The Kaiserkapelle is a prime example of romanesque architecture and also one of the most complete such structures. Built in the 13th century, part of Nuremberg Castle.
The chapel is a so-called "double chapel". This is the upper level, reserved for the emperor. The hole right in front connects this level to the lower level, for "ordinary" people, so they could enjoy mass together with the emperor.
Consequently the upper level is only accessible from the inside of the castle's palace, while the lower level only has an entrance from the outside of the palace.

Valley will be a real eye-catcher thanks to its daring and individualistic architecture. The building, whose flourishing patios create a striking green ‘facade-landscape’, will accommodate offices, residences and facilities. It will be located on Beethovenstraat, opposite ABN AMRO and next to Sportpark Goed Genoeg (AFC).
Valley helps to fulfil the municipality’s desire to develop a multifaceted city district for people to live, work and visit. From the ground floor to the seventh floor, the building will accommodate offices, cultural facilities, retail, catering facilities and access to the residential towers. The residential section – starting on the eighth floor – will feature 196 apartments varying in size from 55m² to 700m², practically all of which will be for rent.
The main feature of the design is the overwhelming abundance of greenery, which combines with the stone finishing to give it the look and feel of an exuberant green valley. The courtyard garden – situated on the lower storeys of the building and accessible to all – amplifies this effect even further. The different levels of the courtyard garden are linked by staircases. source: zuidas.nl/en/project/valley/
The Athabasca Glacier is one of the six principal 'toes' of the Columbia Icefield, located in the Canadian Rockies. The glacier currently loses depth at a rate of about 5 metres (16 ft) per year and has receded more than 1.5 km (0.93 mi) and lost over half of its volume in the past 125 years. Easily accessible, it is the most visited glacier in North America. The leading edge of the glacier is within easy walking distance; however, travel onto the glacier is not recommended unless properly equipped. Hidden crevasses have led to the deaths of unprepared tourists.
* The last post from my trip to Seville at least for a while . It is another shot from the Plaza de España that we saw on our first afternoon. We were equally impressed by the architecture but also by the wonderful warm temperatures . Two months later and I am still waiting for a little warmth its been a cool wet Spring this year
The Plaza de España is is a beautiful collection of buildings in the Parque de María Luisa in Seville. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. The Plaza was, designed by Aníbal González, was a principal building built on the Maria Luisa Park's edge to showcase Spain's industry and technology exhibits. González combined a mix of 1920s Art Deco and Spanish Renaissance Revival, Spanish Baroque Revival and Neo-Mudéjar styles. The Plaza de España complex is a huge half-circle; the buildings are accessible by four bridges over the moat, which represent the ancient kingdoms of Spain. In the centre is the Vicente Traver fountain.

