HFF!!!
Just so everyone knows, I've turned down the treatment. I'm 74 and live by myself in the country. I just couldn't see doing that to my body when I may not have that much time left anyway. Tomorrow I have a meeting with a surgeon to talk about removing the cancer. I'll probably still have some down time but I'm more comfortable with the possibilities and the outcome.
A morning shot of Corpus Christi and one of there marines. It was such a perfect morning to be out on the water. The day before, the water was so rough the tour boat couldn't even get out of the slip. Happy hump day everyone
HFF!!
Another view of Pease Park. It looks like I still have too much red in it. I took a lot out. That Spanish Moss really makes the trees look pretty. Sadly the moss kills the tree over time.
Happy weekend everyone
I still have this one Christmas bench I figured I better hurry up and post it before January is over..;)
See what I mean about the ISO. It was 12,800 on this shot.
I took this the other day because if the colors. I just got a new printer and I think I made a big mistake. I think it only prints pictures. I hope I'm wrong. I'm still playing with it..:(
Tomorrow, I'm volunteering with the Keep Austin Weird festival. The main festival is Saturday and I will have my camera..;)
What I didn't realize until I was processing the image, is what the artist was saying. "Guns-N-Roses", the rock group. The rose made out of sand is pretty amazing. Hopefully, I can make it back there again next year.
Happy Fence Friday!!
HFF!!
Saw this place on Ranch Road 12 driving over to San Marcos the other day. Don't know what it use to be but the roof lines were kinda cool so I pulled over to take a shot.
Hope you have a great weekend. The photo shoot was fun and it gave me a chance to take people shots. Always helpful
I'm still on the Gurene, Texas series. This is the Gristmill restaurant entertainment area. The restaurant first opened in the early 1900's and severed the local farmers and laborer until it burned to the ground in 1922. The new restaurant opened in 1977 using the remains of the old restaurant's three story brick boiler room. They did a super job on the place. It's one of the coolest restaurants I've ever been in.
Male American Kestrel (Falco sparverius)
I found our Mighty Little Hunter going to town eating and spitting out fur of the Field Mouse it caught at Lake Galena. Peace Valley Park, New Britain PA.
Austin is reworking the walk way that goes down to town lake. This leg of it is finally finished. They added the bridge as well. I wasn't expecting that. I guess that's why it took them so long. And look, they didn't add a bench..:) Ha! I bet ones coming..:) So, anyway, I took my friend from Chicago down there for lunch and to show off the new path. When we got to the lake she said, "You call that a lake."..;-)
This guy was just hanging out along the docks. The way he was looking at me makes me think he's use to getting hand out. I didn't have anything to give him so I just took his picture..;)
Gotta work New Years Day..:( ..lol..The company I work for is looking for help, if you need a job..:)
I just made that up..:) This is a debris pile up after some high water and than someone put the face and eyes on it with rock..;) Than I ran it through Topaz and finished it off.
Happy Thursday everyone
HSS!
I changed this one so many times trying to get it to look like something. I'm not really sure the clouds helped.
Anyway, this is, as you can see, The Russian House. It's on 5th street, which is the old warehouse district in Austin. That area is being revitalized with major hotel chains and condos along with these specialized restaurants. This place is really cool. They had almost 200 infused vodkas. The owner and most of the employees are from Russia and they were even playing Russian MTV, are what it's called there. The food wasn't cheap, dinner plates started at $25. dollars
The first brewery in Texas. Located in La Grange, Texas
Here's more info:
No one should ever underestimate the impact that German immigrants have had on Texas. German settlers were in Texas from the beginning of the Colonial period, but at the end of the Mexican War large numbers of Germans and others immigrated to Texas because of the mild climate and cheap land.

One such German immigrant was Heinrich Kreische. He arrived in Fayette County in 1849 and purchased 172 acres on a bluff overlooking the Colorado River above La Grange. This land included the land where the Dawson/Meir tomb is located. He honored those who gave their life for Texas by maintaining the tomb his whole life.

Mr. Kreische was a master stone mason and over a period time built a three story stone home on the bluff. He was also involved in the construction of many stone structures in Fayette County. I've noticed in my travels that German stone masons have been involved in almost every major stone building in Texas in the 19th century, from the Capitol Building in Austin to the Fort in Fort Davis, Texas.
Heinrich Kreische
In 1860 Mr. Kreische began building one of the first breweries in Texas. He cleverly built it in a ravine below his house that was feed water from a spring that he used in the production of beer. By the middle of the Civil War the brewery was producing beer in a nine step brewing process with an ingenious gravity feed water system. When a new batch of beer was ready a large banner was raised that said "Frisch Auf" (Freshen Up). This was an invitation to the community to come to the bluff and enjoy a picnic, dancing, games and a stein or two or three of "Kreische's Bluff Beer"!
In 1882 Heinrich Kreische, German immigrant, master stone mason, and brew master, was killed in a wagon accident.

HBM!!
Yep, I went to market day again. It's the first Saturday of the month. I figured I better go this month because next month I'll be out of training and won't have Saturdays off. ..lol..Nothing was changed..;) But, when you live in a small town you go with whatever there is for entertainment. From this shot you can pretty much tell what it's like. New stuff, old stuff and hand crafted stuff..lol..Lots of stuff. Plus, they have 2 live bands. Something for everyone..;)

Royal Tern (Thalasseus maximus)
We took the trip to Stone Harbor Point NJ. in hopes of the birds returning for their migration. There was a good variation. Still a little early, but it was a good day of birding. I got this shot while someone else was busy!
