After our first event was ironically washed out - the Afloat team and the Bundaberg community rallied to pull together an amazing night of memories and tributes to all those who helped us and continue to help us following the recent natural disasters. Special thanks to the Bundaberg Regional Council for kindly donating the use of the Moncrieff.

An American Herring Gull floats on the water. Only some vestiges of streaky head plumage betray the fact that this bird is not in full breeding plumage. Herring Gulls enter into their most magnificent plumages in March and April. They practically beg to be photographed, and that fresh breeding plumage doesn't last. Seeing an adult Herring Gull in fresh perfect breeding plumage is one of my favorite signs of Spring. Of course, it's best not to think about how the first summer Herring Gulls will look in a few months! (Photographed at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, Barnegat Light, Ocean County, NJ)
Staying afloat.
Life will knock you around. It is ever-present and constant in its meddling. Whether considering the mind or the eyes, sharpness relinquishes control. Try as one might, to keep the brilliance of their exterior, luster will be lost. The mind and the body possess the constitution to continue forth, but they have limits.
