The big hinge was removed from the camera case to improve audio. I'll strap the camera into place with a thin strip of Velcro or a small rubber band. This will allow the clear housing cover to still protect the lens of the camera as it is mounted to my motorcycle and used at high speeds.

Camera case is mounted onto my DIY steady cam setup up, but not turned forward or locked down until all mods are completed.

The label text says the 260 patches from WWII divisions and units cared for at the military hospital in Malvern, England covered the army nurse's cape of its owner, Captain Hazel Nyblade of Delton, Michigan, pictured next to the label.

Today is hard to imagine or appreciate the scale of the war (or congeries of wars) and the number of lives of people and living creatures of land, air, and sea destroyed and disabled along the way. Lives intersected that otherwise would not have done, for good and other times for ill. And while the pages of history keep turning and not everyone takes interest in the events of 75 ago and before, still the harm echoes today like distant sounds of thunder rolling across the sky: fuel oil from sunken machines still leaks into the water, toxic waste moulders in the ground, mass graves and unexploded ordinance turn up from time to time. Then there are the generations raised by PTSD combat veterans and those living a regimented organizational life but without the PTSD. Attitudes and ambitions were formed in those uncertain times of massive violence and privation. And these speculations pertain to the Allies who had a home to return to, free of the wartime bombing and combat that took place in somebody else's backyard. So the generational effects for survivors and descendants in other societies may well be more pronounced still.

This photo of one person's project to collect symbols from the many lives touched is a happier moment in the time of dread. It does not misinform or deny all of the harm and abuses on the larger arena, but instead offers a personal glimpse of events.

I have a gray cover that goes onto this part of my DIY steady cam mount. I'll actually place the end of the fish line tether inside this conduit piece and then screw down the cover into place as an anchor for the tether.

The hinge pin was removed with the thin screwdriver shown in photo. Don't lose the pin when you store it away. You can use a drop of clear nail polish to lock the pin into place when you slide it in place at a later time.

In early October, 2021, we took our cameras inside the ICC for the exciting The Sun Machine Is Coming Down, and it was great to take pictures inside this massive building.

The exhibit designers included native species, as well as the salmon introduced in the 1960s to eat up the alewife (herring) invasive scourge. Solid waste discarded by people litters the bottom of the lake, too, as another expression of real-life conditions. The bottom left of the photo captures part of the interpretive text for invasive species, "new arrivals."

With something like 25% of human brains dedicated to visual sense (visual cortex) it is not surprising that lighting conditions make a big impression on viewers. So this glowing blueness of the display wall is pleasing and even inviting. But in the course of 24 hours, of course, there are long hours of no light (or starlight when cloudless; moonlight sometimes full or fractional), or half-light. Then there are the seasonal changes in temperature from cold to frozen or nearly freezing water temperature, too. As for the soundscape, outboard motors and jetskis, whispers of sailboats and splashes of swimmers and paddlers, along with thundering engines of large commercial vessels add to the total aquatic environmental experience. So this bright and wondrous display tells only part of the story. Without the currents, temperature gradients, effluents, and so on, this 'snapshot' of a cumulative biotic moment is incomplete. But in the interest of engaging non-specialists, it is wise to avoid "Too Much Information."
