Tony Tasset’s larger-than-life optic sculpture, Eye, has become one of the most iconic (and rumor-generating) fixtures on Main Street.
The 30-foot-tall fiberglass, resin, and steel sculpture is a replica of the American multimedia artist’s own eye. Referencing everything from a pharaoh’s eye, a Masonic eye, and the eye of “Big Brother,” the piece ultimately means “whatever you want,” says Tasset. “Eye is one of those images that has taken on a number of meanings over the years. God and consciousness are just two of them.”
Originally commissioned as part of the Chicago Loop Alliance’s Art Loop program, Eye made its debut in the Windy City’s Pritzker Park in 2010 before arriving in its new Dallas home three years later. Since then, it has become the city’s most unique private event space and the site of the annual Dallas Art Fair’s closing soiree The Eye Ball, along with countless weddings, parties, yoga classes, and selfies.
El solsticio de invierno
Esta mañana (21 de Diciembre) mi calle estaba llena de gente para disfrutar de un fenómeno que lleva produciéndose más de 2000 años. En el solsticio de invierno el sol al salir ilumina de lleno la calle.
Zaragoza se trazó siguiendo los cánones romanos a partir de dos grandes vías urbanas: el “Cardo Máximo” de norte a sur, (aproximadamente la actual calle Don Jaime I) y el “Decumano Máximo” de este a oeste (C/ Mayor hasta C/ Manifestación). El resto de las calles se trazaban paralelas a éstas creando una estructura ortogonal, de red o cuadrícula, que formaban manzanas que se irían llenando a lo largo de los años con distintos edificios y casas de las familias más pudientes.

It was discovered on 5 August 1826 by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop.
Located in the southern constellation Sculptor, NGC 300 measures 22 arc-minutes in apparent size and is only about 6 million light years distant. By comparison, M31 is 2.5 million, M33 2.73 million.
The spiral arms are full of young blue stars with H alpha regions interspersed throughout the galaxy. Although it appears to be face-on, it’s actually inclined at an angle of 42 degrees. It is gravitationally interacting with nearby NGC 55.
NGC 300 closely resembles M33. Both are replete with nebulae bright in Ha and OIII, both are similarly inclined spirals and both produce large numbers of unresolved stars that look like noise.

The San Francisco de Asís Mission Church in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico, was built between 1772 and 1816 by Native Americans under direction of Franciscans. It is a well-preserved example of Spanish colonial architecture blending with native building techniques. It is a National Historic Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places. The church is still active and has been the subject of numerous restorations and updates over the years. Annually, the congregation re-muds the structure.
The church was the subject of several paintings by Georgia O'Keefe and photographed by Ansel Adams. It continues to be a popular subject for painters and photographers.

Stonehenge is a prehistoric megalithic structure on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, England, two miles (3 km) west of Amesbury. It consists of an outer ring of vertical sarsen standing stones, each around 13 feet (4.0 m) high, seven feet (2.1 m) wide, and weighing around 25 tons, topped by connecting horizontal lintel stones, held in place with mortise and tenon joints, a feature unique among contemporary monuments. Inside is a ring of smaller bluestones. Inside these are free-standing trilithons, two bulkier vertical sarsens joined by one lintel. The whole monument, now ruinous, is aligned towards the sunrise on the summer solstice and sunset on the winter solstice. The stones are set within earthworks in the middle of the densest complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred tumuli (burial mounds).
