A Wide Angle View of Snowy Landscape, Teton Mountains and Skies with Clouds. I captured this image with my Nikon D800E a few winters ago while visiting a friend one February weekend. It's in Grand Teton National Park just down the road from Moran along U.S. Route 26. It's what amounted to a roadside pulloff with an open field and a view beyond to the famous Teton mountain peaks. I intended the image to be wide angle, wanting to capture the big open expanse that I saw that day. I wasn't as aware of how that tended to flatten out mountains and such though, but I have learned to address by angling a camera slightly downward. The image I posted is here on Flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/14723335@N05/25744259050).
For the digital sketch itself, I'd finally received my new iPad Pro 12.9"...all I can say is that it is beautiful to touch and work with, especially using it with the Apple Pencil. The pencil feels right in the hand and allows for sideward pressure as if holding a real one. That allowed me to sketch out relief across this wintry landscape and even sketch out the wisps of clouds seen in the skies that afternoon. In general, I followed the same techniques for this sketch that I've learned from painting in using contrasts of hues and tones to bring out detail. With this being a sketch in black & white, I focused on tonal contrasts and pressure sensitivity of the Apple Pencil to bring out that. One thing I did note was the "feel" of grit across the digital sketch and canvas. There were times I even felt the need to want to clean my palms after a time like I'd had to do with pencil and a sketch book a few years ago. Oh, one last thing...and something learned from a painter friend. If the original image or thought you had shows something small or you want to change it, go ahead and change it. It's a painting, not a xerox copy of life! So I made the mountain peaks off in the distance a little bit bigger, but not big enough to take away from the wisps of clouds above.
In the left foreground of the sketch, you'll find that stick figure image of me "hiking" with my Cubbies hat, loving my time exploring Grand Teton National Park...a beautiful wintry wonderland!
More experimenting with the lovely water colour / ink simulation in Adobe Sketch on the iPad. It's really quite nice watching the 'water' spread out and run once you've made marks. Obviously not a replacement for the real thing! ;-) It would be cool if you could tilt the iPad in the direction that you wanted it to run...
Found this one whilst tidying up, I had drawn before Christmas! :-) Adobe Sketch on the iPad, texture added in Procreate.
Blue Skies and Clouds for a Backdrop to Mountains. The original image I took with my Nikon D800E is located here on Flickr (www.flickr.com/photos/14723335@N05/11990798293/in/album-7...). The view is from a trail while hiking to Bertha Falls with Mount Boswell and a few other peaks of the Lewis Range looking to the southeast.
For this sketch, I wanted to try something different and explore the other Adobe drawing type software on my iPad. I'd been working with Adobe Illustrator Draw for well over a year, but I recall using Adobe Sketch when I first started. I had this image I'd taken in Waterton Lakes National Park and decided that would be my "canvas" to try more of a black & white digital painting. That's what this image is about. A sketch as if I sat on a red chair with a view looking across the mountains of Alberta and then into Montana with Glacier National Park.
In the left foreground of the painting, you'll find that stick figure image of me "hiking" with my Cubbies hat, loving my time for another trip in Alberta :-)
I've done a few portraits of Manfred one in an inked style (using Procreate on the iPad) and one in a digital water colour style, (using adobe Sketch)

In a sea full of fish, she is tempted to choose a lover. She is also reluctant to select. She is vulnerable, but owns every part of her body. One must capture the true essence of her nature. Understanding who she is instead of seeing her physicality. Then, reel her into safety. Securing her from the cruelty in the world. Respecting her as a woman and not objectifying her. Being her peace and not her headache. As she uncovers her body, and allows you to drink her from her fountain. You will not only indulge, but even drown in her love.
