Where Does the Accountability of Parliamentary Left Lies? .
CPI & its Student Wing AISF: AISF, which until last elections has been fighting elections in alliance with SF I. In last two elections that were held under Lyngdoh, it allied with DSF. In the current elections now they are just doing a mockery of being separate from SFIIDSF. Its parental party, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has long ago compromised with the cause of revolution and adopted the line of .
revisionism. Its class base is the land-owning section and the petty bourgeoisie, though it claims to have dalits and adivasis as their .
social base. It is nothing but a tail of Congress which has a long history of serving the British Colonialism and now American Imperialism. Whenever there emerged a people's struggle against feudalism, casteism and colonialism, the CPI actually, like Gandhi, served the colonial rulers by diverting towards reformism. They are the one who are supporting AFSPA in North-East. In the words of CPI Manipur State Committee General Secretary L .
Jotinkumar, 'CPI never demanded repeal of AFSPA'. In fact CPI's party programme do not even utter a single word on the Nationality Struggles. Recently in the anti-POSCO struggle in Orissa the nexus between CPI and BJD got exposed. In fact some JNU students who visited Gobindpur (Orissa) are witness to the deal between CPI and BJP for a few assembly seats! In JNU, following its masters, AISF has been indulged in the anti-student activities. Recently, when there was an indefinite hunger strike on the issue of gender discriminatory practices in hostel fines and the culture of arbitrary fines, the AISF actually collaborated with the Administration and shamelessly publicized that the Adminsitration has accepted all our demands. Whereas in reality the Adminsitratiop again cheated the student community by lying that the matter will be discussed in the IHA meeting. The Concerned Students brought out its public position on the failure of the hunger strike. In fact when the IHA meeting was finally held on 30/8/2013 it is not shocking that the matter of arbitrary fines in Sutlaj and gender discrimination in fines was not at all discussed. There is an interesting character of AI SF that must be brought before the students. AISF always take double positions in any matter. Informally it will say something and when it comes to take a position in any formal meeting, it takes au-turn. For instance, when the Concerned Students decided to go into indefinite hunger strike against arbitrary fines and gender discriminatory practices in fines, the AISF leadership met us personally and 'committed' to support our hunger stke. But on the same day when the All Organisation meeting was called, it, going by its history of betrayal, opposed our hunger strike. Finally when the Concerned Students amidst all opposition sat on the hunger strike on 5/8/2013, the AISF Durgest Tripathi publically in the protest demonstration used the .
brahamnical expression of supporting the hunger stike. He said, 'hamara ashiravaad aap sabke saath hai.' This again exposes their brahamanical nature. The tail of social fascist CPM, the CPI and its student wing AISF is an anti-people force and corrupted at its core. CPM & its Student Wing SFI: the list of anti-people policies of the social fascist CPM is endless. We all know what CPM did in .
Marichjhapi, Nandigram and Singur. It was the mother of all Nandigrams. If there was one Nandigram on March 14, 2007, then perhaps there were dozens of Nandigrams during the three-day cleanse-Marichjhapi operation in January 1979. It was one of the biggest massacre of Dalits in South Asia conducted by CPM. and now in our calnpus we see SFIIDSF vigorously shouting the slogans, baba tere sapnon ko manzil tak pahuchayenge. Marichjhapi is one glaring instance that exposes their hypocrisy. It is the clear symbol of decay and degeneration of the parliamentary CPM when people find the CPM leaders at various levels are directly involved in the big-budget religious celebrations, Durga Puja in particular -perfect example of the marriage of religion (readbrahamanism) with parliamentary Marxism. In its long history of rule in West Bengal it has never implemented the reservation. And .
in JNU, SFI shouts vociferously for reservation! But if we look into their arguments in support of reservation, their brahamanicallogic clearly comes out. When the students were fighting for the implementation of 27 percent osc·reservation, they stood for the 54 percent seat increase. Its an obvious move to appease their upper caste vote bank in which they are securing 27 percent seats for .
upper castes in the wake of 27 percent 'reduction' of seats for OBCs. What they are saying now is that the old admission policy ol JNU was better than the current one. This sweeping statement again shows their vgte bank calculations at the time of elections now. We all know that the old admission policy means a time when the OBC reservation was not implemented. So how come an admission policy which denies reservation be progressive than the current one? Not only this, they have not till date come out with their position on the caste discrimination in viva-voice. We ask them to clarify do they believe that viva-voice is one of the tools o1 caste discrimination or not? .
The revisionist CPM, which has turned into a ruling class party has surrendered to the World Bank, IMF and MNCs by inviting them to "develop" West Bengal under 'Left' Front rule. We all know that the people of Nandigram fought valiantly against the setting up of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in their villages by the Salem group of industries of Indonesia in collaboration with the notorious Dow Chemicals of the U.S. Thousands of women were humiliated, harassed, molested and raped in the carnage on 14 March 2007. The SFI and its B Team DSF who are now becoming the champions of gender justice, are the one who supportd Brinda Kar.at's (the polit bureau member of CPM) statement that one should not get distressed as there were only four cases of rape in Nandigram. And here in the campus they are supposedly leading the flag against the 31st July incident. In 2008 when peasants o1 Singur protested against the land grab for Tala's car factory, the CPM resorted to violence on the struggle people which resulted in .

Alberta Minister of Municipal Affairs Ric McIver provided, in Edmonton on Friday, October 18, 2024, an update on the Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act.
Alberta’s government has set new regulations to make local election processes more transparent for Albertans.
Albertans expect free and fair elections, recognizing that these principles are essential for a healthy democracy. During the spring session, the legislature passed legislation to strengthen voter confidence and increase transparency in local elections. Ahead of the 2025 municipal elections, Alberta’s government has developed corresponding regulations.
Bill 20, the Municipal Affairs Statutes Amendment Act, made changes to the Local Authorities Election Act (LAEA) and the Municipal Government Act (MGA) to add greater transparency to local election processes and require greater accountability from local councils and elected officials. The new regulations will establish expense limits for local election campaigns across Alberta and create rules for local political parties in Calgary and Edmonton. The legislation and corresponding regulations will come into force on Oct. 31, in advance of the upcoming local election year. (photography by Chris Schwarz/Government of Alberta)
Where you are in life today is the net result of the decisions and choices that you've made leading up to today. Ultimately there is no person to blame (or praise) but yourself. You've had your share of bad breaks, but you've also had some good fortune that you did not deserve. You've had people that have hurt you or held you back, but you've also had people that have encouraged you and helped you along the way. It is your response to the good and the bad, along your journey, that has placed you at your current destination. If you are blaming anyone for your lot in life, other than yourself, you are probably also waiting for someone or something to rescue you and give you the power to change it, that you've always possessed. If your "GPS" keeps guiding you to bad destinations, you need to upgrade your device or the software. Take inventory of where you are, accept responsibility, and move on. Excuses only make you feel better about doing nothing and make you feel powerless.