The largest accessible cave in the western Harz offers interesting insights into animal and geological history. Thousands of years ago bears and wolves lived there. The cave in a forest area near the Herzberg district of Scharzfeld is a naturally formed cavity in 270 million year old Zechstein dolomite rock. The cave is the information center of the Harz Geopark and a natural and cultural monument.
Lake Oesa is a body of water located at an elevation of 2,267 metres in the mountains of Yoho National Park. Access to this area of Yoho National Park is restricted, you need a pass to access this trail (and all trails around Lake O'Hara). The trailhead is only accessible via shuttle service through Parks Canada reservation system.
Lake Oesa is one of my favorite alpine lakes, climbed a bit higher to overlook Lake Oesa. I did not take my wider lens, too heavy for 14.1km hiking 😉 It was snowing couple of days ago, the hiking and climbing were not easy at some parts ... The photo was stitched from three handheld shots.
Keem Bay, at the western end of Achill Island, is one of the most picturesque bays in Ireland. It is accessible by road over a twisting clifftop route on the side of Croaghaun mountain. Keem Bay is virtually uninhabited (the only building is a former coastguard station) and provides a peaceful and magnificent retreat from the 21st century.
At the heart of Keem Bay is the beautiful fine sandy beach. This strand is bordered on two sides by cliffs; to the east by the slopes of Croaghaun mountain, and to the west by a spar called Moyteoge. At the top of this spar, at an elevation of about 200m, is a former coastguard watch-house. For hillwalkers, this spot marks the start of a a breathtaking 1.5km walk along the top of the cliffs of Benmore towards Achill Head, the most westerly point of Achill Island.
Keem Bay has a strong connection with fishing. It was the location for much of Achill's shark fishing industry during the 1950s and 1960s. At that time the basking shark was a frequent visitor to the waters around Keem Bay, and it was hunted for its liver oil which was exported from Achill to provide fine grade lubricant for the aerospace industry. Much of this fishing took place in currachs, the traditional canvas-covered wooden vessels of the west of Ireland. Keem Bay is most likely the location used by the artist Paul Henry when painting his famous canvas 'Launching the Currach' (in the National Museum, Dublin).
Glenveagh Castle (Irish: Caisleán Ghleann Bheatha) is a large castellated Mansion house built in County Donegal, Ireland in about 1870.
Glenveagh Castle was built between 1870 and 1873 by Captain John George Adair. It stands within the boundaries of Glenveagh National Park, near both Churchill and Gweedore in County Donegal, Ireland. It is built in the Scottish Baronial style and consists of a four-story rectangular keep, surrounded by a garden, and a backdrop of some 165.4 km² (40,873 acres) of mountains, lakes, glens and woods complete with a herd of red deer. The Irish Gleann Bheatha (Bheithe) translates into English as "Glen of the Birch Trees". The visitor center has displays that explain the park as well as an audio-visual show and is accessible for patrons with disabilities.
Local boats during blue hour, moored at the small marina located at the end of the Pitt River before it opens up into the wonderworld of Pitt Lake.
Communities of rustic to luxury cabins are nestled in clusters along the lake's shores.
A whole new world opens up to a pristine tidal lake that is only accessible by boat.
Pitt Lake according to Wikipedia:
Pitt Lake is the second-largest lake in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia. About 53.5 square kilometres in area, it is about 25 km long and about 4.5 km wide at its widest. It is one of the world's relatively few tidal lakes, and among the largest. In Pitt Lake, there is on average a three foot tide range; thus Pitt Lake is separated from sea level and tidal waters during most hours of each day during the 15 foot tide cycle of the Pitt River and Strait of Georgia estuary immediately downstream.

This section of Iguazu Falls is known as Devil's Throat. It is most easily seen/accessible from the Argentine side of the falls via a 1200-yard footbridge after getting off of the Jungle Train at Devil's Throat Station. I took this photo from the balcony at the end of the footbridge. The rushing water of the falls is so loud on the balcony that you almost can't hear anything else, and I got very wet from the misty overspray created by the falls. On the footbridge while walking to and from the falls we saw lots of animals and birds including Coatis and Plush Crested Jays.
Quote of the Day:
"Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing." (Helen Keller)
Surprised that no one has posted a shot of skin - the most easily accessible and very flexible object that can be photographed. This is a shot of a section of my palm. The logistics involved in getting this shot was quite tricky!
For Macro Mondays task of ‘Flexible’.
This is an old ice house that sits off a separate island at the point of North Captiva. At one time, fishermen brought their fresh catch here for storage while they went back out for more. Now, it is a bunk house that is only accessible by boat, and it is often rented by college students and fishermen. The cistern still provides the fresh water, and it is one of the historic icons of the island...

