caught my eye as we walked back from the sports ground yesterday.
It was an extraordinary sight, the entire field aglow with wildflowers!
Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada
A one I hadn't posted from a while back.
It was a fabulous sunrise and I managed to get numerous shots that morning.
It's a slightly different capture from this Tuesday morning, when I got up at 2am and travelled to St Mary's Lighthouse. The sunrise then didn't materialize and the scene took on a whole different grey picture.
St Mary's Lighthouse is situated on St Mary's ( or Bait ) Island, just North of Whitley Bay in Northeast England.
A tidal island linked to the mainland by a short concrete causeway, which is submerged at high tide.
Built in 1898 by the John Miller Company of Tynemouth.
It was built on the site of a 11th century monastic chapel.
I hope everyone had a glorious & magical Christmas! Stay safe my friends, enjoy the rest of the week =)

For my 100 Flowers Project 2020
This Rose in in a garden along our street and is one of my favourites in our neighbourhood. My 100 Flowers Project just wouldn't be complete without an image of it.
Hydrangea
I liked the way the morning light was catching Kath's Hydrangeas this morning when I went to put their bins away. I have no idea which particular variety of Hydrangea these are, I will ask Kath when they get home next week.
For my 100 Flowers Project - 2020
Another reason I wanted to go for a walk today as I had noticed yesterday this Protea was in flower. I liked how the sunlight was highlighting this particular bloom.
The sun breaks through a portal in the clouds and the rich filtered rays light up the Wingate Sandstone cliffs above the Colorado River. In the foreground pedestals of Organ Rock Shale capped by White Rim Sandstone stand above Gooseberry canyon.
I am off for a week and a half on a backpack on the Utah/ AZ border, so will not be able to comment and fave your photos, but look forward to catching up when I return.
SOOC. Apart from a crop to 10 x 8. Sometimes every editing effort I make doesn't make a blind bit of difference to making it look any better than straight out the camera.
We had sun today, windy but sunny, which is good, considering it was supposed to be torrential rain.
Hope you're all having a great weekend.
