Eigentlich waren wir auf der Suche nach O'Shea's Pub, ein Haus wie dieses, einsam in weiter Landschaft. Bekannt wurde das Haus, was eigentlich nie ein Pub war, durch eine Werbung für Guinness Bier. Über eine schlechte Piste fuhren wir weit hinein in die prärieartige Landschaft auf der Suche nach O'Shea's Pub und kamen am Ende der Piste an dieses einsame Haus, welches sogar noch viel hübscher und einsamer war als das gesuchte. Jackpot. Auf dem Rückweg kamen wir dann an der korrekten Location "O'Shea's Pub" vorbei. Es wurde stümperhaft (kaputt-)renoviert, einige Schrottautos außenherum, sowie ein hoher Zaun, Foto-Verbots-Schilder und ein scharfer Schäferhund. Und tschüss O'Shea's Pub, schade drum. Unser Fund hier an diesem Tag, heute vor 3 Jahren, war ohnehin der schönere 😊.

We were actually looking for O'Shea's Pub—a building just like this one, standing alone in the vast countryside. The place—which was never actually a pub—had become famous thanks to a Guinness beer commercial. We drove a long way along a rough track into the prairie-like landscape in search of O'Shea's Pub and arrived at this solitary house at the end of the road—a spot even prettier and more secluded than the one we’d been looking for. Jackpot. On the way back, we happened to pass the actual "O'Shea's Pub" location. It had been botched by a terrible renovation job; there were junk cars scattered around, a high fence, "no photography" signs, and a fierce German Shepherd. So much for O'Shea's Pub—what a shame. The find we made here on this day—three years ago today—was the nicer one anyway. 😊.
