Adult Whooper and Cygnets on the wing along the river Coquet.

A Northern Plains Red Fox (Vulpes fulva) pup sits at the edge of its den awaiting the return of one of the adults with some food for it and its siblings. The den was located in a pasture on the edge of the boreal woods north of Thorhild, Alberta Canada.

I love this image for the backstory. This one landed on this wee branch as the wind blew and took what seemed like minutes to steady himself. I guess I'm a bit silly for finding so much joy in that LOL

HELP: I'm trying to embed an image into a comment box without the image being public. Is that possible?

Bud, hopefully you can see the EXIF data ;D

Gangly heron with significant variation in plumage. Distinct dark morph is slate-gray with a white throat, while the palest morph is white with a yellow bill and lores. Pale gray intermediate morphs can also be found. Little Egret can look similar, but it has a darker bill than the white morph of the Western Reef-Heron. Primarily a coastal inhabitant, foraging on shorelines and in estuaries, but can also be found at some inland water bodies. (eBird)

---------------

There were four adults at the wetland. Perhaps parents to the young bird posted here?

Ras al-Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, Dubai, UAE. March 2024.

Small, slender oriole. Adult males are a unique rich chestnut-brown color with a black head. Females are dull yellow-green with white wingbars. Immature males are similar to females, but with a black throat and mask. Breeds in open woodlands, river edges, pastures with scattered trees, and brushy orchards. Visits feeders with nectar and fruits. Departs breeding grounds early and heads to wintering grounds in Mexico and Central America, where it can be found in any open or wooded habitat. Compare with female Hooded Oriole, which is larger and longer-tailed and has a narrower, more curved bill. (eBird)

This lovely oriole was feeding on the plants at our B&B in Belize on our first day. A great way to start our Belize birding trip.

This must be one of the most difficult birds to photograph. The contrast between the head and back, and the white/salmon underparts make this especially difficult in bright sunlight. To get the bottle green of the head to show requires a bit of fancy post-processing. Sometimes it's better to photograph them when it's cloudy

The adult male bird was sleeping whilst standing on one leg, and was suddenly awoken by the arrival of one of its juvenile birds!

Two pairs of these amazing leggy birds have successfully been breeding at RSPB Frampton Marsh { Lincolnshire, UK} during 2023 {where this photograph was taken}.

Peace Valley Park, New Britain PA.

A White-crowned Sparrow appeared while I had fun taking shots of rain and aspen leaves.

I enjoyed seeing these birds as fledglings when we lived in Alaska. Now, living in the Lower 48, I can see them as adults.

Slight crop, only. Thanks for looking. Back shortly.

Up to five birds present. Spain; Murcia, Los Alcazares 7/9/21

I recently posted and image of a nymph, which I will put in the first comment box.

Erie Canal Pittsford, NY

Vibrantly bright green parakeet, frequently found in woodland, parks, gardens, where feeds mainly in trees. Nests in cavities, including holes in buildings. Easily overlooked if quiet, as the bright green plumage blends easily with foliage. Note the very long slender tail, bright red bill; male has narrow black-and-rose neck ring. Closely resembles larger Alexandrine Parakeet, which has a wine-red patch on each shoulder. Like other parakeets, raucous and social, often appearing in noisy groups. Native to Africa and South Asia, introduced locally in Europe and Japan. (eBird)

Earth Day Explore #20.

National Chambal Sanctuary, Uttar Pradesh, India. January 2015.

I got this shot of an adult Blue Tit. I like it as I got the bird staying still and perched nicely on the branch.

Had an amazing morning at the beach. The shore was covered in birds migrating. So many it was tough getting an uncluttered shot. I spotted this Adult Peregrine Falcon way out in the distance and waited till it got closer. It did and this shot is uncropped. I check my lens and it was just short of 30 feet away. I got shots of two adults today. I think this is the same one Bob and Judy got the other day and Lynne got a few years back. It is registered in Wildwood, NJ

One of my favorite birds, the Hermit Thrush, is migrating through The Poconos currently.

This one was photographed in the yard yesterday morning, and was just giving its "chuck" call.

In the coming months their ethereal songs will be resonating throughout the forests around my woodland home.
