Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama has emphasised the urgent need for Pakistan to be re-admitted to the Commonwealth while underscoring the importance for the Commonwealth to combat terrorism.
He made this observation during a meeting with the Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. The Secretary General while endorsing the Minister’s view on Pakistan, briefed him on the preparatory work for the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group (CMAG) scheduled for early next month, which would consider this matter.
They both agreed on the need for member countries not to be misled by the machinations of terror groups and to stand in solidarity with one another against such threats, the statement said.
In this context they recalled the decision endorsed by the Commonwealth Heads of Government at the meeting in Kampala last year to convene a meeting on terrorism which would be hosted by Sri Lanka.
While noting that this meeting has been tentatively scheduled for the last quarter of this year, Minister Bogollagama pointed out the need for preparatory work to be commenced immediately and to ensure non- duplication of related issues and value addition as its foundation.
Secretary General Sharma appreciated Sri Lanka’s undertaking to participate in the Commonwealth Group at Heads of Government level to study the reform of international institutions. This initiative which is also a Kampala mandate, will bring approximately 10 -12 Heads of Government to consider issues related to the reform of the IMF, World Bank etc.
The Foreign Minister shared the view that such a dialogue would link the Commonwealth with the World Bank thus profiling the organisation on the global economic agenda. He confirmed that President Mahinda Rajapaksa would attend the meeting to be held in London in June 2008.

1. First uploaded picture from my 35mm f/1.8 lens! Yay!
2. This was at the back of a local thrift shop. I have no idea why they have that giant triangle up there, but I do know that they host AA meetings there. Maybe it's Christian AA meetings? Not sure, unless only religious people can become un-alcoholic. *shrugs*
3. Three is a good number.

Born in 1899, A R Chughtai comes from a family of architects, engineers, painters and decorators. His main work was produced before Pakistan was created in the Persian and Mongol Traditional Style. Chughtai admitted himself to Lahore's Mayo School of Art, and subsequently moved to Calcutta and worked there for several years, painting in Bengal School Style. By 1923, when he was only 24, he started developing his style of drawing luscious, languid, narcissus-eyes and stylized figures with erotic overtones and heavy with fictional contents.
In 1927, Chughtai published Muraqqa, his first major work, which comprised a series of illustrations he made for new edition of the thought-heavy and highly imaginative verses of Ghalib, 19th century " poet's poet" of Urdu and Persian. In the thirties Chughtai visited Europe, researching on painting.
