London - June 28, 1896
My dear Miss Sarah -
Your letter including two pounds reacehd me last evening. I was very much overwhelmed. I have been invited out a great deal in London and indulged in a dinner dress, which it seemed to me at time was very imperative but which has since lain rather heavy upon my conscience.
If you will allow me to apply the check upon any thing so frivolous I will call that dress your present. The last dinner party was Friday evening at Mrs. Humphrey Woods. I sat next to Mr. Bryce (the American Commomwealth) and Augustine Birrell scintillated on the other side of the table quite like one of his own essays.
The night before was scarcely less interesting and the dinner was at the house of Mr. Coslettor and three Members of the London County Council indulged in one of the most brilliant discussions I ever heard. They take the art of governing so seriously over here. I have many pleasant reminiscences associated with the town, but I am sure that I shall care more for it now.
Miss Smith and I sail next Tuesday from here to Burgess, Norway and go into Russia through Finland. Our plans beyond that are not very well settled save that we will have to be in Buriuth August 2nd. I so hope that we are going to meet you come wh--ls. Please give my love to your mother and tell Mr. Prince that I am very anxious to have him see the quadrangle of Toynbee Hall.

This course takes an experimental multimedia approach to investigating some of the boundaries in contemporary art making practices. Painting, photography, video, design and sculpture intersect, overlap, and converge in complicated ways. Projects are designed to explore hybrid forms, collage, space/ installation, and color through a variety of strategic and conceptual proposals as students work towards unique ways of expanding their own work. Weekly readings, critiques, and presentations are integrated with studio projects.
