As an alternative to obtaining my Latitude and Longitude coordinates to answer the question - "Where in the world am I?" - I often use the Maps app on my iPhone. With the satellite option selected, I am presented with a view from above clearly showing the buildings and roads etc.
Having had considerable experience of using aerial photographs and satellite imagery, thankfully, I have no trouble interpreting the vertical incidence view.
After taking a screenshot by simultaneously pressing the Home button and the On/Off button, I imported the image and added the labels for some of the features mentioned in recent postings to Flickr using the Remarks app.
Beijing, China.
Phone 4 - Sceenshot taken with an iPhone 4.
Maps - The image captures the screen display when using this app.
Remarks - Imported the image from the Camera Roll. Added the annotations. Saved the result as a flattened PDF file.
Adobe Acrobat - Opened the PDF file. Captured a portion of the page in raster format to the Clipboard.
XnView - Pasted the contents of the clipboard as a new image. Saved it as a JPG file.
PaintShop Pro X5 - Added a black border 10 pixels wide.

The original digital image was converted to B&W, the processed using the IR filter.
I've already created a couple of different versions of this image. The 'original' image was uploaded May 2010, and a Pencil Sketch, derived from the colour image is also uploaded here..

An online campaign designed for the launch of Adobe Acrobat Family 8. It was launched in over 15 languages in over 20 countries all at the same time, same day - the first in Adobe's history www.the1stmovement.com/work/www_adobeAcrobat/
The word "Macrobat" has been an inside joke among the web team at work, ever since I bungled up the names Macromedia (now Adobe) and Adobe Acrobat while discussing something related to the two. The fact that the two companies merged doesn't help.
As it turns out, anyone away for an extended amount of time from my workplace runs the risk of having their work area "decorated" by the other employees. My number came up when I was away on vacation the last week of August. I came into the office the day after Labour Day to find my cubicle had been given the "Macrobat" treatment, and I proceeded to break down in a fit of laughter.
(For those who don't know, the "M" mark seem above is the Macromedia logo.)
Since Hallowe'en is around the corner, I've decided to keep it all up until then, although I've had to move the bats which were above and in front of my computer monitor.
"A great new world is struggling into existence. But its struggle remains catastrophic until it can produce an adequate knowledge organisation ... An immense, an ever-increasing wealth of knowledge is scattered about the world today, a wealth of knowledge and suggestion that – systematically ordered and generally disseminated – would probably give this giant vision and direction and suffice to solve all the mighty difficulties of our age, but the knowledge is still dispersed, unorganised, impotent in the face of adventurous violence and mass excitement." (H.G. Wells, 1938)

The purpose of this campaign is to announce Adobe’s new online service, Acrobat.com. One of the great things about this service is that it works the same for PC and Mac users, while producing identical results. Often applications claim to produce similar results on the two platforms, but in reality the output and usability are not quite the same. I wanted to promote the cross-platform functionality of Acrobat.com and the Acrobat application as a response to the Mac vs. PC debates that continue to rage. By using acrobat.com, teams can work together, no matter where they are or which platform they use, to create something that can be used and viewed by all. According to the Adobe web site, “Adobe revolutionizes how the world engages with ideas and information.” Playing on the word “engage,” my concept is to show Mac and PC working together -- as a couple, compatible and in sync in every way. There’s no contest or competition between them because either or both can work happily together.

Why Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 ?
If you’re digitizing and archiving all your paper receipts, financial, legal documents, documents or paper; there are a handful of sheet-fed scanners to choose from, including Fujitsu Scansnap S1500.
What makes the Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 so appealing is that it’s not only compact (about the size of a loaf of bread), but also very fast. This 600×600 dpi color scanner is designed to do one main thing and do it well. It scans documents–both color and black-and white–and instantly turns them into searchable PDF files (if you opt to make them searchable).
According to Fujitsu, the Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 can scan at a rate of 20 pages per minute. In our tests, that proved to be accurate as we scanned a 350-page manuscript in about 16 minutes. It’s also able to scan both single-sided and doubled-sided documents.
As with most of these consumer document scanners, setting up the scanner is very simple. You install the ScanSnap software on your Windows or Mac computer, connect the Fujitsu Scansnap S1500 via a USB cable, and you’re ready to start scanning. Slip some documents into the top-loading tray and then press the button on the front of the unit (it’s the only button) and the desktop software automatically launches. You can choose to scan to ScanSnap Manager or another compatible document organizer.
i get this error, in both internet explorer and firefox, whenever a pdf is encountered. everything goes downhill rapidly from that point. what i need is a new operating system, or at least a reload.
it's what i would call a low-level message -- whatever is wrong is so wrong it doesn't matter if you know what exactly is wrong. it's the sort of message they don't really care if you get or nor...it's too late to do anything about it.

At times, a business or organization might need to protect sensitive information or documents that are accessible to multiple people or teams. This is why the creation of secure, password protected PDF forms can be an invaluable tool for any business to have.

A secure PDF form (also known as a lock/unlock fillable PDF form) can keep information safe from any unauthorized personnel. They can also be used to add, remove, or hide Adobe PDF pages while still allowing the document to retain its form. This is done through the addition of security features such as encryption, adding passwords, and digital signatures.
Through the use of advanced PDF forms, businesses can provide multiple users with secure access to vital documents or information. By adding a password to a PDF form, users can be sure that they are the only ones with access to the document. This will help to ensure that all sensitive information is kept safe and secure.