a breathtaking view, a place full of history and charm of the past and mysticism. It was a real surprise. Italy is truly full of wonderful places
This monument is a symbol of Piedmont Region and a place that inspired the writer Umberto Eco to conceive the best-seller “Il nome della rosa” ( The name of the rose ) , the Sacra of San Michele is an ancient abbey built between 983 and 987 on the top of mount Pirchiriano, 40 km from Turin. From it’s towers you can admire Turin and a breathtaking view of the Val di Susa. Inside the main Church of the Sacra, dating from the twelfth century, are buried members of House of Savoy (one of the oldest royal family in the world).
Dedicated to the worship of the Archangel Michele, defender of the Christian people, the Sacra di San Michele fits inside a ruote of pilgrimage (long over 2000 km) wich runs from Saint-Michel ( France ) to Monte Sant’Angelo (Puglia).
The history, the spiritual value and the landscape that sorrounds it trasform the Sacra in a special destination for visitors from all over Europe: pilgrims, faithfuls, tourists but also athletes who want to test themselves with climbing paths or mountain-bike.
The Sacra di San Michele offers to its public guided tours and events during all months of the year.
The different historical, architecture and painting sites are accessible to people with disabilities.
Sorrento, perched picturesquely on a plateau above the sea with spectacular views over the Bay of Naples, has been a popular tourist destination for almost two centuries. Traditionally the town is one of the favourite resorts of British visitors to Italy, and over the last few decades it has ruled as Italy's leading package-holiday destination for English-speakers. The historic seaside town has learned to live with, and make the most of tourism, and in return it offers a classic 'Mediterranean summer holiday' atmosphere - but without losing all of its Italian character and charm. The key attraction of Sorrento is that it can offer a variety of holiday experiences to suit different visitors, from rural walks through lemon and olive groves to a choice of excursions by land or sea. Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples are accessible in one direction, and the Amalfi Coast in another. Days out can include Roman ruins, low-key seaside resorts, traditional villages and breathtaking scenery. Being well-connected and easy to get to makes this a straightforward and practical holiday choice.

abstraction of a bridge that is not accessible anymore. it used to be the only way to my house yet, years ago, it was replaced by a modern bridge. i have taken many photos while on this bridge or Mud River below. now it is so warped, i am not allowed to even walk on it. time and nature provides so much stuff to photograph!
Well, actually it's a little Eastern Amberwing dragonfly. They are very small and like most dragonflies, lightening fast.
There were lots of them zipping about and luckily this tiny branch seemed to be a favorite landing spot. Still not the most accessible spot being way down at the water's edge, but I watched and waited - hoping one would land long enough for me to grab a shot or two.
Seen during a recent visit to a nearby arboretum. *** And yes, it's still facing the wrong way and too far away, but beggars can't be choosers.
Le Mont Saint-Michel is an island commune in Normandy, France. It is located about one kilometre (0.6 miles) off the country's northwestern coast, at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches and is 100 hectares (247 acres) in size. As of 2009, the island has a population of 44.
The island has held strategic fortifications since ancient times and since the 8th century AD has been the seat of the monastery from which it draws its name. The structural composition of the town exemplifies the feudal society that constructed it: on top, God, the abbey and monastery; below, the great halls; then stores and housing; and at the bottom, outside the walls, houses for fishermen and farmers.
The commune's position — on an island just 600 metres from land — made it accessible at low tide to the many pilgrims to its abbey, but defensible as an incoming tide stranded, drove off, or drowned would-be assailants. The Mont remained unconquered during the Hundred Years' War; a small garrison fended off a full attack by the English in 1433.The reverse benefits of its natural defence were not lost on Louis XI, who turned the Mont into a prison. Thereafter the abbey began to be used more regularly as a jail during the Ancien Régime.
One of France's most recognizable landmarks, visited by more than 3 million people each year, Mont Saint-Michel and its bay are on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites.Over 60 buildings within the commune are protected in France as monuments historiques.*

The most accessible of all the dozen or so falls in the town of Real, Quezon. A river running through the rugged hills of the Sierra Madre is responsible for the numerous waterfalls in the area.
Multnomah Falls is a waterfall located on Multnomah Creek in the Columbia River Gorge, east of Troutdale, between Corbett and Dodson, Oregon, United States. The waterfall is accessible from the Historic Columbia River Highway and Interstate. One of the most popular falls to photograph in America. The falls are in two parts – upper 542’ drop, lower 69’ drop. Total drop is 611’
According to Native American lore, Multnomah Falls was created to win the heart of a young princess who wanted a hidden place to bathe. Although you can see the top portion of the falls from the highway, to view both tiers you have to walk to the viewing area located in a carved-out opening in the rock face. Tilting your head up in the narrow rocky confines of the steep cliffs, you get a mind-boggling perspective on the sheer magnitude of the falls.

