West Somerset Railway.
Williton Station is about a mile east of the village centre. It has two platforms and is the principal intermediate train crossing place on the West Somerset Railway, where most trains will pass one going in the opposite direction. There is a small car park with an entrance to the down (Minehead) platform, where the booking office and waiting rooms can be found in the main building.
Fallow deer are a medium to large sized deer. Fully grown males (bucks) stand at around 0.84 to 0.94m tall at the shoulder and weigh between 46 to 93kg.
Fully grown females (does) are 0.73 to 0.91m at the shoulder and weigh between 35 to 56kg. By comparison, an average adult man in Britain is 1.77m high and weighs 79kg.
Fallow deer have four main variations of coat:
Common – tan/fawn, with white spotting on flanks and white rump patch outlined with black horseshoe shaped border. Coat fades to a general grey colour during the winter
Menil – paler colouration with white spots year-round and a caramel horseshoe shape on rump
Melanistic – black, almost entirely black or chocolate coloured
White – white to pale sandy-coloured turning increasingly white with age (this is a true colour and not albino).
Fallow deer often have a distinctive black inverted horseshoe shape on their rumps, and a black stripe on their tails which are the longest of all British deer.
The Fallow deer is the only species in Britain with palmate antlers. These become full-sized after the deer are three/four years old and can reach up to 0.7m in length. Facially, their head is more elongated than some species with large angular ears.
Does and their young give short barks when alarmed. Bucks groan loudly during the breeding season.
Fallow deer leave large hoof prints (slots), about 6cm long in soft ground. Their feet are more elongated than Roe deer and are heavier, creating deeper prints
Quite simply I find woodland photography the most complicated compositionally… especially then I favour simplicity, order and balance in my landscapes! I spent ages getting this just about as balanced as I could!

The Holy Cross Church in Hattula, Finland, is known for its lime paint frescoes done in late Gothic style. The church was a popular pilgrimage destination during the Middle Ages.
Part of a Bronze Age settlement was uncovered at Must Farm quarry, at Whittlesey, near Peterborough, in Cambridgeshire, England. The site has been described as "Britain's Pompeii" due to its relatively good condition, including the "best-preserved Bronze Age dwellings ever found" there, which all appear to have been abandoned suddenly following a catastrophic fire. Research now suggests that the site was less than one year old at the time of destruction.
Objects recovered include pots still containing food, textiles woven from lime tree bark and other plant fibres, sections of wattle walls, and glass beads. - Wikipedia

A mixture of weather and personal circumstances have kept me off the streets to a large extent recently.
Full time caring leaves little time for anything else.
However I have arranged "cover" for the beginning of next week so ---- off to York for a couple of days.
My mother in law (98) is not that happy about it when I tell her , which is three or four times a day as she forgets after an hour or so. This also creates interesting and sometimes funny moments - - loaf of bread in the washing machine, cups in the fridge, tins of soup in the freezer - - - and I have not yet found where the milk has gone.

I came across this during a survey of some old Barns, just thought this was a brilliant characteristic piece of genius, an old docket hatch.... just loved the rust and old bent nails. the barns are to be taken down and rebuilt with a modern touch ... you just cannot replace this sort of character ...
I Have been crazy busy recently with work.... and still am ... apologies to all for my lack of comments and visits recently ....
I've been working on something new this to try and break out of my photographic doldrums. I'm taking multiple shots of the the same subject, this is one of about 12 shots I took of my daughters faded fence in Christchurch.
Evidence of the 19th century mechanical age is all around inside the Henry Jones Art Hotel. This photo art is constructed by me using multiple exposures. If you enlarge it you can see the detail very clearly. Works like this are designed to be viewed as extremely large prints.

There are all sorts of stuff inside the tent at the Drottningholm. One that caught my eye was this cool tree table, which shows which part of the tree is from what time in history, cool!!!