At sunrise on a cliff overlooking Lake Ontario, a newly-landed Nashville Warbler examines the rolled up leaves for insects.
This was one of about twenty species of Warbler that had arrived that morning, dozens of birds all pushing each other out of perceived ‘hot spots’ for bugs. The beneficiary of that push was anyone with a camera: in the early light, the birds dropped down out of the canopy in their search for food.
That meant that some of the more difficult birds to photograph, because of their fondness for the upper branches of trees, were accessible. This Nashville showed off its field marks that give it its French name: the grey cheeks were fully on display.
Oddly, at what was the peak of the spring migration in Prince Edward County, there were very few birders and few among them had cameras. The entire Prince Edward County National Wildlife Area, a large swath of shoreline and mixed habitats, was mostly without people.
As I have mentioned earlier, I had a few lifers on this visit, as well as a lot of fun, especially with my friend Paul. The enthusiasm of the spring migration was infectious, and everyone we did meet was friendly and sharing news of sightings.

Certain flowers invite you in for a closer look. Their petals blowing gently in the breeze seem to call out with a song I can't resist. After taking walks in our neighborhood for many years, I know exactly where the loveliest, and most accessible, specimens grow. I'm just counting the days until the Clematis flowers are once again in bloom.
The Broads are manmade waterways. Along with many other mills, Horsey Mill was built to drain the water to create more farmland. Here are some facts quoted from. www.nationaltrustscones.com/2019/10/horsey-windpump.html?m=1
“Here are some historical facts:
There has been a drainage mill on the site since the early 1700s
There are similar mills dotted all around this part of Norfolk - by draining the land using wind power, landowners could make more area available for farming
Drainage continues today - there's an electric pump doing all the work these days, but if it wasn't there then the area would be flooded:
The area used to be an island used for grazing or keeping horses (hence the name), with one access road that regularly flooded
The current windpump structure was built in 1912 on the foundations of the 19th century mill
Horsey Windpump was working until 1943 when it was struck by lightning
It was acquired by the National Trust and has been restored - its sails were set in motion for the first time in 76 years in May this year, which must have been a great moment
As with all mills, it's not the most accessible property - there are several floors and 61 steps to negotiate to get right to the top, most of which are very narrow (I can report that the young sconepals cared not a jot about this and were scampering up the stairs like squirrels)”
This an observation platform above the shoreline dunes, accessible by a trail near Whitefish Point on Lake Superior.
Recently the great Amsterdam zoo ARTIS was also gazetted as a Botanical Garden, much to my joy! It always had many plants and flowerss, but now lots of them have been signposted as well (not this one, though, which is presumable a cultivar). It's wonderful to be able to alternate between the Hortus and the Zoo, only a couple of hundred metres away from each other.
The Zoo, of course, has many caged animals, but there are 'free in the air' ones as well. Here's a Honeybee scrounging for the last Autumn Nectar. She's on a Sage and flower's nectar is apparently not very accessible for her from the inside. So she's loading up from its backside between the sepals and the corolla, where there's nectar-seepage, or perhaps she's cutting into it.
It was very wet - see the raindrop - but a bit of Sunlight was all Honeybee needed for her expedition.
The Philosophical Hall at the Strahov Monastery, Prague, Czechia (the Czech Republic's official short name as of 2016)
(unless you made and paid for a reservation months beforehand, you are not allowed inside and can only admire the room from the doorway; photos can be taken only if you pay extra for a photo permit; best viewed enlarged for details)
Abbot Vaclav Mayer, during the last quarter of the 18th century, decided to build new library premises for the numerous acquisitions so he ordered the Philosophical Hall to be built by the naturalized Italian architect Johann Ignaz Palliardi. The hall is 32 meters long, 10 meters wide and 14 meters high, flanked on all sides by rich walnut wood bookcases. The highest shelves are only accessible from the gallery which is accessed by secret spiral staircases in both corners, masked by false book covers.
The ceiling was painted by Viennese artist Anton Maulbertsch over a period of 6 months, aided by only one assistant. The painting called The Spiritual Development of Mankind depicts the development of religion and science, guided by Divine Providence in the center of the painting, surrounded by virtues.
In the 19th century, Napoleon Bonaparte's wife Marie Louise visited the library and donated a four-volume work on Louvre museum paintings and Versailles gardens. The gift was stored in the tall bookcase that dominates the left side of the hall. On the top of the bookcase, there is a marble bust of Francis I, Emperor of Austria and Marie Louise's father.
The total number of volumes in the hall exceeds 50,000 works. In 2010, the Philosophical Hall was completely restored.
Taken at night facing Kölner Dom in the background. The Hohenzollern Bridge (Hohenzollernbrücke) is a bridge crossing the river Rhine in the German city of Cologne (Köln). Originally, the bridge was both a railway and street bridge, however, after its destruction in 1945 and its subsequent reconstruction, it was only accessible to rail and pedestrian traffic.
It is the most heavily used railway bridge in Germany, connecting the Köln Hauptbahnhof and Köln Messe/Deutz stations.
Known as the "secret cave", this cave is not really a secret, but it is very difficult to get to on foot. Timing is key - it can only be accessed at low tide. There are also some tough climbs on the way, it's definitely not accessible on foot to everyone.

The Plaza de España ("Spain Square", in English) is a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa (Maria Luisa Park), in Seville, Spain. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is a landmark example of Regionalism Architecture, mixing elements of the Baroque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival (Neo-Mudéjar) styles of Spanish architectureMaria Luisa Park
Main article: Maria Luisa Park
In 1929, Seville hosted the Ibero-American Exposition World's Fair, located in the celebrated Maria Luisa Park (Parque de María Luisa). The park gardens were designed by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier. The entire southern end of the city was redeveloped into an expanse of gardens and grand boulevards.
The centre of it is Parque de María Luisa, designed in a "Moorish paradisical style", with a half mile of tiled fountains, pavilions, walls, ponds, benches, and exhedras; lush plantings of palms, orange trees, Mediterranean pines, and stylized flower beds. Numerous buildings were constructed in the park to provide spaces for the exhibition.
Plaza de España
The Plaza de España, designed by Aníbal González, was a principal building built on the Maria Luisa Park's edge to showcase Spain's industry and technology exhibits.
Many tiled alcoves were built around the plaza, each representing a different province of Spain. The Plaza's tiled Alcoves of the Provinces are frequent backdrops for visitors' portrait photographs, taken in their own home province. Each alcove is flanked by a pair of covered bookshelves, now used by visitors in the manner of a "Little Free Library". Each bookshelf often contains works with information about their province. Visitors have also donated favorite novels and other books for others to read.
Today the buildings of the Plaza de España have been renovated and adapted for use as offices for government agencies. The central government departments, with sensitive adaptive redesign, are located within it. Toward the end of the park, the grandest mansions from the fair have been adapted as museums. The most distant museum contains the city's archaeology collections. The main exhibits are Roman mosaics and artefacts from nearby Italica.
The Plaza de España has been used as a filming location, including scenes for Lawrence of Arabia (1962). The building was used as a location in the Star Wars movie series Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) — in which it featured in exterior shots of the City of Theed on the Planet Naboo. It also featured in the 2012 film The Dictator.
The plaza was used as a set for the video of Simply Red's song "Something Got Me Started".

A completely normal morning at one of my easily accessible photo locations, unfortunately now very overgrown with trees and bushes, so that such pictures are only possible to a limited extent.
Ein ganz normaler Morgen an einem meiner schnell erreichbaren Fotostandorte, leider inzwischen sehr von Bäumen und Sträuchern zugewachsen, so dass solche Bilder nur noch eingeschränkt möglich sind.
The waterfall is accessible from the Historic Columbia River Highway and Interstate 84. Spanning two tiers on basalt cliffs, it is the tallest waterfall in the state of Oregon at 620 ft. in height. The Multnomah Creek Bridge, built in 1914, crosses below the falls, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
So this is my 'Guardian of the Galaxy' photograph which I have today, Thursday 26th December, 2024, re-edited to deepen the blue in the sky.
I took this photograph from my favourite rock platform at Kirribilli, on Sydney Harbour. It is accessible via a forest of giant figtrees. You don't actually see the rock platform until you get right down to the harbour level.
The girl in the image is Zoe. I discovered Zoe at sunset and bizarrely she was carrying a lamp. She held the lamp up to the harbour as the dusk descended in some kind of esoteric, enigmatic, gesture.
And for Zoe, here is 'The Cult' with 'She Sells Sanctuary'.
A bit like Zoe, lol. And she likes this song.

Today, the terrestrial order, the order of the earth, is coming to an end. It is being succeeded by the digital order. Heidegger was the last thinker of the terrestrial order. Death and pain do not belong to the digital order. They represent disturbances. Mourning and longing are also suspicious. The pain of the nearness of distance is alien to the digital order. Distance is inscribed into nearness. The digital order transforms nearness into the absence of distance, so that it is no longer painful. Under the compulsion of availability, everything is rendered accessible and consumable. The digital habitus is: everything must be available at once. The telos of the digital order is total availability. This order lacks the 'slowness of the hesitant shyness in the face of what cannot be done'.

Perito Moreno is considered one of the most accessible glaciers in the world for a few reasons. Firstly, it is located in the Los Glaciares National Park, which is a popular tourist destination in Argentina. The park is easily accessible by car or bus from the nearby town of El Calafate. Secondly, the glacier is relatively close to the edge of the national park, which means that visitors can walk to the viewing platforms and get relatively close to the glacier without needing to take a long hike or climb. There are also several viewing platforms and walkways built around the glacier, which provide visitors with different perspectives of the glacier and its surroundings. Finally, the Los Glaciares National Park offers a variety of guided tours, such as boat tours, trekking tours, and ice hiking tours that allow visitors to explore the glacier in different ways. Looking down from The Peak, highest point on Hong Kong Island, towards the Skyline of Hong Kong Island.
As early as the 19th century, the Peak attracted prominent European residents because of its panoramic view over the city and its temperate climate compared to the sub-tropical climate in the rest of Hong Kong. The sixth Governor of Hong Kong, Sir Richard MacDonnell had a summer residence built on the Peak circa 1868. Those that built houses named them whimsically, such as The Eyrie, and the Austin Arms. These original residents reached their homes by sedan chairs, which were carried up and down the steep slope of Victoria Peak. This limited development of the Peak until the opening of the Peak Tram funicular in 1888.
The boost to accessibility caused by the opening of the Peak Tram created demand for residences on the Peak. Between 1904 and 1930, the Peak Reservation Ordinance designated the Peak as an exclusive residential area reserved for non-Chinese. They also reserved the Peak Tram for the use of such passengers during peak periods. The Peak remains an upmarket residential area, although residency today is based on wealth.
The Peak is home to many species of birds, most prominently the black kite, and numerous species of butterflies. Wild boar and porcupines are also seen, along with a variety of snakes.
With seven million visitors every year, the Peak is a major tourist attraction of Hong Kong with its views of the city and its waterfront. The viewing deck also has coin-operated telescopes that the visitors can use to enjoy the cityscape. The number of visitors led to the construction of two major leisure and shopping centres, the Peak Tower and the Peak Galleria, situated adjacent to each other.
The Peak Tower incorporates the upper station of the Peak Tram, whilst the Peak Galleria incorporates the bus station used by the Hong Kong public buses and green minibuses on the Peak. The Peak is also accessible by taxi and private car via the circuitous Peak Road, or by walking up the steep Old Peak Road from near the Zoological Botanical Gardens or the Central Green Trail from Hong Kong Park.
Victoria Peak Garden is located on the site of Mountain Lodge, the Governor's old summer residence, and is the closest publicly accessible point to the summit. It can be reached from Victoria Gap by walking up Mount Austin Road, a climb of about 150 metres. Another popular walk is the level loop along Lugard and Harlech Roads, giving good views of the entire Hong Kong Harbour and Kowloon, as well as Lantau and Lamma Islands, encircling the summit at the level of the Peak Tower.

Close up of the seaweed on Llandanwg Beach and Marina
Llandanwg, between Barmouth and Harlech, is famous for its church which stands just a stone’s throw from the sea. The beach is sheltered from strong winds, making it a perfect place for relaxation. It’s popular with fishermen – the local catch includes dogfish, bass, flatfish and mackerel. The beach is accessible by a path through the dunes from a car park. This west facing, shallow shelving beach is a part of the Snowdonia National Park. There are dog restriction areas on the beach. Nearby Mochras – better known as Shell Island – is a popular spot accessible by low-tide causeway, with a beach, dunes and an amazing variety of shells. On Shell Island you will find a large sandy beach, variety of wild flowers and breath-taking views. The area caused a sensation with the British Geological Survey in the 1960’s thanks to it’s research.
